  1. The Dip was filled in to make 10A & B. They raised the track be 18ft or more. I think it was around 1998. It was a straight line (more or less) from Turn 9 to the Bridge. GTP's were hitting 195mph before braking going up the hill. There have been some wild and ugly incidents there. Bob Wollek had an "off" at 11 in a 962 that was wild, and a Formula Atlantic touched wheels and went airborne under the bridge... ugly. If you didn't have your braking done before the bridge, you were in trouble. The track drops fast and your suspension unloads and it's OH S#!T The new 10A & B make good viewing at the Petit, terraced seating and a big screen to boot! And for the drivers, a big gravel trap.
  2. 7evin, Did you ever get to drive Road A before the DIP was removed? That made 11 very exciting. I was a corner worker there for 20 years and I saw many ways how not to take 11.
  3. The video above was done just after the 2102 Petit, it has the accent paint on the roll structure and mirrors. At 2013 Sebring, the body had a chrome finish.
  4. The Delta Wing's shape is not easy to see. As the race weekend progressed the mirrors and roll structure became Federal Safety Red to increase visibility. What was the Porsche driver thinking? That car was involved in other incidents over the weekend.
  5. The Delta Wing project has had a rough time. The car DNF at Sebring this year due to a fire early in the race.
  6. Was the vibration associated with road speed or engine speed?
  7. I should have posted this SOONER, oops. The should be a bunch of cars. There has been a Westfield there and I will have my Cateraham there also. http://www.atlantabritishcarfayre.com/
  8. The Making of the Lawn Chair in Stop-motion animation. This is fun to watch! http://www.finewoodworking.com/item/108638/the-ghostly-woodworker?utm_source=email&utm_medium=eletter&utm_content=fw_eletter&utm_campaign=fine-woodworking-eletter
  9. The 3 liter era had some great sounds. I worked the 1982 Canadian GP the cars sounded great!
  10. Tube steel has a nominal diameter of 1.50 in (for example) but there are tolerances to the dimensions. The material can be undersize and still be considered the stated size. Thin shim stock could be used to make up the gap. A little trial and error is involved.
  11. So, which one is a quart low?
  12. Voltage regulator problem? Any way to check for voltage spikes?
  13. Andy, Your adventure sounds interesting. Keep us posted on your travels. Carl
  14. Excessive heat looks to be an element. How is the cooling systems condition?

    Too Soon

Someone punked the TV station. It was a BAD joke.
  16. In my 20 years of SCCA corner working, I saw a few flying objects. The rear body work of a Lola T600 flew off at top speed. It would have cleared a 3 story house and fortunately landed in a service area. A loose wheel destroyed a corner workers cooler @ turn 2, and a motorcycle landed on TOP of the turn 3 corner station.
  17. How long did the last before it broke? (mileage) Lotus didn't make parts to last forever. If lasted 10 or 20k, it may take some time to rack up those kind of miles.
  18. The fact that media person was the unfortunate target of a errant wheel should not be the only reason for banning media from pit lane. That wheel could have hit anyone. There must be more to it than that.
  19. I thought I recognized the name. I saw him at the last Chimney Rock Hill Climb in 1995. He has some crazy machines.
