  1. I am going to build one, but use PVC pipe instead of metal for the initial implementation. My version will eliminate the spare wheen and use the space for storage instead.
  2. Sometimes the push rod cannot be adjusted enough. That was the case with my 7 that has a hydraulic clutch. Instead of a proper lock nut it had a regular, thicker nut. The 1-2 mm extra that I got when I replaced the nut was enough to fix the problem, at least for a while, until I realized that the main problem was a worn-out master cylinder. :-)
  3. It's a common tale with software platforms that support plugins. Nobody is responsible for maintaining the whole and rarely does the platform owner test the plugins against new version, or vice versa. In my Porsche club we are dealing with similar issues with WordPress. By mid-summer we will be migrating to a different platform and clean up the mess.
  4. Great. I am also seeing a lot of interest on other sites I have posted the plan on.
  5. Often the problem isn't the gear box, but the clutch dragging. Try pumping the clutch pedal and see if it makes a difference.
  6. I plan to arrange two Sevens Cars and Coffees this year at Minuteman Airfield in Stow. Other Lotus cars are welcome to join the lineup. Minuteman Airfield is a really friendly place. Planes to watch, a cafe where we can sit down and get a refreshment or lunch, and tons of room to show off cars. I will have dates in a week or two. In the meantime, spread the word! Anker
  7. I just traded the best car I have ever owned, a 2009 Mercedes CLK 350 convertible. Loved the car, but with four open top/convertible cars and just a Chevvy Volt as the "roomy" car, I needed something that could haul a load, relatively speaking, so I traded it for a 2018 Acura RDX. That was the last year of the 3.5 liter naturally aspirated V6. I am just not ready for a 2 liter turbo engine. The Acura is great and spotless. Waiting for the first shopping cart ding.
  8. Great! I was looking for a head gasket for my 1700! Thanks for the info!
  9. My wife has had one ride in my 1987 S3. The seller and I each had to grab an arm to help her out, so that was her first and only ride in it. She did enjoy it and approved of the purchase!
  10. PM sent for Brookland screens.

If you take the cover off, which I have also considered, can you see the fill hole inside from the opening? I like the idea of a bung and a home made dip stick.

The trouble is that the plug is almost impossible to get to. It is up against the driver's footwell. I plan to drill a hole in the footwell side so I can get at the plug from there.
  13. I have decided to try to assemble a registry of New England owners of Sevens. To be added, send me a PM here, an email to anker at ankersoft dot com, or Anker Berg-Sonne on Facebook Messenger. I am the only person in the world with this name, so I am easy to find. In the message, include your name, your car and your contact information. I will not share you details with anybody without your consent. Anker
  14. I am going to try to assemble a contact list for New England. If you care to send me your name, a few words about your car and contact information I will add you to the list. Send an email to anker at ankersoft dot com.
  15. I am in Stow, very close to Marlborough and have been mulling a meet once the COVID restrictions are lifted. The biggest challenge is going to be reaching all the 7 owners in the area. This is one tool, and I know of a couple of others. Frankie Darro's Facebook group Caterham and 7 Owners in USA and Canada is one, and so is Arlington Classic Car club. Finally there are those associated with Lotus Ltd. Here in Mass we have NELLIE, which I am a member of, and a couple others. We will still miss a few, but I think we have most of them covered. Anker
  16. You don't need to try any more. They are crap for the track!
  17. One of the first things I did after buying my Caterham was to install an air horn on a separate button. I have used it several time on the highway when SUVs and trucks start pulling into me because I am below their window bottoms. This is made worse by a number of drivers who apparently don't understand what rear view mirrors are for.
  18. Sounds great! Looking forward to it!
  19. I'll have to check the receipt and get back to you. Yes, the review is a blast!
  20. Mine hesitated between 2K and 3K RPM, and then picked up from 3K and up. Best of luck getting it fixed. It made a huge difference to me to finally get it right!
  21. I did, just giving some advice! 4
  22. Didn't get any better later on. Cost effective I wouldn't say. The best I can say is that cheap tires like that will give you plenty of warning that you are torturing them.
  23. That was horrible understeer in the first turn. Painful to watch!
  24. Pegasus will sell you several sizes of idle jets and reimburse you for the ones you don't need. I would go down to 50s and see how it runs. My car had too narrow jets and had hesitation for the first 33 years of its life. I had bigger idle jets installed and its like night and day. Pulls nicely through the whole rev range.
  25. My apologies for my very negative reaction. I was caused by the ad claiming that it is Lotus 7 or Caterham. The build seems to be completely different from a standard S3 chassis. The Marketplace ad also headlines it as a Lotus Elise. All very strange. Anker
