  1. Of course these cars leak, but it's time for a water pump. What should I list the car as when looking for a stock pump, 1971 Pinto 1600? No racing or track days, street only. Thanks y'all
  2. I forgot to ask, does the headlight switch light up when the lights are on. Mine does not. Is there a US source for a replacement switch that does light up?
  3. Boy was I wrong. :iamwithstupid: The brake lights work fine with the ignition ON, ignition off, no. The light I observed as on was the tail light. I discovered the light switch was in the middle position, ie "running lights". The reason for the single light being on is yet to be determined. The bulb and socket are fine, so some where further up stream the voltage gets lost.
  4. If the headlights are rotated to have the flat sides facing each other, would that make enough clearance? Only for service, reposition before flight.
  5. Thanks for the feedback. I'll get to looking and checking after Irma gets out of town. :willy_nilly:
  6. When I got back from https://www.atlantabritishcarfayre.com/ I noticed one of the brake lights was on. This tells me I have at least two problems to solve. 1) Why is the light on 2) Why only one I've got the factory wiring diagram to look at and a Simpson meter to probe with. As to the bulb that wasn't lit, by visual inspection it looks good. The next place I will be looking is the wiring just inside the rear wing, it was damaged and I wrapped some tape around that area. Any suggestions on testing the pressure switch and is it in direct contact with brake fluid? Thanks y'all Carl
  7. I would agree with making sure all the electrical connections are clean and tight. Also see if the Bendix moves freely. It could be gunked up. A shot of WD-40 may help.
  8. Owning and driving a 7 is a blast, but I still drool when I see an 11.
  9. I think there are some turn signal/head lamp and turn signal/brake lamp assemblies from major manufactures that wouldn't pass the test. These combinations blur the functions, especially turn signals.
  10. It's coming up quickly. The Atlanta British Car Fayre (in downtown Norcross) Sept 9th https://www.atlantabritishcarfayre.com/registration.html
  11. If there is enough clearance, you could wrap the steering shaft with the same material to reduce the heat input to the shaft. The shaft may have transferred heat to the internals of the rack causing bearing clearance issues.
  12. You just can't have too many 7's
  13. I have SUMITOMO in that size on my '95 Caterham. The previous owner put them on. They are good for fair weather driving, no plans to test the M&S rating.

  20. When I was looking for a 7, someone asked me this question. "What do you like more, building or driving?" So I bought a previously built/owned 7.
  21. When I read the grounding the starter, I'm thinking that's a bunch of current to put thru a switch. Ground interrupt on the relay, yeah that the trick!
  22. You would think the new producers of Velocity would understand cars and car guys. I guess they will have more jabbering and less wrenching. Thanks for the post and good luck to Edd.
