Vovchandr
In other words, what would be the vehicle you would have chosen to satisfy your "7 type needs" if 7 never existed. Morgan trike? Ariel? Elise? Miata etc Not looking for an answer of another car you happen to like or own, if it's not similar in concept and or execution to what a 7 embodies. Light. Roadster. Affordable... CarlB
If the 7 didn't exist would the Elise ever been made? Ariel or KTM Crossbow are closest, but both had a target to shoot for. Chapman produced a car that demands all your attention and is pure fun.
JohnCh
Twenty plus years ago I was torn between the Lotus Elan and a se7en but eventually opted for the latter. Although I finally scratched the Elan itch three years ago, I went with the fixed head coupe version rather than the convertible since the Westfield handles open air duties. If I were buying a car now and se7ens didn't exist, I'd go with the Westfield XI. For me, part of the se7en charm is the extreme exposure to the elements which you don't quite get in an Elan even if it's a drop top. -John

jeffs
I really enjoyed the elise and the miata, but they aren't close enough to a 7. Without the 7 I would have wanted (ok, I still want) the BAC Mono, but probably would have settled for the Atom.

Renottse
The “ vehicle “ that is meeting “ my “ 7 needs is various motorcycles… The 7 meets my wife’s need for a motorcycle with four wheels… If 7 didn’t exist I’d be all 6’s and 8’s… Then I’d be tasked with making a two seater version of this… Eventually frustrated it’d be a Radical
MoBoost
From time to time I look at the Westfield XI or better still (because the engine is in the right place), a Xanthos 23. I like the audacity of the Morgan 3 wheeler, but I’m not sold on three wheels.
toldfield
I would have a Lotus 27. A buddy had one in his dining room, he was single, and I was going to buy it. He sat me down and had a fatherly talk with me then ended up selling it to someone else for more than I was going to pay. His sensible mentoring (?) began the path to my Seven which he approved of it whole heartedly. He did point out that I might get into less trouble driving the Seven to coffee in the morning. FE07
Too funny- we're really all very similar. BAC Mono-absolutely! (if could only afford) Westfield 11- Uh huh. Xanthos 23- you bet. Lotus elan- of course!! Don't forget the Europa. Waiting to retire to hopefully do one of them. Well- not the Mono And don't forget there are alot of track options that will perform just as well/better than many of the above for significantly less money. Any older/vintage Formula car is a blast to drive on track although not any good for track days as you'll find very limited groups to run with and more safety issues than in a seven. Join a vintage racing group. There's always somebody to play with. Jim
scannon
Miata, C8 Corvette. I've owned 40 Miatas so far and I spend more time on the Miata.net forum than any other. I still look at this forum daily even though I sold my Caterham many years ago and still miss it.
IamScotticus
It would be the Elio Motors, Which may not happen at all. then Polaris Slingshot body kit related. ugly. Always thought Id default to TR250/6.
speedwagon
Presently have a Meyers Manx clone with a 2010 VNT turbo-ed (250+hp) air cooled vw, 14" wide dirt tires on back. Will go most anywhere, runs at freeway speeds, has heater, and does well in a long gravel curve power drifting. It is easy to find a place to stress my ability (within my property). it and the Superformance S1 will be here when I croak. Also have a smooth bodied rotus chassis and a sorta "lightning" clone is coming together. and many more unnecessary vehicles appropriate for a 80 yr old. DavidL
how about a midlana (see www.midlana.com), one guy's version of a very nice mid-engined Seven. He wrote a book on how to build one, although I followed his build blog for years as it came together.
