  7. So small updates today. On a hunch I figured out how to turn on datalogging and how to pull it out using offload tool. However now I'm not sure what to do with the logged data or how to read it. I saved it and it became a ".pds" file that's labeled as Pi Dataset. Offload tool doesn't open files, only configurations and Pi Toolbox doesn't appear to see these files either. So now I can log but I'm not sure how helpful it is. I think I can review them on the spot In the offload tool but I can't save them to view them later unless I figure out how to open those files (unknown).1999-11-30.00-00-00-01.pds
  8. Looks like a great build. I see the registration/inspection sticker in the window. As a fellow New Yorker who is having issues with inspections on OBD2, what is this registered as?

  10. Here is painted. It's not the worst but 3d printing leaves a lot to be desired pre paint. Needs lots of fill and work Also here is the other commissioned center ring I have with the OEM center plug
  11. SLR caps are unobtanium. There is a center piece thats like 8inches wide and flat that has the retaining screw hole and then another cap pops into the center of that center cap, and that becomes the elevated part with the 7 on it. I believe I got the last set of the center small "7" caps from CC parts but the wider parts were unavailable for sometime from CC or the original supplier. The "7" center caps aren't ... great. They are secured by plastic tabs that tend to break and I already broke one of them trying to get it into the poorly made 3d printed bigger flat cap. Mine are the same front and back. Having a friend trying to make them all as one piece right now
  12. Please let me know if you plan on making the center caps for the SLR wheels and how much you'd commission another set for... I've had 1 set 3d printed so far and not too happy with them. Looking to find another source to give it another try next.

Yeah it's a big decision with lots of +/-'s. In the end I've decided that if I'm going to make such a major investment into helping transport the car I might as well get the most use out of it. Enclosed has a similar footprint to most open, unless you go real small ultalite. On an open you still need to protect our open top car from the elements in transport and debris and your paint can get damaged once you cover it but have it lose. On the other side enclosed allows you to protect it from the elements, have all your equipment inside safe and the car safe inside at night, you can utilize it for moving and storage in meantime, you can crash in it for the night if needed and more. It's a higher price but you get a lot more out of it. On the other side of the spectrum I still don't have a car I can to it with that I own. I've been borrowing vehicles to get by once a year for the tow here and there. Trying to setup my Volvo XC70 to tow this behemoth, and in theory it could/should but I haven't done the practice. Also has a similar official tow limit of 3500 or so, and enclosed being 1800lbs (aluminum) and car being ~1200 lbs I could theoretically do it at the limit. By the time the tow car is being all setup we will likely end up purchasing a family SUV next year that will be able to tow it regardless without an issue.

That's most of my car track experience as a driver as well - NJMP/NYST. I've been a passenger at Watkins and Limerock. Personally I won't seek to go to NYST by car for solo fun, but I'll certainly tag along socially if somebody wants to do and is looking for friends to have there that day. You're right however, it's almost peak time to hit that neck of the woods for sight seeing. You being in the city certainly doesn't allow for easy get togethers but you're close enough that I'm sure I'll see you at some event when our paths cross. In my personal experience, granted the car is older and has more gremlins but just one major breakdown hours away from home and a not so pleasant drive down to NJMP solidified my want to invest in a trailer and I couldn't be happier having that as a setup. Granted your trailer storage is likely much more limited being in the city but you can also store the car in the trailer when/if needed which is a plus if enclosed.

How did you like the track? Did anything I said resonate? Where did you guys travel from?
  18. Fair points. I'll admit I judged it purely esthetically and didn't read details.
  19. I really don't hate it. Seems very well thought out and done.
  20. NYST is truly a bike track that allows cars that go there out of convenience. Sincerely somebody who loves the track on my bikes but was disappointed on it in the 7. At least the 7 was tolerable due to its size, no idea how the guys with the big cars do it and enjoy it.
  21. If CSR is little then what does that make an S3???
