  1. "This is NOT a Replica... early Lotus Series 1 Seven with 1098cc BMC A engine , all synchro ribcage" Sooooo what is an "all synchro ribcage"?
  2. The aluminum fab work looks great, did you use the original skin for patterns?
  3. Check a local craft store or a fabric store.
  4. The oil in the gearbox shouldn't need changing in the same way as engine oil. It isn't dealing with combustion products like the oil in the engine. As long as the tranny isn't getting any crap coming in, it shouldn't need to be changed to remove the dirty fluid.
  5. As long as you use those skinny tires :smilielol5:
  6. http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=15910&stc=1A funny thing happened on the way to the car show. The water temp gauge went to 100c. I was in more traffic than I normally drive in. It wasn't That hot yet,I switched on the heater and the temp dropped to 80c. When I was leaving I noticed the temp gauge stayed stone cold, hmmmm. After removing the bonnet I noticed the alt belt was frayed and long fibers were hanging off and the wire to the temp sensor was damaged and disconnected. After repair I'll find out if it's back to normal. Also, the driver added lightness.

  8. I'm puzzled. I've got a Kent motor but it's listed as a 1.6L and was available in Pinto. What did a 2.3L Kent motor come out of?
  9. I was shocked when I saw a report. She was a true motorsports adventurer and will be missed.
  10. Coming up Sept. 7 https://www.atlantabritishcarfayre.com/home-1.html Sign up or drop by

  12. Hey Skip thanks for the tale.
  13. With that question answered, I'll ask this. How does one get in and out of a car with a roll structure like that????
  14. Lane Motor Museum is in Nashville and they have two or three Caterhams in their collection. Give them a call for some local knowledge. As to crawling under cars, a lift sure helps...
  15. The Best Caterham? One you can get your butt in and got for a blat! :auto:
  16. As to the HP question, I find lower HP cars more fun. You can get all the fun motor sounds without approaching the speed of light and less chance of wetting yourself in the process. I'm sure the Stalker crowd are rolling their eyes....:svengo:
  17. http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=15506&stc=1 I have a 1995 and this is from the assembly manual. Toe is the only adjustment available.
  18. I made an recon trip to http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=15381&stc=1in my Miata to see what it was like and what I need to take into account to do it in my 7. It took 3.5 hours to get there. It was last Friday and I got there half past noon. There was lots of activity but not completely jammed up. On my run going north I had a clear path, but on the return I found some slow ones. I used the pull-offs to wait but caught them again. After the third pull-off a highspeed train came thru ( 3 bikes followed 6 quick moving sporty cars) and I followed them. The slow moving Tesla Series 3 used a pull-off to let the train blow thru. http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=15382&stc=1 I got caught in some rain on my return trip. I think the car may have shrunk some.
  19. I ordered Dunlop DIREZZA ZIII Monday afternoon and I did a check-out blat this afternoon. It turns out Tire Rack has a warehouse in the Atlanta area. The tires were at the installer the next day. I pondered Toyo R888Rs but I'm guessing that would be over the top for public roads. So far, the tires are night and day different from 8 year old all season tires. :driving:
  20. I logged in to ask a tire question and this post is sort of an answer... So, is Tire Rack a good place to source tires and how are they to deal with? (no hijacking intended)
  21. On the CARTALK web site there is a section called the Mechanics Files. Take a look. https://www.cartalk.com/mechanics-files Some of the information may be out of date, so further investigation is suggested. Good Luck
  22. I'm quite sure the 7 can out run the truck....
  23. I've never had the hood on my 7 and removed the wipers, so when it rains I drive something mundane. If you want to be one with the pavement add six to get seven.
  24. I assembled my Lego 7 last year. It's only for daytime use. It doesn't have functional lights. Must be Lucas....
