The Regular Summary of Classified Ads of Se7ens Found For Sale

Croc

Recommended Posts

Thank you all for sharing your opinions, but Bruce is free to share his own under the terms of a forum. There is nothing to correct. Negative attempts drive discussion toward the politics of policing alternative points of view (a form of fascism). It then comes down to debate skills and ultimately nobody walks away happy or better educated.

For example, don't mention steak either as some members may be semi-vegan on Tuesdays? Just about almost triggered? HA!

I'm a moderator in an Audio forum, and the owners there have a basic policy of No Political Talk ...

This is a car forum with specific focus, so bringing up a political candidate or issue is as much off topic here

as it is in the other forum I'm involved in.

Let's just agree to keep ALL politics Out of Here - and keep it friendly with talk of Lotus and USA7s ...

And never mention that guy again in this forum, ok??

You are the Donald Trump of the Seven community

That is a definite insult.  Having had a past interaction with that individual 20 years ago, I could say many things.

Much nicer.  Maybe...ok...I'm definitely not as virtuous but I like and respect this guy.

Ok...I see Bruce is running for cover now.

He's not free to insult me (or anyone else for that matter).  That's not in the rules of this forum.  There is a political section if people want to debate politics.  That is not this section and its definitely not this thread.  Back to discussing the se7ens.

I had a doctor suggest just last week I would be healthier if I became a vegan.  I said I would prefer herpes instead of being a social outcast.

Apologies for the continued topic drift.

I used to ride my bicycle ridiculously long distances, i.e. ultramarathon-type stuff, except it was called randonneur riding in my case. One of the challenges encountered in such an endeavor is getting enough calories in to replace the ones going out. It's a great way to discover what food works, and what food doesn't work, at a very personal, individual level. One of the things I learned is that I require proteins, plenty of them. Moral of the story: I'm an unapologetic carnivore. (Hope that passes political muster!)

Thanks for the free speech support, MV8.  Croc, how could I possibly insult you with remarks which, in my mind, pose a clearly favorable comparison to a historic figure?  I clearly intended my statements as compliments.  I did not intend to inject politics - only to compare you with another significant leader.  I could understand a request from you to compare you to someone else, which I clearly understand and accept, but all this stuff about being insulted - you have to bake my remarks cherry red and beat them with a hammer to shape them into insults.  We need free speech to be truly free, not contorted into attacks.

1) Free speech doesn't mean what you think it means. There is no Government involved here.

2) To me you're totally a mix of Saddam Hussein & Earl Brian Bradley and I mean that in the most complementary way possible. I expect you to appreciate this complementary comparison. A "thank you, I'm honored" will do.

3) Time to split this off, see ya'll in the other thread.

This is silly.  Your comparison was clearly intended to be demeaning to me, while I clearly intended to posit a compliment to Croc.  Croc is a very popular figure with the Seven community, and he deserves it, because he is a leader who volunteers a lot of his time to important pursuits within the community.  Those qualities were the basis of my comparison of Croc to Trump, and that was obvious.  For anyone, in response, to compare me to both a mass murderer and a child rapist is not only uncouth, but asymmetrical and unrelated to this issue.

Agree with the goal to keep politics out of this forum, even if it isn't in the TOS per se. We have plenty of other places in life/interwebs to engage in those topics. Let's keep this forum 7 related.

I'm in no mood for this so I will be blunt.  This conversation in this thread stops here.  Period.  You want to further the commentary, then start a dedicated thread in the appropriate forum where people who don't wish to discuss or read about a polarizing political figure, or distortions about free speech, can ignore them.  https://usa7s.net/ips/forum/37-politics-religion-and-controversy/   And to be crystal clear, any further comments here about my post or the ones above will be deleted.  I am not making the effort to move them.  So have a comment?  Follow the directions above.

Reserve not met @ $130K+ for a rolling chassis.

Interesting what the reserve was.

Cool lawn ornament however.

It'd make quite the living room conversation piece for a person with a large home. Add in one of those new Apple headsets and you'd have an impressive sim rig.

I'm not a gamer but don't sim rigs jostle the player around?

For a car enthusiast with means, owning a real life F1 car, running or not is some of the biggest bragging rights one can have.

Operating one however is a magnitude more expensive than having one as an ornament, not to mention even pro drivers struggle with operating an F1 machine.

I’d like to remind people that there is a group in the UK restoring a CT05, chassis #1. They are using a modified Formula Renault engine and gearbox. https://www.caterhamf1.co.uk/

Also there is the TDF/One. Again in the UK this company is taking pre enjoyed F1 rollers that meet their standards and putting a similar drivetrain in them. https://tdf.co.uk/tdfone/

(I’m not sure which one came first or if the two are linked.)

As far as racing sims go $100,000+ will get you a Vesaro. Check out the YouTube videos or their website.

Forgive me for being old, but were you at the the 2022 NJMP where my garage neighbor had an ex-Williams F1 car on track and was attempting to learn to drive it?   I will be charitable and say he was doing a lot better than I could have!   He flew out a crew of Williams Historic Team technicians and all the kit to run the car for the day.  His ultimate goal is to historic race the car - yes there are races in UK/Europe for this.   The cost of that one day was heavy 5 figures in cash.

One place in Redmond WA I use for various car work - they are rebuilding my latest engine blow up - supports something like 25 ex-F1 cars for track days from 1950s to present.  The team and gear needed to put the modern cars out on track is eye watering.  Yet for the Maserati 250F they just stick it in the back of a simple trailer, throw some tools, extra plugs, oil, etc and some extra tires and off they go.  One guy to support the owner who is driving the 250F.  The simplicity of that matches what we do ourselves for a seven track day.

Even my 1974 BMW CSL is beyond me easily running it at a track day - it needs a support team.  That was the era things started to get complicated in top tier racing in UK/Europe.  The rest of the world followed in the 1980s
