MightyMike's Birkin for Sale

Recommended Posts

Mike,

I'm really happy to hear that. Would you like to borrow my Caterham driver's seat and install it temporarily in your Birkin to see if it will help with your back pain?

Skip,

Thanks for the offer! I suspect it would probably take a bit of work to get the seat in. I'm thinking now that I may go with something from MOG as recommended by one of our fellow USAers.

Mike, try the Tillet before you buy the MOG. Although the MOG is fantastic for my back (better than the Tillet), everyone's injury is a little different and you may find the Tillet is just fine for you. You'll also have a much easier time finding one to try on for size. If you get to the Seattle area, you are welcome to try my MOGs.

I've decided to keep my Birkin. I just couldn't stomach the thought of having an empty garage. Not sure if I'll drive it much, but will likely take the advice of a couple USA7ers and replace the seats. Thank you everyone for your support!

Excellent! I saw this thread and was pretty disappointed until I saw this post.

Mike glad to hear you are keeping the Birkin hope you can find a seat so you can make use of it. My mate has a 98 Elise and I find it hard to get in than in my Birkin at least my Birkin has places for me to put my hands and help push me up and out of the car.

Mike - I am glad you have reconsidered so that you can keep your car dreams alive.

Can we now start a thread on best seats for different back problems. Would love to know what the difference is between the Tillet and Mog in shape.

Excellent suggestion. I suspect a bunch of us old farts would love to know the right answer for Mike so that they can solve their own back problems.

Hello Mike

I hear to you of Seats. I have just made a choice for my seats of origin birkin, not very comfortable slipping and especially hard because not much of Foam the interior has. And to finish I have to order seats caterham for leather S3.

A true quite especially constant happiness under the thighs and in the back and very flexible I recommend this seat. I tested much pure me they is ideal. I add photographs to prove that it goes well in the car.

Bye Peter

I tried Tillets briefly last year and after sitting in them for a couple of minutes my back discomfort increased compared to my MOGs. I didn’t analyze the difference, but my recollection is that the lower back area felt tighter in the Tillets -- this might be better for some, but is worse for me.

My dear wife made me back and seat pads using Backsaver foam from Pegasus. She covered them in Alcantera to match the seats, it made a world of difference.

Karl

Hi karl.

I have seen foam on their site before and wondered what made it so expensive? 1 inch thick is a lot in a tight seat. Can you tell us what the foam is like? Is it like a medium density closed cell or.....

The back saver is more like a gooey memory foam than anything else. I need the extra room in the seats and this foam brought me a little further out.

I found the backsaver pad to be temperature sensitive....the colder it is the stiffer it is.

I also have the backsaver from Pegasus. I bought the big size and covered the whole

seat. It's much better than the cheap foam it replaced. Bruce is correct, its temp

sensitive. Its the only thing I could find. But I like it.....
