(for the record, my view on Exocets is not that they shouldn't exist—itt clearly comes from the same thinking that got us into our own contraptions—but that I'd rather have the whole Miata than one that lost 700 lbs and all of the charm and usability...)

The MK cars look pretty-good.  All the essentials of a Seven with a single Miata donor.  I was seriously considering one, but it was turbocharged.  Any amount of of turbo-lag is probably a bad idea for an aging autocross freak with laughable natural talent.

On Sunday we took Purple Reign to the Father’s Day car show in Trenton. We made lots of young ones (and their parents) very happy by letting them sit in the car. I overheard more than one point and tell their parents as they walked back; See that car? I sat in that CAR! Remember? I do!

A good time was had by all.

Yeah.  I love letting kids sit in my cars.  It means so much to them.  I remember my first ride in a real sports car.  I didn't understand what it was at the time; i might have been about 7 years old.  When I grew up, I thought about my memory of the event and I think it was probably a big Healey.

MK also offer the Miata donor version set up to take the Honda K20 or K24 engines for those who want high horsepower without forced induction.

Or you can do what I do ...

A 7 for the nice days and a Miata for the not as nice days.  Such as when it's pouring down rain, or if either A/C or heat are needed.

Getting kids around cars and giving them something to be passionate about is such a gift. Those small moments can have a profound impact.

I went for my first ride in a Caterham when I was seven years old, and looking back, that experience probably played a big role in motivating me to pursue an engineering degree. My capstone project was a stress and strain analysis of a Locost chassis.

Now, decades later, I’ve been fortunate enough to buy the very same car I first rode in as a seven-year-old. Today, my own kids (seven-year-old twins) absolutely love riding in it.

I remember my first ride in a Canada Class sports racer. Family friend and neighbor designed and built his own race cars. This one started as a tube chassis with an air cooled VW flat four up front and the VW transaxle in the back. He was taking the car for a test drive and said his 6 year old daughter and I (about 4 ½) could ride along. The two of us sat in the passenger seat and he did the lap belt up around us both. He fired it up and off we went. Flying down the country side roads. Later he switch it up by putting a DKW engine in between him and the transaxle. It was at Harewood Acres in Jarvis Ontario around 1959 while watching this person race that I saw my first Lotus sixes and sevens. So I’ve had the hots for a Seven for a very long time.

First photo shows the VW version. The second shows the DKW version. The third I think I may have posted before. It is of my father and me in his 1934 La Salle in the parking lot of the Canadian Automotive Museum in Oshawa Ontario.

Oh I've had one in the past and probably will again! A Toyota/Subaru twin was my replacement for that car before I got the 7...

The conversion of the CSR 260 back into a two-seater is almost complete.  A temporary version, until the new seat shows up.

I have no pictures at all of me with my father in his 1932 Auburn.  My grandmother made him sell it when Roosevelt activated his Naval Reserve unit and sent them all to Hawaii in early 1941.

Sam ting, but instead of a Miata, I have a Cayman.

Used to have a Miata.  Not hip to the "demoray solution", I sold Meg (short for Megagram, a metric ton of fun) when I got my first Caterham.  Soon realized my mistake and tried to remedy it by selling the Caterham and buying an Elise.

Me too!  Mine went to our oldest grandson to make way for our Caterham.

Ooh, looks like a spicier-than-normal BRZ you got there (or your lucky grandson, rather). I'll accept this as an excuse as any to shamelessly post mine...

My son had one.  Felt old school.
