Check mailed, transport arranged.  Will post up in member rides when i actually get to see the car I bought!  Way to excited for this.

Congrats!  You made an excellent purchase.  You bought into an excellent marque and saved a lot of cash.  You are poised to experience a pinnacle motoring experience for years to come!  And, if you ever want to drop the hammer on upgrades, your new car will handle upwards of 300 hp.  You are in an ideal position.  For added protection, consider an FIA roll bar first.  They are stronger and give you a few added inches of head and neck protection.

Y'all said the Superformance S-1 in DC had been listed in Hemmings before, and after a pause, was listed again. #4 of 56.

https://www.hemmings.com/listing/1969-superformance-s1-roadster-638198

I did some research and it had been sold in Florida maybe 18 months back, and then came to DC.

Looks like its been sold

That was a steal if that car was in great shape. I have owned 4 Locosts,2 Stalkers (including an LS powered XL)and an S1 and the SuperFormance was  better than most and not far behind the best of them. It was far more comfortable than most of them too. Btw,I had mine weighed and it came in at 1390lbs. not really that heavy.. Just my 2 cents...

Week Beginning August 20, 2023

Craigslist is now blocking USA-wide searches via third party search websites and where a VPN is in use.  I will no longer be including Craigslist ads within this car for sale summary.  Think twice before electing to use Craigslist to sell your items.

Wow. It just can't stop killing itself. It survived against all odds with a $5 website into 20'teens and then started charging for car ads which was beginning of end.

Facebook is the current leader for sales of misc stuff.

It started by blocking me on the Edge and Firefox browsers but I am now blocked on Safari - irrespective of VPN or not.  One way to turn customers away. Clearing cookies makes no difference.    I can see there are cars for sale but I cannot click into them without being blocked.  Ridiculous.

That's just stupid and ridiculous on their part. Horrible blocking you like that. I thought they were trying to sell stuff!

Craigslist contributed a great deal to putting newspapers out of business by killing classified ad sales.  Now they're doing it to themselves.

Seems I may have bought one of the last Craigslist cars found through this forum.

Any chance of sneaking in through, say, Autotempest? I just tried their search tool and it is still showing craigslist entries.

I am blocked with both Autotempest and Searchtempest.   I am also blocked if I access Craigslist directly.

I just tried autotempest.  It works for me.  Trouble is it does not say if there is an ad in a particular area.  You have to go to each individual area yourself just to be told "no listings available".  Found one that is already posted here so it does work.  It's just not that easy to use.

I think it blocks me via IP address.  Obviously I am scanning their entire database of car ads to extract the relevant ones so look like a spambot harvesting data.  I doubt you would be seen as the same threat looking at a local city site and browsing.

I always knew you were a spambot! 😉

Just sad not to be able to continue a big portion of the amazing work you do.  You were instrumental in me finally finding and pulling the trigger on a car.  And I'll still be looking at your ad posting every week as I get the feeling 7s are a bit of an addiction.

Maybe they blocked you because you are reposting.  Someone browsed this site or tracked the site visited next?  Certainly enough to make one paranoid.

But isn't that the whole idea, I mean to drive more viewers to their adds. I'd think they'd be happy about it. It's not like Croc or this site is making money off of just sharing a URL.

Well, but they are trying to run themselves out of business.  Best example I've seen was a big book store used the space just inside the door with 2 tables and sales people pushing various reading electronic tablets.  That book store is now out of business.  Maybe some executives deserve bigger bonuses.

I have found that SearchTempest can still be run as a US wide search in a guest window (chrome or any browser than is running on chromium) but that even if you open each group of results one-by-one instead of clicking the Open All button, Craigslist starts blocking your search about a third of the way across the country.  A new guest window allows a new third of the country but it is a royal pain and I'm not advocating for that as an approach.

I used to be able to run a SearchTempest search 4-5 times before getting essentially rate limited by the "Your request has been blocked" page, I suspect Craigslist has chosen to reduce their permitted range which is too bad.

Thats what I spent time experimenting yesterday before giving up.  Guest page approach or even stealth page approach using some other more specialist browsers would just stop after 2 locations then blocked the rest of the country.

Not sure what they expect people to do.  Certainly it seems to limit their business model further as their regions are somewhat arbitrary when looked at on a map.

And no there is no money in this for me or USA7s - just a recognition this is a small community of enthusiasts that needs to look out for itself.

They may be updating their systems, and have a coding glitch, I'd give it a week or two and try your approaches again, unless you got a specific message like "we see you are using "xxxx" and have blocked your usage" or something along those lines. I've had this occur in the past (Seamonkey, Edge, Firefox, Safari), and eventually they work themselves out, some take days, some weeks, some even months before their next update fixes the issues on the backend.

Just saying
