Nice to see I got outbid by a forum member (I fell asleep or it might have gone higher) Bill S.

Not $5,000, but $2,500-$3,500 depending on who disassembles for paint. Bill S.
-
Paul, Do you want interior and exterior of the parts painted? If so, that will add to your costs. Typical, one color, base clear, exterior only (car was brought in as a whole), the last one I did was $1,500. If we had to disassemble, add another $400-$600 depending on the age of what we are working with. Bill S.

my quest to bring the miata-lite back to life
mrmustang replied to RGTorque's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Ken just did a custom tune on a friends supercharged Miata. His contact information is as follows: Oracle Tuning 363 Oneida Drive Sinking Spring, PA 19608 Cell: 484-577-1977 ken@oracletuning.net If you are headed down that way, let me know as I am not that far away (about 1/2 hour) and would love to see your car up close and in person. Bill S. -
Croc, I bought the very first car list on Ebay, long before there was ever an Ebaymotors (when it was ebay.com/other), a 1976 MGB convertible out of Hanford, California (date: Oct-22-98), then sold the next 8 listed on Ebay (7 mustangs, 1 TR6) before anyone else ever listed another vehicle of any kind.....To say I've been around that arena/venue for a long time, and seen all sorts of patterns, is an understatement  Bill S.
-
Jimmy, no offense to you or the seller, yet when a better car was on Ebay, with more options and better build details and it gets bid t0 23K while this car, with 9 crappy pictures and a four line description gets bid to 28K (with a buy it now of 28.5K) not one, not twice, but four times in a row last year, something fishy is going on. :nopity: Some of us track these cars more than others, the patterns of deception are indeed there given the track record of the auctions vs other like and kind automobiles. I will not go in to the assorted details as I do not want to educate the unscrupulous sellers as to what their "tells" are. Bill S. PS: I track Shelbys, Cobra replicas, certain vintage Mustangs, 7s, TR6's and a host of other vehicles that the top goes down on. Have been since 1998.

Do you really think he is shill bidding his car time and time again :smilielol5:

What's better than a se7en in the driveway?
mrmustang replied to Kitcat's topic in General Sevens Discussion
I had heard asking New Zealanders to line their cars up for a group shot was like herding cats, now we have proof  Bill S. -
At 5'11" and 190lbs, I do not think I qualify for the "Wide Body" :jester:
-
So I shouldn't ask which is better Birkin or Caterham:smilielol5: Again I do appreciate the feedback and guidance. Sincerely, Bill S.
-
Mike, Appreciate the response, this is the type of feedback I am looking for. Not going to track it (having recently sold off my SCCA ITE car, and retired my 289FIA ERA Cobra replica from the track due to a lack of free time and spare funds). My last 7 replica (circa 1999) had a pretty standard kent motor backed up by a 4spd and dion rear end (see attached with my friend and fellow racer JM hamming it up), I did not own it long, maybe put 600 miles on it before headed back to ITE.....So road course wise, maybe 5-10% of the time, autocross 0% (just not my thing any more), the rest road use.......Keep the feedback coming (you can PM me the details on the Birkin :cooldude:) as any useful information always appreciated.... Sincerely, Bill S.
-
No, I'm not starting this thread as a pissing contest, what I'm searching for is perhaps someone who has had both an older style powerplant (Say a Kent motor) and either upgraded the motor to a newer Zetec or Duratec, or perhaps sold their old car and bought one with the newer powerplant already installed. Again, I keep looking at Caterhams and Birkins that are 1,000 miles away from my current location, hate to buy without seeing and at least being taken for a drive..........Not quite crunch time for me, but better to get some perspective now, then later. Thanks in advance, Sincerely, Bill S.

Do we see a bidding pattern

Car Transporter Recommendations
mrmustang replied to Nick OTeen's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Depends on the car you want shipped, if it is a car not worth a lot, then DAS is the shipper for you. If the car is a specialty item then I suggest one of the following three (call them and speak to them live) Horseless Carriage Reliable Auto Shippers Passport Auto Transport I've used all of the above over the years without any issues. Bill S. -
Shame you do not have a 4X100 bolt pattern as I have a heck of a deal on a set of 16x8 Enkie RPF1's with Toyo R1's on them. Bill S.

Question on importing a car from Canada to US
mrmustang replied to Sabbot's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Asbury Park did approved the 3rd car a month later.......Oh yeah, I did nothing to change it's build, just made another appointment and brought it back for a reinspection. Yes, pictures of what was purchased by the OP should be required  -
Question on importing a car from Canada to US
mrmustang replied to Sabbot's topic in General Sevens Discussion
You would not be saying that if you have dealt with the manager at Asbury Park who seems to rewrite the rule book as it suits him on that particular day :banghead: At least Morristown plays by the rules as written by Trenton. 2 identical cars through Morristown, no problem. Next car rejected through Asbury Park. All 3 were built identical (100% identical) for a movie filmed in Newark and Staten Island (not yet released) Bill S. -
Question on importing a car from Canada to US
mrmustang replied to Sabbot's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Thankfully you are headed in the right direction (Canada does not allow the importation of finished or unfinished kit cars unless they are documented as being 15+ years old (not just titled as such). Easiest way is to call the special titles division (State Street, Trenton) and ask for their "kit car packet", within you will find all of the items that you need to address in order to get the car to pass the "enhanced inspection" (currently being done in Asbury Park only as the Morristown specialty station got 12 feet of water during Hurricane Irene last year and has not been opened since). Since you are importing a "kit car", I suggest you make plans to meet the tri-state Cobra group at the Chester Hills Diner, RT206N in Chester, NJ at 9am Sunday February 12th (our next monthly breakfast), you'll find some of us quite helpful in regards to dealing with the NJ DMV Bill S. PS: My brother lives in Warren, NJ -
I'm the SAAC AdMaster over on saacforum.com if you want send me all the details and I'll post it up for the seller. I also suggest clubcobra.com as well as cobracountry Bill S.

What chassis number is his Kirkham? Bill S.

Living just 4 miles (as the crow flies) from the proposed LBM track, I can see some elevation changes, but nothing like WGI or LRP, at least not unless they are planning to move around an awful lot of acreage. However, it will be far more than NJMP. Bill S.

Alpine has been an on going project for over 10 years, investor issues caused it to lay dormant, local (town) issues where also an issue. Will be interesting to see if they actually break ground this time (this is the third email in 5 years I've received). The other interesting "soon to be built track" is Libertybell Motorsport Park, http://libertybellmp.com/ While their web site is not as slick as Alpine, they have all approvals and financing in place and are truly set to break ground this spring.
