You need to start a thread on how the 420R, 620S, and CSR 260 compare on track. #peerpressure

Its not exactly a 620 despite the label.  Actually a 700S.....   #faaaaaarkitsquick  #gripchallenged

The Duratec pump is on the crannkshaft llike a Zetec?  I did not know that.

I don't remember an engine with a belt-driven oil pump, just water pumps.

The oil pump on my Caterham 1700 was driven by a shaft, presumably  driven off the camshaft.  I'm told tht the Lotus-Ford Twin Cam still has the camshaft in the block, only there to run the oil pump (and distributor?)

Taken Sunday at the autocross.

When I drove in on Saturday, some wags in the club asked me if the car was for sale.  Really original humor.

I said yes, but I didn't tell them why.  I only said that I had not driven to California for the scenery.

This was a good Seven to bring to a novice school:  It has ordinary 3-point belts so students did not have to mess about with more-exotic restraints.  I generally don't beat all the students at these things, but this time I did.  I was trying harder because of the cycled-out tires.

Practice event Saturday, so I plan to spring the orange beast on them.  The tires are not legal for XU, but fortunately, the practice day is a classless event.

I wound up second of three in XU on Sunday.  I want to sell this car so it needs to look more-impressive next Sunday.  When I got home ordered 4 fresh Yoko 052 tires from Tire Rack.  They are in-stock at their Roseville warehouse.  I pick them up Tuesday.

And the mechanical fuel pump, should it be so equipped.

It's not. The pump is chain driven off the crank

Ah.  So the oil pump is immune to the clutch-limit disaster.  It would be the thrust washer itself that would take the hit.

I wonder how unusual the Zetec is for its oil-pump placement.

The mirror clamps on the CSR's SLR cage would shred the Storm Cap that arrived today from Soft Bits For Sevens.

On Long Island, The North Shore has land on the south and water on the north.

In Minnesota, The North Shore has water on the south and land on the north.

Yes we all studied on that one.  Could still get invisible fingerprints on it?

Now if you ever drive fast one day a few years from now you will discovered that bugs commit hara kiri on visors.  Since I like to see, that gunk is brilliant for non smearing buggy shit everywhere.

I kinda liked @Croc with an older car with questionable tires and transmission. That somewhat leveled the playing field.

consider this my standing point-by for you on our next outing.

LOL at needing to see to drive fast. Just go full Days of Thunder and WOT into the fog of war.

Credentials for the Back to the 50s Weekend can not be picked up at the Minnesota Fairgrounds.  They must be picked up a suburban hotel.  This circa 10,000-car show is limited to cars 1964 and earlier.  I'm bringing the Birkin.  I will feel guilty about this five minutes after they throw out all the fiberglass Cobras running around.

I have been sending in an entry for a "1963 Lotus Seven" every year for a long time, and never show up with a car.  Last time I brought a car it was an actual 1962 TR4.

By coincidence, the Birkin I bought from Dean is actually titled as a 1963 Lotus.

Of course, you can show up at the hotel with any sort of vehicle, but I decided to bring the Birkin and hang for a couple of hours, buy a burger and pop.
