Timothy Keith-Lucas started following Gas-station pumps for CSR cars.

I hate gas cans with "safety" nozzles with a passion. They are difficult to use and invariably leak all over me. The solution I found was this battery operated pump. You set the gas can on the ground beside the vehicle and drop the suction hose in the can. You clip the discharge hose into (yes, inside) the vehicle port. You turn it on. It does 3+ gallons per minute and has an automatic cut off that prevents overflow spills. Neat, tidy, a full tank every time. It costs $40. https://www.amazon.com/PETASOON-Patented-Transfer-Operated-Automatic/dp/B0GHDNVNN2/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?crid=36VZE4WYS4Q0&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.BoCuWZoWrQCc38XkuwpkL55hlphvatxqqXO5D4CZD5V-ZfTPUM7Ugf899YjRgxHDhHy10H4j4jiJKfES049CFtKaeU_qrkxKTQMLAz7nVvp8If5r6U_XXU6g0ShXTtigkiysEom7iqUBtUU6RdblMgnGMssz0-FkVMjo4IyPI7n2Jj7DVNjxQruNHGXOBhj26uSAeKSY8izIrcOsqlic2lJHhQ1dnV31gIrR76dhMNceoFoaFIrleWndzprORn7zTcVrEfECHlyDVx4LNNTc_gDuwr2PvuQbAR1kT4Fq79M.QV0U1JKCosqZVLE0rPYSgOMdgF8gpugwqd3k4WTdwEs&dib_tag=se&keywords=fuel%2Btransfer%2Bpump&qid=1781350953&sprefix=fuel%2B%2Caps%2C241&sr=8-2-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&th=1

Hoosiers r8 mounted to the extra set of wheels. 195/60/13 front and 215/60/13 rears. The tire shop took days to mount them as they broke 3 “spoons” (I’m guessing the name of this ) on the tire mounting machine. That bead is no joke. But to his credit he was not going to concede the defeat. Tires mounted and the clearance isn’t all that different to the Toyo r888r. I think (hope) the stay clearance works. Have not had the courage to test them on the road yet. I guess if I can make a track day soon ish will be the real test. I have run the r888r hard and haven’t seen and contact. Will see how much the Hoosiers will deflect at full tilt on the track.

Today I met up with @Frankie for a drive along East Canyon Reservoir. Great weather and a nice, leisurely drive. https://maps.app.goo.gl/tfgTPuN7eFgVYyoq7 A couple of pictures from my dashcam, and Frank may post some video after he goes through it:

I really meant to update this sooner.... I did enjoy driving the car late into the year. Even took it out on Thanksgiving day because we were having such a mild November. Then parked it until about March. A couple of updates: I finally got around to ordering a really expensive cable to be able to plug into the standalone ECU. I don't know anything about tuning, but there was one thing I wanted to address. When I first purchased the car the redline was set to 6500 rpm or something, which was lower than what I wanted and felt the engine was capable of, so when I had the car dyno tuned I had the tuner set the redline to 8k rpm, based off of the specs for the Crower cams and valvetrain. No problems running it up to 8k, but long story short I realized I don't actually know for sure what components are in the engine, and if the bottom end has been touched at all, so to err on the side of caution, I bought the cable to be able to set the redline to a more conservative 7200. Mostly have been occasionally commuting to work and doing little drives here and there. Went to a casual cars & coffee at my work with my three-year old. I also bought a new shift knob. I wanted something taller for ergonomics, and the JGTC-style knob from my old Miata wasn't actually the right thread pitch. Pictured is the Lotus branded knob the car came with, the JGTC-style knob, and the new one: I'm satisfied with the purchase so far, and keeps up the tradition of buying a shift knob for every car I buy. Fixed an exhaust leak from where a gasket blew out, including replacing two sets of four stacked washers being used to fit these bolts with some proper spacers. I pulled the muffler heat shield off and gave the muffler a quick polish. I kind of like the look, and might keep the heat shield off (until I burn my leg).

Neither am I. My autocross pick for light cars is Yoko A052. The R888R tires were new on the car when I bought the car.

