Small battery recommendations

I suggest staying with a commonly available vented lead-acid where the cca is tested at 0f versus 32f (not a direct comparison to the popular sealed race batteries). What is the BCI code on the battery you have or the dimensions? The code would provide the dimensions.

Higher cca provides a margin/cushion for starting when it can make a difference between driving and towing.

Happy with my antigravity atx12hd. Weighs nothing.

I have the same battery on my Caterham for the last 3 years and it's been flawless so far. I also had a PC680 on my Birkin for 9 years and it was still going strong when I sold it.

I have used an Odyssey PC680 in my Birkin for years, with one replacement.  Starts my stock Zetec with ease, holds a charge well and lasts several years.  And it is AGM so zero corrosion.

Happy Motoring!

I've had the PC680 in my car for a few years and it works just fine.

There is an older thread on this same topic (Lightweight (lithium most likely) battery recs?). As I mentioned there, I have am Antigravity SC-1 that weighs about 1 pound. I now have over 1k miles of use and it is working fine, but it requires diligent use of the Master electrical switch. I think the suggestions for the Antigravity ATX12HD are safer choices if you want an Antigravity brand.

I’m happy with my odyssey battery (replaced once, but abused by a faulty starter & alternator). One friend is a big fan of braille batteries which are even smaller & lighter.

it is helpful to have a local supplier with your chosen model in stock. This saved me on my last replacement the day before an AutoX.

Thank you.

I’m a bit of a fiend when it comes to batteries. I had an odyssey 680 in the Atom, but managed to get through 3 in 8 years. Mainly because my cars go into hibernation for 5 months here in Minnesota and I forget to swap the trickle charger over.

My uncle dropped a new battery in my 7 before it was shipped over as Covid had prevented any use. Unfortunately, it’s a monster of a battery and larger than the already large one that was in there before.

Think I’ll give the ATX12HD a go and fit a battery cut off switch at the same time.

Cheers!

My car arrived sans-battery.  Based on the collective wisdom of these forums I reconfigured for a PC680 and have been pleased with it.  Aside from being compact, the chemistry suits the infrequent use.  Shown is the prototype V1 mount.  V2 uses an aluminum top cover which fully encases the battery and bolts to the baseplate.
