  1. Somewhere in a thread I recall seeing a photo of a plate that had been folded. The stamped numbers were the only thing I saw. It was mounted low in a spoiler kind'a way. :smash:
  2. At the time I got my policy, my daughter was in the house and under 25. She was excluded, no problem.
  3. My car is insures thru Heacock Classic. They insures the car with the previous owner. They have the 3000 mile limit also, but I have not been asked to verify my actual mileage. It's not a problem, I'm under 1000 a year so far. I looked at another classic insurer, but their information made it sound like I could only drive to car shows only. My policy allows pleasure driving (the whole point):auto:, so it is a second car. Also, the car must be garaged in a secure location, ie inside. The cost is reasonable. PM for contact info. Good luck.
  4. I guess each situation/application has its' own particular conditions. I have an unmodified* xflow and it is used for street driving. In my use of the car, I'm not flogging it 100% of the time. For those who track any type of car, they will be incurring greater stresses and increase their need for service and rebuilding. I have recently installed wrap and have observed two things so far. Less heat radiating on the driver and a single "backfire" after shutdown. After I turn the motor off, there is a single low energy "pop". It takes 3 seconds to occur. Kinda funny. :jester: *(unmodified except for the header wrap)
  5. What kind of stresses should I be concerned about?
  6. Even if you win the rat race, you're still a rat. :ack:
  7. Before you do any disassembly, do a pressure test to confirm the location of the leak. The tool attaches like a radiator cap and has a pump to raise the pressure. It should also have a relief valve. Good luck.
  8. Welcome back! Any adjustment to the 'merican way of life? :flag:  :deadhorse:
  9. What type of tire are you after, all weather, dry, autox?
  10. My car has a solidstate fuel pump only. It starts pumping when the ignition is on. I let it run a few seconds before hitting the starter. Since I'm the 4th owner, I have no idea if it ever had a mechanical fuel pump. The electric fuel pump is one of those little cubes with a fitting on either side. It's mounted on top of the transmission top plate and gets 12v from the battery side of the coil, an easy hook-up. There is also a fuel pressure regulator set @ 2PSI. It starts up without much fuss as long as I have the choke set right. Hope this helps, good luck!
  11. I have added fiberglass insulation tape to the header and it has reduced the heat in the footwell/tunnel area. :cooldude: :hurray:
  12. I took the car out for a blat in the afternoon for an hour and a half. It was 85F and sunny. The engine temp ran 85 to 100C, the warmer was at red lights. The inside did get warm but not too hot when wearing shorts. Also, the foam surrounding the battery was not distorted by the heat as before.
  13. After "curing" the wrap, I was a bit surprised by the color change.
  14. I picked up my ceramic header on Monday and they have nice satin silver exterior coating. Since the inside was bare, I decided to install the fiberglass wrap. The majority of the last section is outside I didn't wrap it.
  15. Like the 4 post lift, is it a new addition or was it filled with something else?
  16. They have updated the photo gallery with the 2013 event. I have the only 7 there last year. They got a good angle on it. http://atlantabritishcarfayre.com/gallery/
  17. John, you did chose the proper location for a thread of this nature. Having lived in the South all my life, I don't have your experience of traveling, but I do read the papers so to speak. There is no such thing as fairness on this earth. Each society has it's class or caste system. If you really want to be a pessimist you may say, "Life's a b!tch, then you die" Having said that, Don't give up! Make some lemonade.
  18. I guess the only time DOT inspection might happen is if you get stopped. This is something I like to avoid. I luckily was behaving when passing two radar traps this afternoon. :cooldude:
  19. This is at least "OFF TOPIC" Also, good use of painter's tape. :jester:
  20. Nice!!!
  21. xcarguy, Thanks for the photos, keep 'em coming. :bigear:
  22. Tony Fernandes says he loves Caterham Cars, hope he doesn't love'em to death.
  23. Original? The ID plate has CATERHAM on it. Hmmm
  24. Hope y'all have a blast. I can't wait to see pictures and hear tales of hot laps and lawn mowing. I'll be doing hot laps on a lawn tractor at the church. Tow safely :driving: Have a good 4th :flag:
