  1. An exhaust leak can allow oxygen to be pulled up into the hot spots and detonate.
  2. I have the deflectors. They don't do enough in my experience. They get in the way. My solution is to dress for the wind and sun. Long sleeves, vest, head cover, ear plugs, cords for my glasses. Pretty much what I would wear for a cycle ride, from the waist up. I think it's a lot easier to do this than re-engineer the car. I have wondered if creating a forward facing edge extending from the wind screen edge would create a spoiler effect?
  3. It's better to post a description of an item and let someone search for it. Months weeks, days from now, the link to the seller may not be valid. Or could be an impersonation scam.
  4. Oh sweet jeezus
  5. Damn, your car is nice, bro. I'm thinking of painting my alu. It would have to be a a colour easily touched up and available, like a long running rattle can colour.
  6. I'm thinking the same. I watched a half pound steel shard get kicked up, fly over several cars, and strike my truck hood, a few feet in front of me. Got it on dash cam too. Even with a wind screen, I would want some eye protection in case it got shattered and I had to punch it out to see. I know, it's a 7, whatever. Eye safety. The thing I remember the most, when I was driving, was how the top of my head was getting beaten up. I started wearing a welders bandanna. Hats didn't stay on too well.
  7. This is the golden boy, AX block. Very valuable. Get a head with it?
  8. I think the issue is that Burton said the filter orientation was more or less vertical, even gave a diagram. This would be incorrect, as the filter location is obstructing the engine mount. I wonder how this went wrong.
  9. I've been looking at helmet options. Not for protection, just for wind. I'm thinking some of the newer sky diving helmets are close to what I'm looking for. Just not sure how silly I'd look in it. But then, I'm in a ridiculous car anyways.
  10. Burton guys...
  11. @32eachtime you still haven't shown us a complete URL. On your phone, turn it horizontal to take the screenshot and get more of the URL. You can copy and paste it into the text here like this, after adding quotes to it: "https://usa7s.net/ips/topic/15036-caterham-parts/#comment-143881" Horizontal shot: Vertical shot: I am in agreement with you, you were likely taken by an imposter. Caterham parts doesn’t deserve the bash it's getting on this thread, especially since we don't have a URL to judge! And, so I'm at least somewhat helpful, now I know what you ordered, I have a plate light I'll give you, the black plastic housing type. PM me and I'll get you pics. I'll hook you up.
  12. Put some straps on them and call them baby seats. I think there is a reduced rate for those.
  13. @CarlB did you see any part numbers on the BH?
  14. Well, Going through my parts, I found a 2.0 Pinto flywheel and a 1x23 green spring Pinto disc. Now I am wondering, for my T9 conversion, If I should go all the way with a Pinto pressure plate and starter? Staying 100Hp and possibly lower with the Xflow. I also have 1x23 Xflow 7.5" discs.
  15. Suspecting that voltage fluctuations may be a cause of false readings, Has anyone tried running the oil pressure circuit off the battery, out of the loom?
  16. Have an oil catch can going from the case breather. Fill ultil the excess blow out. It's normal to have some discharge on every run. Top off when you don't get discharge. Crude, yes. But a good visual to know it's full
  17. All good advice. The scammers/thieves are very clever. A goid practice to follow is if someone contacts you claiming to be from a business, or government, or anyone requesting money or personal information, Always question it. Do checks to see if they are legitimate, imposters, scams, etc. Ask close family for their opinion. I have a close family member who was taken for thousands over months. All she had to do was let someone know ir was happening. She isn't a dumb person, the scamming was very through. At her age, the financial loss, and unfortunately the loss of confidence in her reasoning, is, unfortunate. All she had to do was question it.
  18. An opportunity for an inverted airfoil for ground effect. Or at least good discussion.
  19. I can send you a grommet. See your mailbox. But the zip ties are probably better. The slot in the pedal box that travel cable is usually for a preload spring, 15lbs or so. BTW... That frame rust is what you get from that pedal box cover collecting condensate. Consider venting it on top.
  20. That's interesting. I would expect the cast links to be more valuable.
  21. Please see the article here and the embedded videos. The short: you can't trust that your personal checks will be respected. The number of immoral people has reached a point where you cannot be trusting anyone with the information on a personal check. https://www.click2houston.com/news/local/2024/08/09/houston-area-postal-worker-accused-of-stealing-cash-and-gift-cards-from-mail/ OK, you may live in Happy Family township and not have these problems. Good for you.
  22. 1600 X-flow, 80s uprated AX. 7.5" clutch. I am looking to get a fresh clutch cover, or pressure plate. I understand (it took a long time to learn this) cable operated and hydraulic operated clutch require different clutch covers. Or more specifically, the thrust bearings do. The cable clutch will typically have a flat faced thrust bearing on curly spring fingers or platen topped fingers, and the hydraulic will have a donut faced bearing on flat faced fingers. Mixing these should be avoided, but staying with cable, I have the two options, curly finger or platen. Which is better? Curly Platen Pics from QED and west wales rally spares
