  1. Jackal - Here's some pics of my 2001 Birkin and the way the top frame mounts to the rollbar flange. The first pic is of the passenger side rollbar flange with the trunk cover moved out of the way to show how it mounts to the spaceframe flange with countersunk allen head bolts.
  2. Nice post Stephen, thanks for sharing!
  3. This car has been for sale on Ebay several times and if I remember correctly it gets up to between $19-20k, doesn't meet reserve, and is a no sale. It doesn't look like there's a reserve on it this time so it should be interesting to see how it plays out. Here's the dealers ad for the same car with the asking price of $28,995: [/url]http://www.cosmopolitanmotors.com/seattle/exotic-classic-vintage-cars/item/36-1957-lotus-xi-westfield-replica
  4. Stig - I sent you a PM

  7. What a great story!
  8. Looks great Steve!
  9. It looks like it's closer to a 2002 model than it is a 2012. The fact that it has the Zetec setup sure points to an earlier Birkin than 2012. Let us know if you hear back from the owner.

    Registration

I talked to the owner of a new Duratec-powered Birkin a few weeks ago at Lime Rock who recently registered his car in ME rather than CT because it was easier. I don't have any details on what the difference was between the two states but it obviously can be done. He does not post on USA7's. I believe there is another Birkin owner who lives in ME on the Birkinowners/yahoogroups, so it might be worth posting a question there as well.
  11. Good stuff guys, thanks for sharing!
  12. Robert, I think you're in the right ballpark in today's tough market. It might be a little tougher to sell this time of year but you probably don't want to wait till the springtime. I'm sorry to see you sell but I wish you good luck. It's funny how most people consider an Elise too hardcore and a terrible daily driver, but when a se7en driver is looking for something more comfortable with more room they look for an Elise! I once did 840 miles in a day in a 948cc Bugeye Sprite. :ack: I think I'd prefer 900+ miles in an Elise!:driving:
  13. It's been a long time since my last jump but I can honestly say that was one of the biggest thrills of my life! Everybody should try it at least once. The fact that my first jump was also the first time I had ever been up in a plane made it even more exciting!:willy_nilly:
  14. When I first got my Birkin it came with an aluminum block that mounted between the head and the thermostat housing. It is 1" thick and moves the thermostat housing appr 3/4" towards the passenger side and appr 1/2" higher. I think I remember the hose routing was still a tight fit. You could contact Dick Brink and see if he has them in stock. Here's a photo of the part:
  15. :iagree: Good for you Skip!!
  16. Anybody go to this event today? Wish we could have made it but just didn't have enough time.
  17. :iagree: The 2.0 ltr too...
  18. Worked fine for me both yesterday and this morning.
  19. Nice looking car! Probably not a big deal but it looks like the #1 header pipe is hitting the steering column, or it's pretty d*** close...
  20. Nice job Bill! Our Halloween has been postponed till Saturday due to all the snow, power outages, and power lines that are STILL down on the side of the road! :ack:
  21. Here's a couple photos from RetroFord's Facebook page:

  23. Here's a video from a polished aluminum S1 Seven at the same event, but unfortunately in a much smaller format. http://www.gmtracing.com/GMTracing/Event_Photos/Pages/Movie.html
