Part 2 - rear suspension http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/seats/CSR/DSC00623_edited-1.jpg A gratuitous motor pic http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/seats/CSR/DSC00625_edited-1.jpg And an interior - long way to go here http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/seats/CSR/DSC00622_edited-1.jpg Bring on spring - I have had enough of snow, ice storms, freezing cold weather

Here are some photos of my part way built CSR Superlight. I am fascinated by the differences in the suspension to my current SV - really neat evolution of the design. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/seats/CSR/DSC00618_edited-1.jpg http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/seats/CSR/DSC00619_edited-1.jpg http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/seats/CSR/DSC00620_edited-1.jpg http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/seats/CSR/DSC00621_edited-1.jpg

Nice find! That is my idea of a good Sunday afternoon drive! However, I was not as impressed with the amount of time spent on the wrong side of the road or straddling the center line sometimes on limited visibility corners.

I dont think this has been posted before but I stumbled over this with the morning coffee and thought it looked good: YouTube - Lotus Exige S vs. Caterham CSR Super 7 Test

:ack: This brings back some bad memories of doing something similar in a rental Toyota Starlet in New Zealand many years ago when youth and inexperience outweighed common sense. Fortunately I did not have a heckling crowd laughing at me as they were in the last crash clip. I thought the crash at 3.07 had the perfect solution for getting another Volvo 240 off the road.

That is very funny! If it is any consolation I have never come across a parkling lot pro before. Obviously Tom and John are far more worldly!

Will Boxologist be back on the road by June in "Snake Bought it" so that he can participate?

My fire extinguisher is mounted on the floor in front of the passenger seat. Quicker to access there instead of hiding it in the boot. My boot contains: - assorted screwdrivers - allen keys - metric and imperial - pliers - regular and electrical wirestripper variety - multigrips - adjustable spanner - velcro - fuses - inflatable tire foam/puncture repair - WD40 - cable ties - electrical tape - silicone tape (great for cooling leaks) - duct tape - quart of oil - jack and wheel brace - mag lite - small socket set - assorted electrical wire - multimeter - tire pressure gauge - a set of "ocky straps" (not sure what you call them in the USA - bungee cords?) All of this fits in a small tool bag I got at Home Depot and does not take up much room. For a while I was also carrying a bottle of coolant for when I would have hoses pop off although that has stopped thank goodness. This kit has solved most road going issues for me. Some good ideas also from Angus&Tessa's website at: http://www.mycaterham.com/36715/index.html

Personally, I fancy ménage a trois in October.

Oh? Do tell more....

Here are the trackside villas that I think you rented Tom? Looks quite fancy for us bunch... http://www.njmotorsportspark.com/vip.html There is a big list of accom alternatives: http://www.njmotorsportspark.com/accommodations.html Should be something reasonable there. Milville has probably got the only food options around - breakfast and dinner. I suspect the food concessions are not open on the day. When do we need to take a deep breath, grab a hold of something and commit for this?

To be used in a Seven????
-
We shoehorned John into my SV without much hassle. Face was above the windscreen....minor detail. I think he did brown the underwear a little when I launched over the grassy hill at LEO (after I had walked it to check it out too!). I only go cross country on smooth grass....did not even tickle the sump guard at LEO. I can handle the 2 spin rule - survived Silverstone without an issue in a Seven. However, as for Boxologist..... :svengo:
-
ooohhhh!!! a challenge! I doubt it is cohones that is the problem. The bigger issue is people channel their inner woman and get lost, or distracted, or just are worried about messing up their hair (e.g. miata drivers). Did I miss offending anyone? Is this the same John that I terrorized as a passenger at LEO travelling from Boyd's Bare Wear House to the Einsenhower Motel? Excellent news! He may not have a Seven but he has the spirit!

LOL  OK - I will bite - if I buy the first round then you buy the second? Now how many people did I just sign you and I up for buying beers?

JVbtte (Jack) and JLBtrans (Jen) are one and the same - lovely couple! However, I doubt Jack will get the time off work. Maybe open it up to Atwell's Lotus Enthusiasts Org group?
-
Nah! Stiggy is a Westy man through and through!
-
It also appears in the for sale pages about a year later at another PA dealer. I think it is the same car you saw with a yellow nose cone. Spec is otherwise identical. Its the only Westfield I have heard of in the MidAtlantic region and to have another blue one pop up is too much of a coincidence. Given it is a crossflow then that floor underneath it at the dealers looks suspiciously clean!

I soooo wish that were true. Unfortunately for reconstructs, salvage and kit cars (which are usually on those titles) then they still need the "safety" inspection from what I can work out from chatting with the NJ DMV recently. The safety inspection is the killer and is completely separate from the usual 2 year biannual roadworthiness for normal title cars. As far as I know I am the last sevener person to make it through that ordeal of an inspection and prior to me was our Al, our club prez and he was 2006 which were the old "easier" rules Now if you can get a title that is not a reconstruct or salvage or otherwise kit car (e.g. regular Lotus or historic title) then you bypass the issue. Also there is a whole world of pain around emissions testing. In theory you can get a waiver from OBDII testing to use a tail pipe sensor but it depends on the time of the month, moon phase, number of spanners in the trunk of your car, whether the inspector got laid last night and so on. Its not impossible but its not a decision to rush into.
-
That is great news for the S1's!!! :hurray:
-
Don't rush into this. NJ is probably the hardest state of all to get a seven registered. Getting a title is not the issue. The real issue is getting it through the specialty inspection process. I bet you cannot just plug in OBDII and get a nice reading without error codes faulting. I have written pages on this topic over the last 2 years - I will PM my contact details and I can email some relevant docs to you to read and think through how you should plan to get through this process. BTW - Is it the blue Westfield that you are looking at? I think SteveS1 looked at that at one point - may want to compare notes.
-
Pretty close actually. Length with spare - 11'10" add an extra inch for the ezpass box/number plate which mounts forward of the nose on my SV. Height - 45" 11/16ths (I have the standard roll bar which is lower than the FIA bar. Might be worthwhile checking for that. Front width - 66" Rear width - 68" The rear wings stick out an extra inch over the tire on the rear. The mirror does not stick out past the exhaust let alone coming close to the extremity of the front and rear wings.

 I love it! I figure I can be cocky and confident as I plan to check thoroughly beforehand whether I turn left or right when I leave the pit lane. That should give me 2-3 mins head start no matter how bad the rest of my driving is. Anyway, I know I am not another ayrton senna behind the wheel. In my only major international quality touring car race I entered I came last (ok there were a few electrical problems with the car as well - piston went through alternator) and my times were not inspiring when the car was running ok for a few laps. But I will get out there and be prepared to take my beating from a Rover....if it lasts the 20 min session. :jester: All humor aside, I think we need to meet the night before for a few beers and a meal and lots of laughter. Saves the early wake up and drive down there. Steve - Seven drive or no drive you will always be welcome to turn up. Want to bring your daily driver?

Brilliant!
