1999 Westfield at a dealer so the hyperbole is laid on super thick in this advertisement....

1967 Lotus Super 7 Series 3. This is a Westfield 1 kit which was built in 1999 and has a clean Illinois title as a 1999 special construction. The beating heart of this track killer is a 1700cc Inline 4 cylinder Formula Ford engine built to Super Sprint specs by Andreson. The 1700 features dual side draft Weber carburetors and a free flowing exhaust which allows for 160 HP. The power to weight ratio is incredible when you consider this one is 900 pounds wet without a driver.

track killer?!

Can a Westfield ever be 900 pounds dry? And this one has clams on it!

How streetable is a 160hp crossflow? :ack:

This vehicle really is like a street legal go cart and is an absolute terror on a race track

Never trust a Westfield driver! :iagree: I find red ones particularly bad but yellow ones must also be the same?

Then again, let xcarguy loose in a mobility scooter on track and he would be a terror too!

Backing the 1700 is a Quaif 5 speed manual close ratio gearbox which has short throws and is very precise. Other track oriented goodies include: dry sump oil system oil cooler and thermostat 8 gallon custom fuel tank with foam baffling 4 wheel disk brakes with adjustable brake bias aluminum radiator with electric fan and 5 point safety harness. If you wanted something you could hop in on a Saturday morning drive to your local track day or autocross event and then drive home this is the one.

Also don't under estimate 100 mile detour to Home Depot excursion on a Saturday morning - works for me!

You'll be putting 911s MX-5s and STIs to shame in this street legal race car.

Even before I start the engine, I would be ashamed to drive any of those cars and would always want the Westfield!

Don't you have to see a doctor if you catch an STI?

The car is finished in a classic coat of yellow which really fits the Lotus body.

Of course it effing does...its effing gel coat! LOL

The dash interior panels mirrors and other bits are carbon fiber. The seats are upholstered in green to complete the Lotus color scheme and are a comfortable yet snug place to sit. There are side curtains and a convertible top which can be used when you're caught in a drizzle but this car is best enjoyed topless.

Did someone say topless?

Its great on the track but will also catch plenty of looks darting in and out of traffic around town.

Hello Officer....

The car has just over 4500 miles since being built and is ready for a new enthusiast to take ownership. Located in our St. Louis

http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/lotus/super-seven/1763637.html

Asking $36995 :svengo:in St Louis.

All jokes aside - it is an exceptionally well detailed build. There are places where I struggled to recognize it as a Westfield and had to look again to make sure. It looks like it has some Caterham parts mounted on it? Are they called "upgrades"? ;-p I can sort of see why the asking is so high as it is a very nice build with expensive bits on it but.....as we all know....you don't always get your money back from expensive car builds...

Croc:

You commentary on the Westfield ad, above, was pretty hilarious. Keep up the good work!

And how about the photos of the R400 in the post above the Westfield comments. Best I have ever seen in any car for-sale ad. So many times the car is pulled out and photographed in front of the garbage cans, one of which has fallen over, etc.

Go ahead.....pick on me while I'm neck-deep into my new job with barely enough free time to catch up on reading posts....never mind having time for posting and defending myself. Okay, going out for a scooter ride.:leaving:

If truly titled and registered in RI I believe this to be almost as rare as one in NJ...

Given its CO origins, its easy to register a Caterham in RI as a 1968 Lotus Seven..... :leaving:

That Westfield is a later, fiberglass-bodied pre-lit. The factory switched over to the post-lit body ~1988, so if the 1999 build date claim is correct, it sat around for some time before completion. And with only 4500 miles on odometer, it apparently did a lot of sitting afterwards.

Where's Croc and coffee? Where's my morning read? Just because I'm busy with a new job and a relocation doesn't mean I don't like to read, dream, ponder and do a little cyber tire kicking. :toetap05:

Now Croc, let's be charitable.

Overpriced crappy clone chassis back for what seems like the third year

http://huntsville.craigslist.org/cto/5142851802.html

They think the word "museum" is worth an extra zero. I recall, originally, the "museum" had it donated and did not want it. Take off the zero and just under $500 would look OK.

One supposes the purple Storker must be sold by now!

Anyone need an SV? 1 day to run on this auction. Interestingly this is a Duratec despite being a 2003 chassis. The photos are not really clear but there maybe an exhaust patch from an earlier Zetec on the sideskin? Nice looking color scheme. Bidding at $26k and reserve not met. My guess he wants well into the $30s area. Anyone from CA know the car?

2003 Caterham 7 SV

This car is faster than a Ferrari and turns more heads.

It was a no-expenses-spared build by the original owner. It's been well cared for, most recently by Eric at suspensionperformance (dot) com. He's a really top-notch mechanic, retired motorcycle racer, just doing it for the love of cars.

It is CA registered, smog exempt for life, under the SPCNS permit. There are only 500 of these issued per year, so they're very hard to get.

Dyno'ed 208 horsepower

Highly tuned Ford Duratec

Ford T5 transmission (5 speed, close ratio)

Limited Slip Differential

0 to 60 in the low 3s

Dry sump

Fresh tires

Fresh oil

Caterham SV, plenty of space for driver and passenger up to 6'6"

Fully loaded with the soft top and cold weather package

Four point harnesses

Removable Momo steering wheel

A Locost in a nice color in Long Island NY. Been on this thread once before a 1-2 years back based on my memory. Asking $11500

This is a custom built Lotus Seven inspired roadster. It is powered by a reliable and powerful 2.4 liter Toyota engine backed by a automatic (yes) Toyota tundra transmission and rear end. The roll cage was built by Vermont Sports car professional rally car builders. Car does not have a title or registration. It was used as a track toy, but has everything needed to make it street legal.
