  1. Welcome. Good luck.
  2. Interesting take on the seats. The car looks good. Did you do the work yourself?
  3. Certainly a serious looking car.
  4. I hear similar thing on the Elise centered sites. The days of simple cars are over. The days of inexpensive limited production cars never existed. The days of Americans knowing how to drive never existed. The truly hot stuff is all computer controlled, 4wd, turbo... The cheapest limited production car was the Elise and that is now only a memory. People pay $50K for a pickup truck and $30K for a Harley. As for actively participating in driving - forget it. Eat, drink, text and be merry. The automatic lane assist in your 2 ton behemoth with 12 air bags will keep you safe. Lets all be thankful that we can drive vintage cars and that Se7ens exist. Although sometimes I wonder about the simplicity of some of the monsters I see on this site. Rant over.
  5. Usually yachts that big have a toy garage. It holds the jet ski, ski boat, runabout, inflatable. You guys should know this stuff. This is a rich crowd isn't it?
  6. I thought that is why so many of us have roll bars. They make convenient handles for pushing. Just about the height of a shopping cart.
  7. If I ever built up a Catherham I would want the aluminum nose even though it is obscenely expensive. I even have the paint scheme worked out. Man - I need a big lottery hit.
  8. About 80 - 85 Talladega BMC 948 bored out to just under 1000cc with 2 large guys and a full windscreen.
  9. Ebay alert http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CHILDRENS-LOTUS-7-KITCAR-/330672192121?pt=UK_Toys_Games_Outdoor_Toys_ET&hash=item4cfd993a79 30 minutes to go. No skin in this game but thought I should post.
  10. Yesterday I was surfing for information about Bradley Field and found this. http://www.libertyfoundation.org/history-libertybelle.html There are very few WWII aircraft left that were actually in combat. It has been converted back from an engine test aircraft (how I remember it) to active duty condition. When it was at the New England Air Museum http://www.neam.org I had the opportunity to look around inside it a few times.
  11. Looking good! Remember - paint is for wimps!
  12. I now believe in the theory of always getting a lawyer for moving infractions. I think you pay the same or more money to the lawyer, court, political entity but you can generally get a non-moving violation, no points so no insurance jump. You got to pay the man but you also have to play the game.
  13. Chasing the Dragon Hillclimb Footage posted on Thursday, January 05, 2012 posted on Killboy. A Se7en running up the hill with a spin.
  14. At least when I was a kid, driving the back roads of New England it was common practice to have one wheel over the dashed line (if the road was important enough to be marked). The roads were narrow and it was considered the safe way to drive. Crowding the edge of the road was only done on blind corners and when there was another car. In both those cases you slowed down.
  15. I always make my passengers drink a liter of vodka before taking them on a ride.
  16. I've had a similar (Lotus manufactur) device on my Elan for years. No problem. I've never heard of a problem with fuel pooling. Feed it with a nice hose and an air filter and you will be in great shape - provided it fits that is.
  17. A rebuilt close ratio 3 speed Ford transmission arrived in the mail from jolly old England just before Christmas.
  18. They have already run over the dog! Looks good. There is leg room to grow, always nice with kids since they tend to grow a bit. I suggest making it easy to move the steering wheel to the center of the car. Kids grow sideways as well as up! Also a central steering location will allow dad to test drive it on occasion.

The fires seem to burn for a long time. The fires were still burning when cars that avoided the crash were in the pits.

    Log 31

We got back last night. A fun event. Lots of Esprits, Elise/Exige, Elan +2. Unfortunately the Evora's (7 of them) vastly outnumbered the Se7ens. I had expected a big showing frome the SoCal crowd.
  21. I was at the track as part of the LOG 31 group. It was confusing and sad when the announcement was made.
  22. If I had big money there is a good likelyhood that big toys would kill me off quickly.
  23. They are tough to find in good condition. I believe that the covers break. A local guy is looking for a set for a Lotus 907 engine. The best deal was a rebuilt pair out of England for $600. Good luck on you search.
  24. At one time I calculated the Bill Gates could buy Lotus. The company, the Team Lotus name and every car Lotus car ever built and still have money left over for a nice road trip.

We seem to be in general agreement concerning the styling.
