  1. Looks like the "Contact Us" link is the only option for the time being: http://www.uscaterham.com/contact/contact.html
  2. I see this as a good example of the difference between imply and infer. It is easy to see how one might infer from Caterham's press release what the AutoWeek article clearly implies, mostly by the use of the word "legally", but the wording of the original release did NOT specifically imply anything other than a new distributor. At least not how I read it. Dave - I'm sure Caterham can help figure out a way for you to get a check to them.
  3. Nothing but respect for Mr. Ali, and the car looks intriguing and all, but... couldn't they come up with a company name that doesn't rhyme with "penis"?
  4. The Caterham press release reads nothing like the AutoWeek article. AW's Graham Kozak has changed the story significantly with just a few added words. That's just plain irresponsible journalism on the part of Mr. Kozak, as well as AutoWeek generally. Boo, hiss. I see the federal regulations as fairly straightforward - until an engine or gearbox is installed, it's all just "car parts", in some stage of assembly. Once an engine or gearbox has been installed, it is forevermore a "car", even if the engine and/or gearbox is subsequently removed. They have to draw the line somewhere, so even if they move that line to include/exclude other equipment, it just changes the maximum level of assembly which "car parts" can be readily imported without crossing the line to be defined as a "car", and subject to significant restrictions. NOTE: I am not an attorney, and have no relevant training or experience in any legal field.
  5. Caterham acquired the rights to and started building the 7 in 1973. 1973 + 40 = 2013 It is almost certainly a 2013 model. edit: Looks great!
  6. Pr&c
  7. Meteor Motorsport offer a blade-type adjustable ARB for S3 widetrack, as well as a double-adjustable model (blades on both sides) and one for the SV.
  8. Wheel size and manufacturer may affect your brake choice. Might be a good idea to ask Carl (owner/operator of Sevenspeed) directly, to be sure you get a complete package that will work as it should with the wheels you have/will have right out of the box. I'm sure he would be more than happy to help.
  9. You have Imperial, as the Caterham metric chassis did not exist in 2003.
  10. Google "Borla" which leads to: borla.com which leads to: borlainduction.com Done.
  11. Don't sell your car short! A 15% increase would be calculated as 74hp X 1.15 = 85hp, but to calculate a 15% loss, it would be 74hp ÷ 0.85 = 87hp.
  12. From all of the posts above, the logical conclusion is: Good driving school instructors are made from titanium. They are strong, light, and tough, but flexy-springy, and cost a lot.
  13. The Caterham 7 has grown as well, but the difference is, they also still offer the original size (and without all of the other weight-adding stuff Porsches and others now have). http://i321.photobucket.com/albums/nn384/BBL-Sean/forum_photos/7_sizecomparison_zpsde33182a.png
  14. That's assuming the person(s) in the pick-up are okay - I can see no mention of their well being in the posts above.
  15. Why wait until January? A call to DMV should determine if numbers are available, and last year at this time there were still some available. I could make a suggestion here, but it is already pretty obvious.
  16. It's as simple as searching for "Brutus 750" in your search engine of choice to see that this thing has been around for at least a year in another guise. As for the electric bicycles, it seems just a bit hokey to me to make the casing for the electric motor part resemble an old V-twin, but I do like the execution of it. Reminds me of Schwinn's Apple Krate bikes from the 1970s - which are now worth far more than they cost at that time!
  17. DMV issued a memo a few years back regarding brake & light inspections that will apply, should it be determined that you need a B&L inspection: SOURCE: http://dmv.ca.gov/vehindustry/vin_memos/vin2011/11vin07.pdf The only real impact of this directive is that after getting your SPCNS sequence number, you will effectively need to get B&L first before CHP or BAR. Before B&L, 1-day vehicle moving permit only can be issued; after B&L, 30- 60- or ?-day TOP can be issued. Still, as of early last year, this directive wasn't yet being universally applied.
  18. Could be Rotus (Maryland) possibly.
  19. Intermittent (or consistent) bouncy gauge needles on a Caterham are frequently caused by a "dodgy earth", or inconsistent ground. Not sure about CSRs in particular, but a common culprit on a S3 is the ground point under the dash on the right side where the wiper motor mounts. Worth a look, anyway.
  20. Good job, Skip. When the slideshow started, I saw "1/235" at the top, and thought "Wow, this is going to take a while", but then it got to the end and I thought "Wow, that went quickly - I'll have to watch again".
  21. Brian, your timing is impeccable. On Saturday, 2013 September 21 at Vasona Park in Los Gatos there will be a picnic that is likely to have a number of cars. Starts at 10:00 a.m., a quick blat from around 10:30, and the obligatory ceremonial grilling of the meat upon returning to the park, somewhere around 1:00 p.m. Please see the California Caterham Club's Events section for further details (though that's most of it, right there). Please feel free to join in if you can make it. :seeya: Here is a photo from the 1st annual NorCal 7s picnic, held last year in October: http://i321.photobucket.com/albums/nn384/BBL-Sean/forum_photos/2012-10-20_picnic_cars.jpg
  22. Disassembling a car and importing it into the U.S.A. as car parts is a violation of federal law, and is best avoided.
  23. test http://i321.photobucket.com/albums/nn384/BBL-Sean/forum_photos/arff-r90cw_zpsb9b171f1.jpg
  24. I have heard that the wife of Jeremy Clarkson (Top Gear) owns one, or did own one not long ago.
  25. In a word, yes. Los Angeles, San Jose, San Francisco, all driven multiple times in traffic w/ no problems (although I'd prefer not to, but sometimes it cannot be avoided). Croc seems to attract trouble.
