  2. Before Harbor Freight trip, it was cars and coffee... Hey, we're all Ford-powered! I was really surprised to see a 620R at the gathering as well! 19504739-3159-4043-AF40-D2215D8D32EA_1_201_a.heic

  4. Doug refers to Caterham as ultra focused sports car 4:32 in the video
  5. The “Picture I took of my car today” thread revealed that some of us have shared time with a Europa. Here’s Black Beauty 3841R again. Brought her home on my 55th birthday. Dad owned some Dodge and Plymouth dealerships back in the muscle car days. Once when I was about 20 I was out with Dad buying cars. We went to a Ford dealer somewhere and there sat a perfect JPS. Dad knew that was my dream car. And that I knew he could buy it for me. We were there to buy cars, but cars to sell for profit. Dad said, and I told this at his funeral. “You’ll have to do that for yourself son”. It took 35 years but it came true. Thank you Dad for helping me believe it could happen. There are other stories with this wonderful little car. I am sure that everyone who posts here about their Europa wishes they knew where she was now. I titled this including that we have had a Seven in our garage at some point too. So the thread might not get scarce so quickly

  6. Sorry, we're getting a little off topic here but I had to join in. Our 1973 TCS (registered as a ’74) was yellow. After a Jeep Cherokee ran a red light and drove over the front end it spent a year in the body shop. During that time I decided to have the colour changed to red. By the time it was finished we had become a family of four. So we sold it to a young mechanic who lived in Toronto. Years later he decided to strip it down to restore/repair/modify it. I’m sure I saw it up for sale as a stalled project a couple or three decades ago. I have no idea if/when it sold or where it is today. I’d like another one but I’m very picky about them now having learned all the problems that came with them after owning one.
  7. COOL JPS!! I loved how Lotus had the nerve to charge ~$100 for the black paint, and admit that they had to do extra sanding of the top, so the waves in the 'glas didn't show! Here's a couple of pics of my old Europa TC - (now living in Holland!) --Bob
  8. Black Beauty 3841R was my dream car, owned her twice.
  9. I see in your signature, that you & I have a lot in common - I had a '72 Europa Twincam for 21 years. Sold it in 2001, due to lack of garage space. Replaced it in 2007 with an Elise. Added a Seven in 2015. Enjoying both now, immensely! --Bob Collum
  10. A few pictures from our East Coast Lotus Meet - we had FOUR Sevens at Summit Point Raceway... We did several 'touring' laps, during a break in the racing action. A GREAT TIME! --Bob Collum
  11. Could someone with this stuff in their head tell me the specification for the brake shoes for a 1962 Series 2 America? They appear very ordinary, but as usual the parts dealers name the more common cars that use them but not the Lotus Seven. Thanks.
  12. Posts like this should be illegal:).

  15. We had a long weekend up here so Sunday afternoon we took a drive. We traveled south east about 27 miles on nice sweeping back roads to fill up with fuel. We save on average 32 cents per liter, ($1.12 per US gallon) by buying on the first nations land. We continued back west along some very scenic roads approximately 39 miles to arrive an hour early for the Sunday Cruise Night in Trenton, Ontario. We ate an early meal on the covered outdoor patio at the grill overlooking the parking lot and watched as others started to arrive. It was a great turnout for the first show of the season with 110 registered cars. Dozens more came and went over the course of the evening. By 7:30-ish we were beat and decided to leave. We drove almost straight north the 14 miles to arrive back at home. In total about 80 sunny, fun filled miles. Tonight, (Monday) was the Brighton Ontario Cruise. The wife spent all today working in the garage to make room for her new to her Spitfire and was too tired so I did this event solo. The first photo was taken at the Trenton show and the second photo at Brighton. I put the plexy wind defectors on just for show. I prefer to drive with the doors on to cut down on the wind.
  16. Not that I know of, because I only ever filled it up with 5 gallons and then added 5 gallons to an empty tank. But it is easier to immediately stop the flow than a can that's tipped over. The dispensing lever on top is spring-loaded.
  17. Does it shut off at a certain level?

