I won't be going to Goodwood (you lucky dog) but I am thinking of getting a period costume for driving the 7 to shows. I'm thinking of going for a vintage coverall look with period style patches, dress white shirt and narrow tie underneath and brogans shoes. I'll probably have to drive the 7 with other shoes however.
Seemingly you should involve your daughter in the decision. If she wants to be involved with a build I would build, if she is interested in a driver I would probably tend toward that end. Either way you can have fun with am exceptional daughter and an exceptional car.
I'm glad that you liked visiting LOG.
1991 Lotus Elan M100 - Its a Lotus that is robust, fun to drive, different and inexpensive. A/C, good heat, driver's side airbag, convertable, rare (http://www.lotuselancentral.com/), good in snow. Good examples are under $14,000.
Volunteers Needed
The 31st annual Lotus Owners Gathering needs your help! It takes a lot of people to produce a LOG and this one is no exception. What is unique is that the sponsoring club - Lotus Ltd and the local hosting club - Southern Nevada Lotus Car Club are putting out a call for volunteers to all attendees.
Volunteering is a great opportunity to meet other Lotus enthusiasts from around the world, work with them and help make LOG 31 a fun and memorable event. With one notable exception It is too early to start signing up for specific tasks and shifts but it is not too early to think about how you can support the world’s greatest marquee and its fans. Typical jobs that need volunteers are:
• Stuffing goodie bags
• Placing signs
• Registration
• Setting up and packing away the autocross paraphernalia
• Directing cars at the choice car show
• Counting ballots for the peoples’ choice car show
• Unpacking trophies
• Distributing trophies
• Leading and sweeping scenic drives
• General gofer
• Chauffeuring special guest to and from the airport and other venues
The one job that needs volunteers to step up now is that of concours judge. Anyone that feels that they have extensive knowledge of Lotus cars that are 25 years old or older and is interested in becoming a judge for the formal concours d'elegance should express their interest as soon as possible. It takes a bit of time to be vetted and to become familiar with our judging procedures.
In addition to the above, if you have a special talent you would like to offer, an idea for an event or how to make this an even better event please contact me by PM.
As the planning for LOG progresses the request for volunteers will become more specific and we will be asking for people to step up and make a commitment. We won’t be asking for a great deal of time, physical or mental effort. At this point we (the hosts of LOG and the board members of Lotus Ltd) are asking that you consider volunteering some of your time and talent while attending LOG.
The trade offs seem to be availability of desirable wheels and tires for your particular purpose. Possible changes in unsprung weight, aspect ratio of the tires and ride height. To cruise I would like 13' with a higher aspect ratio for the track I would have to balance the weight, stickiness, longevity and cost. Not much help here. Try what you have for a while then start tuning to your tastes.
The big piston engines and the planes the powered are wonderful. When I worked at P&WA as a firefighter I found out that had many old engines stored away in large canisters. The canisters could be moved by forklift and stored outside. Pressurizing them with dry gas seemed to keep the engines in very good shape. I believe they all went to http://www.neam.org/
Actually there are a few who make long distance trips. Some on a regular basis. There was one Lotus Seven that made the trip from Colorado to Pennsylvanian for LOG30. A group is getting ready for an Ozark tour. People are planning an east coast to Las Vegas road trip for LOG31. Tony V. will drive his Se7en anywhere.
Remember there are probably more BMW bikes sold in the USA each year than there are Se7ens.
I recall reading about one zoo elephant that used to wait for ducks to come and eat next to it. It would then step on them. After it started painting it no longer stepped on ducks. The previous makes the following one of the world's funnies jokes.
Q. Why do ducks have webbed feet?
A. To stamp out forest fires.
Q. Why do elephants have flat feet?
A.To stamp out burning ducks.
Interesting car. There is a lot of engine packed in the front. The shorty exhaust is odd. I would be afraid of CO poisoning due to airflow. To my eyes the Lotus 340R is the best reinterpretation of a Seven.
Now this is my idea of an updated Se7en.

If only Group Lotus and Lotus Racing could team up and get a car like this produced.