No, sadly. I know it was originally specced with one, but I recall Josh mentioned it fouled the steering column. -

On 15 inch wheels do: front 19psi cold rear 20psi cold I think the CSR owners manual is a single psi off that. Experiment but you are aiming for about 25psi once tire is up to hot temps. If you ever go 13 inch wheels then it’s: front 18psi cold rear 19psi cold I'm not a fan of the R888R. After a few sessions you will find they go off and start to understeer like a pig.

I'm using Bring a Trailer to sell my car, trailer, and other items to make a track-ready package. Per BaT's rules, if you have any interest please look to BaT instead of inquiring through USA7's. I will reply here with a link to the BaT ad once it goes live. For those of you with history of the car or just feel like participating, I would be very grateful if you would comment in the BaT ad with whatever you feel is appropriate. Thanks! Greg

I don't know. I know the 1700 Super Sprint came to me with a MOCAL oil cooler on the front of the radiator, held in brackets similar to this one. I think my brackets went to the ends of the cooler, and the little pads might be 90 degrees out from the ones in the photo. Of course, I don't know where they are right now. I don't race. I do autocross and pleasure driving mostly in Minnesota. My air-horns live in that space in 74PHIL now.

pethier started following CSR tire pressures?

Taking out the CSR 260 for an autocross practice day. Wondering where to start with tire pressures. New Toyo R888R tires 195/50 R15 x 6.5” width (fr) 225/45 R15 x 8.5” width (rear) We expect temps in the 70s F. Asphalt is in pretty-good shape at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds lot. I have been using 20psi all around on my square setup on my other Sevens, using Yokohama A052 tires. For 74PHIL that has been 195/50 R15 x 6.5” width (Prisoner wheels). I have a set of 8" wheels on which I will probably go to 205/50 R15. I have not had fresh tires on the Birkin until just now. Tuesday I put new 205/50 R15 Yokos on its 7" rims. Those tires will go to the lucky person who buys the car. As time goes by, I expect to switch the CSR to the Yoko tires to get legal in XU. Only change is that the rear tires would change to an aspect ratio of 50. For now, it's Exhibition class locally. For the Practice day I hope to have both the CSR and the Birkin out. MACs "over-70 drivers don't need to work" rule means I have six hours to do whatever I want. 74PHIL will sit out this event. I am putting its passenger seat into the CSR. My new Tillet seat will be a while getting here. I can't wait to try out the CSR quick-ratio steering rack on a slalom. I't's about 1.5 turns LTL.

How consistent has Cat been with the radiator mount spacing over the range of models and years, such as these are spaced? Or are they exclusively a crossflow/Ford engine fittting?

SLR cage the same in CSR and SV? Considering Storm Cap

The Storm Cap fits just fine. A bit of variation for the intake scoop. See Photo of your car you took today thread. -

@pethier when you get a chance to look through the owners guide I linked to in the other thread, find the sub section under Fuel called Filling Difficulties. As per @Croc's guidance above, they state to fill it slowly and not to fully squeeze the handle. Their advice differs only in that they state not to rotate the nozzle. However, like Croc, I find a slight rotation is helpful when filling my car.
-
Its the same. I don't need a funnel. Just put nozzle in. Twist to left slightly and pump in at half speed. Just need to be patient.
-
Given I have owned a CSR for 15+ years, I have made it a point of collecting technical information over the years to help me. It has been pulled together from other owners of CSRs I know globally. All of that gets put in the library for sharing.
-
I've had an issue getting gas only once in my CSR, and it was entirely my fault. Someone came up while I was filling up and asked me questions, and I kept going after the first click like I was filling up a regular street car. Excluding that one exception, I've had no issues in MD, VA, and NY.

Great looking car. Location? -
I picked up some pop rivets with oversized heads

I epoxied BigHead fastener to front fender & bolted on Lexan flaps. They’re flexible enough & have worked great for over 10 years.

If you can’t find a bolt-in bar, I’ve fabricated several roll bars and roll cages for members here. I have a small race-prep & fabrication shop here in PA and can build whatever you would like and to your spec. Just an offer if you can’t find what you’re looking for. A cage will take a week, but I can do a roll bar for you over a weekend.
