  1. what discription of goods are you importing it as?
  2. Its to set the bonded bushes in the stance that we tighten suspension on the ground
  3. Does anybody have a list of OEMs for these bushes? Example, the Y9 & Y16 were common to Austin & MG.
  4. Most tanks mounted in the "triangle", in front of the pax foot well, usually clear. Is your setup different?
  5. Would this not be a solution? It appears to be offset. https://www.burtonpower.com/engine-to-bellhousing-lower-dirt-plate-2000e-fp656.html If you get this, also get the matching upper blanking plate. And a some clutch cables.
  6. is this something a cutter can fix? ate you not wanting to alter the original plate? Shopped Burton and Pegasus?
  7. I do apologize for being less than polite. I could only find one thing to complain about. The car as a whole is stunning and Im a sucker for yellow. I would like to know if that curved windscreen cuts down on the buffeting???
  8. History.... that pic was days after I took possession. the previous owner had made a Lotus clone, even with Smiths gauges. The first thing I did was return it to proper badging. I do realize it's necessary sometimes to register your 7 as a Lotus and badge it up to pass the scrutinizer, I'll accept that.
  9. Nice fun car. Please remove the Lotus badge.
  10. can we have a mfg and model #?
  11. Isn't it usually the simple stuff...
  12. Plenty of electronic dizzys out there programmed for the Xflow. Aldon Ignitor on mine. They take a lot of the guess work out of setup. all you do is adjust to full advance and dizzy does the rest. Not to put too fine a point on it... Timing has to be right of course.
  13. I understand the sentiment and for some cars, an original resto makes sense. But not a 7! I believe Judy would say the car is better prepped now than it ever was when she had it. This car is beautiful in yellow! It absolutely shines. It suits the car. The smiles, cell phone pics and admiration are all there in abundance waiting for you out there. I see no economy or improvement in repainting it! A red engine would be nice.
  14. I don't agree with a few details on the last build, painting the scuttle bulkhead and the Dzuz on the top bonnet. Otherwise, I can't find any fault in the color. The paint is good and to recover the car for no other reason than authenticity is just more money and trouble to fix a non-problem. The original paint is gone so nothing is being restored. The only good reason to change the colors would be to suit the new owner, not the previous owner. These cars have a curse that follow them and it is very present with this car. As it is well stated in the Simple Sevens history page, a previous owner, Brian Herrman, started an extensive restoration and "ran out of steam". Then the project languishes for years, about 23 years, until the owner realizes he is no longer capable of finishing the project and sells it off. Don't let this happen again. I would recommend improving on the small things that need done, but keep the car a driver and appreciate the investment the previous owner made (Jim Downing?). What is his story?
  15. Could I get a bonnet length measurement? Top center from scuttle to nose. Apparently there is variation from what Arch manufacturers for the Caterham. This may be useful to anyone wanting to buy new panels for a Lotus. I would really like to see the "before" pictures. don't worry, nobody will criticize the condition. Many cars start as rescues. Mine for example. Its not a rescue yet, but I'm working on it, lol.
  16. @jordway Are you saying the problem is now solved with the new battery?
  17. I like the seat harness bolt head caps. Source?
  18. Thanks Steve. I need to get the rebuild parts and send them to someone to do the work. Maybe the carbs too. Or should I just wait on the carbs to see if I they need it. IIRC, l was pretty good at using fuel stabilizer. I have yet to crack one open to see any varnish.. I do have rebuild kits I ordered for DCOE 40s but what I got says on the pack its for 45s. Can I get a confirmation they are interchangeable? The package doesn't specify.
  19. What say the gallery? Car sitting for ten years. Standard Cat Triumph Girling T14 fronts and Ital drum axle. Im running out of energy and brain cells. Shall I rebuild everything or replace everything? Im not opposed to upgrading the fronts. never could lock them before. The MC is 50/50 so Im looking for a bias device, not a variable valve but a proportioning device.
  20. Is that a real Lotus nose? Hard to tell by the pic, but I'll bet its not far off, maybe three inches narrower?
  21. I am looking for a Lotus nose as well, possibly early Caterham before they raised the bonnet height. Need it for a Downdraft conversion and/or DCOEs. The height was added to clear the belt driven engines better. But I think the original angle looks much better and better for a bonnet with hood scoop. I hope Arch will turn out an older bonnet. Update, Crickets from Arch. A post on C&L7C says that Arch isn't making Lotus height, or length, bonnets.
  22. That is an enterprising idea, but I doubt there is much demand. I expect to incur a 20% performance decrease wirh the downdraft. I doubt many will want that. Chris has only one original scoop and can supply the tiny global demand. I really don't want to thin out Chris's sales prospects competing If he does the investment and makes a quality item. If he doesn't follow through and I found on original on my own, I would. But its the same situation, low demand and nobody would find me. I would have to sell through a larger supplier like Redline or Demon Tweaks and the margins thin out with shipping, etc.
  23. talked to Chris M. today. He has one original scoop he uses for casting repros. He intends to have some made. No promises on when. He did tell me rhat he has moved to his retirement estate and will be working the "front end" of the business from there, the management side while his son and family do the picking and fulfilling. Chris will remain the point of contact for inquiries.
