1. Michael - You might want to ask your question on the mailing list for genuine Lotus Sevens. If you're not a member you can sign up here: http://mailman.se7ens.net/mailman/listinfo/lotus Hope this helps!
2. Beautiful car, I think I read about it in Excellence a few years back. I wanted to have the same look on the Guards red '89 I used to own but sadly had to sell it to help pay for my daughter's wedding a few years back. Damn kids!!
3. Michael - Here's a link to a manufacturer of fuel tanks and panels for Lotus and other vehicles: http://andywiltshire.com/Lotus%207%20Caterham%20Tanks.htm I also have this photo which shows the dimensions of what appears to be the S2 tank from the link above. I can't vouch for the accuracy but it could be of help to you.
4. Caterham updated the chassis and suspension, and moved the handbrake from under the dash to the driveshaft tunnel in 1996. There were probably some other minor updates as well.
5. I have one of the sister trailers to this one and can state that it really is perfect, actually a little overkill, for a Seven. With the 14' bed, electric brakes, and 3500# axle it will easily accommodate larger vehicles than a Seven. (Is there any other kind? ) I've been very happy with mine. Good luck with the sale Jeff.
6. Karl - Sorry to hear about your car, but glad you're ok. Good luck with the rebuild. Gary - Thanks for stopping by and adding your input. Wish I could have made it up to LRP over the weekend....
7. I don't have any direct experience with Motorhead other than buying some parts for my Spridget from them back in the early 80's. They've been in business for a while so that should be a good sign. I would think they would have plenty of experience working on SU's and Strombergs, but Webers could be a different story. I'm assuming you have Webers? If it's just balancing the Webers that's a pretty simple operation, but tuning/changing jets would require a little more experience. Have you contacted them?
8. Thanks guys!

I'm A Granddad

Congrats Terry, being a grandparent is a blast!
10. They're available from Caterham: http://www.caterhamparts.co.uk/product.php?id_product=1362 I always liked your car Brad, good luck with the sale.
11. I inquired with Tom at Manik about some Westfield parts and rec'd a reply on 3/27. Unfortunately, since then I haven't had any responses to my email, voice mail, or phone calls. Has anybody been in touch with him recently?
12. Looks nice!
13. That's a great shot Steve!
14. Jason, sent you a PM.
15. Hi Jason, The Birkin looks great! Here's a thread documenting what I went through when I registered my car back in 2007: http://usa7s.com/vb/showthread.php?t=1395&highlight=bumper&page=2 Some things have changed since 2007 but hopefully you won't have to go through emissions. Here's some info from the CT-DMV: http://www.ct.gov/dmv/cwp/view.asp?a=804&q=244898 See the note at the end of the following paragraph: "Effective August 1, 2008 all composite vehicles (except motorcycles) presented for a composite inspection will be required to be equipped with the following emissions systems based on the year of manufacture of the engine used in construction. Emissions controls must match the year of the engine used in the composite vehicle. Documented proof of engine year must be provided by the applicant. This information will be verified for accuracy and the presence of all required components will be verified during the inspection. Note: This requirement will not apply to vehicles with engines purchased prior to August 1, 2008. Documented proof of engine year and purchase date must still be provided at time of inspection." I'm sure when I bought the car from Pat P. he had a receipt for the purchase of the engine from the junkyard. I think it was an engine from a 2001 Focus with 29k miles if I remember correctly. I should have given you all that paperwork when I sold you the car. Here's a link with composite vehicle inspection requirements: http://www.ct.gov/dmv/LIB/dmv/20/29/R-157.pdf Other people have registered their Sevens without bumpers so I think I just got an inspector that wanted to be a PITA! How are you going to get it to the DMV?
16. Don, To add to Dave's info, here's a link to Lotus and Caterham chassis numbers: http://7faq.com/owbase/ow.asp?ChassisNumbers
17. Looks like a great price on a relatively lightweight 15" x 8" wheel that should work on a Birkin if you wanted to go to a 1" wider wheel: http://www.good-win-racing.com/Mazda-Performance-Part/61-0935.html?mv_source=News1

19. What could possibly go wrong???
20. Also check out his thread in the Member's Rides section: http://usa7s.com/vb/showthread.php?t=1926 I've seen Robert's car in person and it is super clean!
21. Sorry you missed the race but it sounds like you had a lot of fun anyway. The #42 car of JPM is looking a lot different today than it did in your photo!
22. Stewart - I'm not sure where you can get a manifold for a BDA but Caterham did have that application in the 80's (in BDR form) so there should be something available. Not sure if that was a 3-bolt or 4-bolt head. Also, Craig Chima had a Caterham/BDR with a custom exhaust that he sold a while back, you might try reaching out to him: http://usa7s.com/vb/showthread.php?t=6408&highlight=caterham I'm really looking forward to this!!
23. Anthony - I ended up getting my Raceco from the UK. The shipping wasn't cheap (I think it was close to $200) but I was very happy with it's construction and it fit perfectly on my Birkin. I've had it for three years now and I took it apart once to check the packing and it's been perfect. I still use earplugs but it is much quieter than the original Birkin exhaust. I think the closest product available in the US would be from here: http://www.burnsstainless.com/ultra-lightmufflers.aspx You can check out my write-up when I installed it here, post #23: http://usa7s.com/vb/showthread.php?t=2287&page=3&highlight=birkin
24. Looks like Photoshop to me...
