Kitcat
Right 2.0:)! With no real aero, wings, etc. I need to get some Hankook tires apparently. I just hope they dont stick so hard to my driveway that I can't lift them into place....
JohnCh
The article doesn't give any detail on how the 2g was measured. Was it an average around the skid pad, or a mid corner transient on a specific corner on a specific track? Big difference... Remember, a good marketer can tell a lie with the truth. -John
Pokey
You guys are so cynical. I'm sure it sticks so well because of all the downforce generated at 300 MPH.
Croc
2G? Thats the least of its problems. It weighs 1550lbs. It needs power steering. It has problems with its brakes not getting enough heat into them? You dont need brakes in a seven - or shouldnt much need them. And i find it about as attractive as nearly all of the USA7s forum members. It costs $187,000. Might as well buy a Stalker for a fraction of that. More hp. Power steering. Brakes that work. Styling is actually better.
Anaximander
Croc, I can't believe that you finally realized that our Storkers look better than Donkervoorts! OTOH, the 1.5g's that Stalkers can pull turned out to be a bit much for my old inner ears. This past year, I went jazzing around very tight twisties in the North Carolina mountains with a Stalker XL and realized on the second day that I was experiencing some disequilibrium. Having been a professional pilot in another life (but not trying to fly my Stalker like Shane), I realized that my 70ish body was not liking a constant diet of g forces. Well, that just saved me a cool $187k. I did pick up a 1995 Miata a couple of months ago that I have been mechanically preparing to screw around with some street tire autocrossing. I don't know, having owned 5 sevenesque cars if the Miata will prove to be fun enough to continue to play with? For $4k, I can sure tell you that it was cheaper than any ragged out 7 that I could have found. However, when I read some of the car porn being thrown around on this site, I still miss the rawness of my 7 experiences. Bob

Nick OTeen
How many Donkervoorts made it to the states?Only a very few of the early ones that looked like your typical Lotus, or Catherhm, 7, but that was many years ago. As they are (albeit limited) production cars, rather than kits, Donkervoorts cannot be imported into the US; at least for use on public roads. Nick OTeen
It weighs 1550lbs. It needs power steering.Power steering is optional. It has problems with its brakes not getting enough heat into them?I'm not sure I understand your question. And i find it about as attractive as nearly all of the USA7s forum members.A difficult comparison no matter how you slice it, but having never seen all, or nearly all, the members of this forum I'll have to take your word that it is about as attractive as nearly all of the USA7s forum members. Kitcat
I read a brief blurb about this car in Top Speed. It runs tire sizes, front and back, nearly identical to my Miata (I run 245/40x17") front and back, this runs a 245 in back and 235 up front. What size tires are you running Shane? The diffuser is said to add 176 lbs of down force, and the front nose design adds 110 lbs of down force. That is a beautiful thing, but I suspect it is at top speed and doubt that it would allow the relatively skinny tires to generate 2 G's. I am sure someone will actually test this claim soon, then we will know. By serious aero, I am thinking of a Sprint Car type set up with a huge wing up top. I am pretty sure that's how the fast Stalker ran such an impressive time at VIR a decade or so ago by former 7's member, Midgetracr. His V8 power probably didn't hurt either. Anaximander
I guess the Vett doesn't scratch the itch. The Vette is a bit tame in some respects. Power to weight ratio could not match my Stalkers and the fun factor of my 300/400r Caterham that I had for a short time. I still want to autox but don't want to take a relatively porky and new Corvette out and bung up the paint with cones:smash: Besides, a set of tires for the Vette cost almost half of what the Miata cost was to purchase the car. The Vette doesn't require any wrenching whereas the Miata needs some TLC and I am learning its relatively simple systems. Where sevenesque cars have a fairly "open" architecture, the Vette is shrouded in covers that discourage jumping in with wrenches. Different horses for different courses as they sometimes say.