  19. William is correct with the post and files. I grabbed the STL from there, then uploaded and ordered through Xometry (a contract 3d print company). I had them printed in Nylon 6 CF (carbon fiber), solid infill. It was about $50 shipped. They came out pretty much perfect. I did need to widen the hole for the door post - pretty minor!
  20. @jmaz STLs here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1-N1xAZflfujHWm8XC1FcDFjQnePVB3mI Found here: https://www.caterham7diaries.com/post/eccles-mirror-mounts Print it in something that can handle UV from the sun!
  21. What 3D print model did you use for the Spa mirrors? Is it one that you can and are willing to share? What type of print filament did you use? I figured I'd try to get the Eccles version mounts from somewhere, but no idea how long that might take. Ordering anything from the UK these days seems to be a crap shoot, what with tariffs, backlogs, etc.

  23. Here are the weights of Caterham's SV Track Day Roll Bar and Track Day Rollcage measured during a recent swap: 18.2 lb / 8.3 kg for the Roll Bar 26.6 lb / 12.1 kb for the Rollcage Difference between the two is 8.4 lb or 3.8 kg. The swap was straightforward but difficult as the cage's mount points didn't align well with the chassis, and the carbon fiber sill protectors must be shortened or replaced. If there is interest I'll be happy to elaborate, but my advice is only do this if you truly feel you need the cage. I'm selling the dedicated track car so felt replacing the roll bar with a cage made sense for me, but it wasn't long in the process before I was thinking about just keeping the track car.

  24. Would something like this work? https://www.amazon.com/BTMETER-Travel-Protect-Handheld-Anemometer/dp/B07JVNYNB3/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=34QWL1KG36VVG&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.Hku2tRKa0IcyYiLdSpw_rBTmZmcoVh17yuDdzcO5YBIO0iCPodLACS4BuzC2XbBcAOdcKFXeuZ0RgoNoj7IEAi1ZW5mCpmNjkiCbRM1SkFrL-cnJbkYqt2MuDMfVZTuN2JWDBTqoisU9AFext8uSIgiXC45V3rtRuLonbpHZ1DseOSg_vkkQssXCrYQvowezbCGCBp1-X4RFk2KsZG40rP2wknEKwKmEWv1Gg1y5hepoy7PWvb_68p_hDW4h0UdE92aId7AGsBW7LFyFsIoAXje3JAAFRZYugxKDpcFxPGI.h7USq8Cp-pyGHminHej30D6fkaC7LETzdAFoxBBsl04&dib_tag=se&keywords=wireless%2Bair%2Bflow%2Bmeter&qid=1779142854&s=industrial&sprefix=wireless%2Bair%2Bflow%2Bmeter%2Cindustrial%2C120&sr=1-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&th=1
  25. Got my car back on the road just in time for Free Bucket Weekend! Now that all the chassis hardware is torqued, time for a wash...
  26. I'll take any excuse I can get to link to the definitive article about the Caterham's exploits at the Nurburgring 24 Hours. I'm surprised the special edition didn't have red wings, considering the red rollbar seems to be a tribute... https://www.autosport.com/general/news/when-caterham-enjoyed-its-finest-hour-in-improbable-surroundings/10341200/
  27. My one last (for now) thing to add is when I imagined that I'd be filling gas up at home more often, I splurged on one of these. A gas can that you don't need to tip to control the flow. So luxurious! (I've used it precisely once) https://www.surecanusa.com/product-page/5-gallon-gasoline-surecan
  28. Could you guys recommend a data logging air speed / flow sensor that is small and self contained that can be placed directly in front of a 7 coolant radiator to measure airflow rates at speed? Data logging because I will probably send it to a volunteer to record the data. So why not just hold a meter out the window of my own car? I suspect the airflow inside a 7 nose is not as linear as direct outside air. I wish to establish a baseline airflow to simulate in my garage for tuning. I also suspect nose cone airflow to be surprisingly deficient requiring additional baffling for effective cooling. As Lotus already accounted for on the S2s with the standard radiator air dam. I don't know why Cat didn't continue the practice. Anyway, I don't have time to shop for this myself. Help!
