  1. I have seen several ways to route, or not route, the coolant line that runs from the head to the water pump inlet, with or without a heater installed. I have seen: * the coolant pump port capped. * the coolant pump port run to an elevated header tank (with a top radiator bleeder line run to the tank) *The head coolant outlet port run to the coolant pump without a heater in between. I am very interested in learning what has worked for you guys. As for my car the ports are capped but I'm not opposed to doing something with that head coolant flow if it improves cooling. No, I'm not installing a heater.
  2. I suppose "stock overdue" is a more polite way of saying the same thing...
  3. You can't use this? https://www.burtonpower.com/bellhousing-rubber-gaiter-sohc-ford-pinto-x-flow-cologne-bh6r.html
  4. What are the issues with a current Caterham? I know that at some point Caterham raised the bonnet height to clear taller engines and current Caterham S3 bonnet should be shorter than a Lotus spec bonnet. I only ask for the learning.
  5. Thats orange mixed with green then sitting for 9 years. What do you think of Red Line Watter Wetter?
  6. Electrics BAH! https://mossmotors.com/washer-pump-manual
  7. Incredible project! Ihe intake plenum seals the deal. Who makes it?
  8. This topic is golden. Too bad the subject doesn't mention the heating discussion (at this time). all this valuable information could be better located in the future. My input here is only to share that when I took my Xflow water pump off, I found it to be 100% clogged with congealed goop. If you haven't had the pump off and the cooling jacket flushed, might be the thing to do.
  9. I had no worries about emissions...Gas burners run very clean now. I will say that its nice to not go to fuel stations. Charge at home or work place and eliminating the gas station is something I think a lot of folks don't realize how nice it is.
  10. what discription of goods are you importing it as?
  11. Its to set the bonded bushes in the stance that we tighten suspension on the ground
  12. Does anybody have a list of OEMs for these bushes? Example, the Y9 & Y16 were common to Austin & MG.
  13. Most tanks mounted in the "triangle", in front of the pax foot well, usually clear. Is your setup different?
  14. Would this not be a solution? It appears to be offset. https://www.burtonpower.com/engine-to-bellhousing-lower-dirt-plate-2000e-fp656.html If you get this, also get the matching upper blanking plate. And a some clutch cables.
  15. is this something a cutter can fix? ate you not wanting to alter the original plate? Shopped Burton and Pegasus?
  16. I do apologize for being less than polite. I could only find one thing to complain about. The car as a whole is stunning and Im a sucker for yellow. I would like to know if that curved windscreen cuts down on the buffeting???
  17. History.... that pic was days after I took possession. the previous owner had made a Lotus clone, even with Smiths gauges. The first thing I did was return it to proper badging. I do realize it's necessary sometimes to register your 7 as a Lotus and badge it up to pass the scrutinizer, I'll accept that.
  18. Nice fun car. Please remove the Lotus badge.
  19. can we have a mfg and model #?
  20. Isn't it usually the simple stuff...
  21. Plenty of electronic dizzys out there programmed for the Xflow. Aldon Ignitor on mine. They take a lot of the guess work out of setup. all you do is adjust to full advance and dizzy does the rest. Not to put too fine a point on it... Timing has to be right of course.
  22. I understand the sentiment and for some cars, an original resto makes sense. But not a 7! I believe Judy would say the car is better prepped now than it ever was when she had it. This car is beautiful in yellow! It absolutely shines. It suits the car. The smiles, cell phone pics and admiration are all there in abundance waiting for you out there. I see no economy or improvement in repainting it! A red engine would be nice.
  23. I don't agree with a few details on the last build, painting the scuttle bulkhead and the Dzuz on the top bonnet. Otherwise, I can't find any fault in the color. The paint is good and to recover the car for no other reason than authenticity is just more money and trouble to fix a non-problem. The original paint is gone so nothing is being restored. The only good reason to change the colors would be to suit the new owner, not the previous owner. These cars have a curse that follow them and it is very present with this car. As it is well stated in the Simple Sevens history page, a previous owner, Brian Herrman, started an extensive restoration and "ran out of steam". Then the project languishes for years, about 23 years, until the owner realizes he is no longer capable of finishing the project and sells it off. Don't let this happen again. I would recommend improving on the small things that need done, but keep the car a driver and appreciate the investment the previous owner made (Jim Downing?). What is his story?
  24. Could I get a bonnet length measurement? Top center from scuttle to nose. Apparently there is variation from what Arch manufacturers for the Caterham. This may be useful to anyone wanting to buy new panels for a Lotus. I would really like to see the "before" pictures. don't worry, nobody will criticize the condition. Many cars start as rescues. Mine for example. Its not a rescue yet, but I'm working on it, lol.
