Its out of a Canadian Company from recollection. Sister car in the range was a Beaver. So many jokes.... I saw this car a very long time ago - it is HUGE.

Yes I got the same email. It still relies on the seller being sensible and actually opening a negotiation with the highest bidder after the auction closes. The highest bidder cannot do this on their own. If they do not then there is no chance of settling an offline deal. That was my experience with the last time I was highest bidder on a Caterham on Bringatwat in 2025. 1

Yes, that was a new "feature" that was added with corporate ownership when Hearst Communications bought them a few years back. My opinion is that it's just another money grab. In the past, the high bidder got connected with the seller and they were free to negotiate a deal... or not. I was twice the high bidder on BAT auctions that didn't meet reserve. I ended up buying one car, and one time the seller thought the car was worth more than my offer. At that time, it was simply a deal between two people and not having to pay the 5% buyers premium made the difference in making the buyer and the seller happy. Now, with their new added "feature" the buyer and seller still negotiate just the same, but the buyer still gets the "benefit" of paying BAT a 5% premium.
wdb Posted January 25 Posted January 25 I was referring to getting the email notification, but yeah I agree: a) it takes both parties being reasonably sane; b) it is primarily a way for Hearst to keep their fingers in the pie a bit longer.
