If anyone has any of these neat tools: o DB meter o Non-contact thermometer o Tire thermometer o remote thermometer and will be attending LOG would you be so kind to use some of your time in scanning some cars? I think it would be nice to get some readings off the various cars. I would like to know exactly how loud my Se7en is. I notice a hearing loss after a short drive without hearing protection (even when I drove with a helmet). I would like to know the sound pressure at the driver's and passenger’s ear level. The overall level of noise coming from the exhaust is also of interest. How hot do the EXHAUST, brakes, differential, radiator, sump and engine air intake get after a hard run. Does anyone actually heat up their Se7en’s tires on an autocross run? I think we could advance the knowledge base of Se7ens and have some fun.

Time for an update LOG 30 is coming together. This weekend I attended a planning meeting. A lot of work has been done and a lot still remains. 14 owners of Lotus Sevens have indicated their intention to attend with their cars (http://www.simplesevens.org is keeping track of this). The number of non-Lotus Se7ens remains unknown. If my memory is correct most LOGs have a ratio of about 1:3 (Lotus:non-Lotus Se7ens) so there should be a bunch of cars worth gawking. The hotel has 90 rooms reserved. Many people will be arriving early and leaving late. On a personal note - I hope people have been working on models, crafts and photographs for the arts & crafts contests. I certainly don’t want anyone on this forum to win the why I didn’t bring my Lotus essay contest. If anyone has any memorabilia stashed away that they would like to share there will be a gallery event.
  5. I looks like everyone was following the wave buy rules. Good job.
  6. There is a conversion to Lotus Twincam heads where the cast in intake is milled off. This is to allow a conversion to Webber or fuel injection. I've see the conversion fuel injection. It was clean but not to my taste.
  7. Yet another Se7enish car although a bit older http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2010/06/13/sia-flashback-sia-profile-of-brooks-stevens/
  8. Looks like a very expensive Se7en concept to me http://www.autoblog.com/2010/06/16/dynamo-concept-brings-the-blower-bentley-into-21st-century/
  9. There are aero Se7ens being produced today. They are called Westfield Elevens.
  10. We've been to some of the places and some of the roads you list. We drove in luxury in our M100. Crazy Horse has a good museum. The pictures of Mt Rushmore fully capture it. Watch out for crowding. We were there in the end of September and the crowds hand were about 1/8th (at Mt Rushmore only 1 of 4 high rise parking garages was open and it was less than half full) of peak season. Check when the buffalo roundup is going on. We missed that by a day. Of things not on your list I thought Fort Laramie NP was closes to the traditional cowboy movie depictions of paradise. Good luck. Take and post lots of pictures.
  11. Only professional funny men will be allowed to drive it. Don't try this at home, this man is a professional.
  12. I replaced the rear springs on the Seven when I got around to measuring the ride height. I was very surprised to see a 1.75" difference between the largest and smallest readings. I now have about 4.5" of ground clearance measured at the bottom of the frame.
  13. Welcome aboard. There are many car/Lotus/Se7en people and events in the DC area.
  14. Amazing! Who would have thought?
  15. Welcome. There is a big group of Lotus & Se7en enthusiasts in the DC area. The DC Lotus Ltd bunch is active.
  16. I thought that Crane went out of business earlier this year
  17. Big motor mounts

There is more LOG 30 event information posted http://www.lotuscarclub.org/log30events.php Note that there will be a formal concourse as well as the people's choice show. This should bring out some additional very nice cars. Expect more announcements concerning: events, featured speakers, technical sessions and historic cars to be displayed as time grows closer. Would your company benefit from being a sponsor of this event? Consider the benefits of getting your message to to the assembled throng. This information is also online. The entry forms are also posted on the site.
  19. Call one of the Lotus specialists. Dave Bean, RD Enterprises, JAE, Sports Car World and they can tell you what are the best current options.
  20. Virginia is for Lotus! MEET-UP Calling all Virginia Lotus Owners!!! I know there are a good handful of Lotus Owners near the Richmond area! After a few discussions with several members, it only makes sense to invite all of you to a gathering! Before we set an actual Date, I'd like to know who is interested in coming and what they'd like to do. I don't have much on the agenda, but what is planned out so far can fill an entire day! !!Lotus BBQ Run!! (family welcome, but don't forget to bring the Lotus!) Date: TBD(End of May/Beginning of June) Time: 1:00pm - 8:00pm Location: White Oaks Luxury Apartments - Chester, VA 1:00pm - Meet at White Oaks Luxury Apartment (Meet & Greet) 2:00pm - Drive around (both commercial roads and crazy back roads!) 3:00pm - Back to White Oaks for BBQ and Pool Party 8:00pm - Wrap Up Event and Drive Home Safely! http://www.lotustalk.com/forums/f113/virginia-lotus-meet-up-87208/ I think we will be going. If so we will probably attend a bit of the Williamsburg British Car Club drive first. http://www.wmbgbrit.com/index.html
  21. I did buy one many years ago to use on my Elan but decided the purchased version was too heavy. Can you imagine it is made of steel? http://www.teammiata.com/mall/TM305.aspx http://www.miata.net/garage/swingplate.html
  22. There is a cool Miata mechanism that holds front plate vertical when stopped but air pressure while driving causes to pivot horizontal. There is a big Lotus & Se7en presence around DC. Someone should be able to make a recommendation on shops.
  23. Thanks, I may give it a try.

We will be there and will sign up for all the offered meals. The food is pretty good at the hotel. You are correct. The Friday reception is included with the basic registration. We will be arriving on Thursday so we can tour the area. The big questions for me is the track day, should I or shouldn't I.

    Which car ?

Daytona Coupe would probably net the biggest ROI & restoration cost would be sub $200,000 VW bug the cheapest restoration Muria might be a good candidate You can find Porsche 911, 928 RR for under $10K in running condition. On Saturday a mechanic friend told me about a $3K brake job on an MG midget. Restoration is expensive. How do I know? Another $1K bill for the Seven arrived in the mail today.
