Welcome to USA7s. That car has been for sale for a while but it has not sold. I have seen the car in person too. It regularly comes up in my search script results. Before you dive into buying a seven, particularly an original, it pays to learn all about them, how to identify an original (chassis markings, ID plates, changes/mods from original, etc.), as all of these greatly impact the value it is worth. You don't want any "stories" with a car just a nice clean well documented history, big file of paperwork and no disputes about its identity. Also, before you buy any car from a dealer it is critical to google them for their reputation, customer complaints and and quality rating with the Better Business Bureau. Its the same as checking out the feedback on an Ebay seller. -
They are not nuts - I learned to jump out of small planes quite happily, 120 something jumps to my credit before I decided I had cheated death enough. What is nuts is me reaching 2 million miles on United Scarelines last year. Why could I not find a better airline? Oh wait, there isn't one in North America! :dupe: Anyway, I had seen this video earlier and seen some other not public documentation that went with this oops moment. Plane on top could not see the lower one and vice versa because of the lack of visibility. They have had a few of these collisions over the Hudson River in NYC which works on visual rules for the most part with the light aircraft corridor. FAA was not too impressed from what I read - lack of planning/coordination/risk management/etc. Lucky both pilots had parachutes harnessed on and knew how to jump (not difficult - just fall towards the ground ), although the upper plane's pilot managed to somehow land his aircraft in one piece. They would not have enjoyed the accident investigation. Did either lose their license or get a penalty? I never found out. The luckiest guy was the one who ended up straddling the fuselage of the lower plane during the collision. He could have easily been crushed or knocked unconscious or sliced apart in the shredded debris. Whats Biggles's professional view of this one? (Hi Shane!:seeya:)

Well said Rolexa! I assumed this Ebay auction would be like 98% of the ones I see out there. If you don't need to sell then there is no reason to compromise on price. I apologize for grouping you with the other sellers. I am very happy to be proven wrong in this instance with your comments showing that you truly do care for your car and will continue to drive it happily. :driving: As for why other sellers re-list at lower prices on Ebay then you may want to look at the Dutch auction strategy. I personally don't think it is a good one for sevens but it is prevailing on Ebay from my observations. -
Dan Is there an expiry date on the belts? If so then you need to replace them. One of my cars has an expiry date and if expired then I need to replace to run. If no expiry date like my other car then NJMP will not require me to replace. The thinking is that belts deteriorate/stretch with age hence the expiry date. That position is the view of the NJ State Police who interpret the application of State Law Article 62 which governs use of motor racing facilities in NJ. Given the new trooper overseeing NJMP is a hard ass who has already banned one of my (non-7) cars from running an NJMP HPDE because of a strict constructionist view of belts and roll cage then you are not going to win this battle by pleading to NJMP or the trooper (ask me how I know!). I am also aware of the absurdity of this view as I tested it two years back with my maroon seven. It has both the undated Caterham harness and undated DOT belts. When I was told to prove the harness as being in date I said it was not possible as it had no expiry. So I insisted on running the 3 point DOT belts that day. NJMP had to admit that I was legally correct to do so as much as they thought it was an unsafe solution (and I agree with NJMP). This legal stupidity is why Porsche Crash Club track days allow participants to go out driving with 40 year old DOT seat belts that have no expiry date. :banghead: Anyway, don't you want to be safe? Do you know if the previous owned accidentally stretched the belts? Isn't it peace of mind to update the belts with new ones to protect you? Cheers mike PS - 8 year old tires? hmmm.....

Ummm Steve...probably should be! The Robin Hood will eventually go for $15k area. Thats GBP8-9k area. Wasnt the Robin Hood the comedy engineering brand with fiberglass spring perches and other death design features? The S4 7 is being sold by a dealer who probably paid too much since it has failed the 3 month dealer inventory rule. It should be $23k area so that makes it GBP14k Its a case of not much supply to push the prices down. -

Do you realize this thread has 175000 views and 102 pages? We spawned a monster! The Biggles Caterham in Georgia with BDA/BDR is still on Ebay at a starting bid of $39000. 3 days to run and no bids tells me that it will be relisted with a lower starting price in a few days. Given a BDR Caterham S3 (similar look but red and ali with no scarves) went for $31k area last year and the market pricing has softened quite a lot since then, I suspect $39k upwards will be a stretch unless just the right buyer turns up. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lotus-Super-Seven-No-Door-Roadster-/231941713122?forcerrptr=true&hash=item3600cdace2:g:ADkAAOSwHJhXM86i&item=231941713122 The ex-Dennis Brunton, SuperStalker is back with its BIN of $41800 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Replica-Kit-Makes-Brunton-Superstalker-Super-Stalker-/331846360075?forcerrptr=true&hash=item4d43959c0b:g:-osAAOSwhRxXJ3iJ&item=331846360075 The Robin Hood is still hanging around here http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lotus-Super-Seven-Super-7-/182128123012?forcerrptr=true&hash=item2a67ae9c84:g:PNEAAOSwQSBXHYv5&item=182128123012 And something new this week. Our earlier seller of a 7 in Bridgewater NJ is back with a restored looking Lotus 7 S2 The S2 were the best for their strong frames? Compared with what? An S1? Al dente spaghetti? My preference is for an S3 - that was stronger better chassis. The crossflow is a more recent engine than the chassis I think? Its a privately imported car so make sure you get the US Customs/EPA importation paperwork if you buy it. For all the marketing floweriness above, the car looks great and has a BIN of $27500. Thats a good starting price to be working with. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lotus-Super-Seven-roadster-/322102237026?forcerrptr=true&hash=item4afeca1762:g:HQAAAOSwQNRXL3XL&item=322102237026 yes its here - must be setting a record for sitting on a dealer floor. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lotus-Super-Seven-S4-/272137610661?forcerrptr=true&hash=item3f5caa65a5:g:DiMAAOSwDuJWzznz&item=272137610661 Today we also have a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer LS. Why? Well the muppet dealer thinks that any listing brands of similar purpose cars in your craigslist ad you will attract the right buyer. Try again... http://miami.craigslist.org/mdc/ctd/5585124354.html Oh its Miami - figures! The Maine Birkin is here at $24520 http://maine.craigslist.org/cto/5553345299.html Whizzy's Westfield in an all caps ad (please no more shouting Whizzy!) at a lowered price of $18950 http://tulsa.craigslist.org/cto/5533297400.html Stalker in TX Asking $22k https://easttexas.craigslist.org/cto/5538694557.html Locost Rx7 project http://akroncanton.craigslist.org/cto/5545323750.html Well the ad says it is a 1980 Lotus 7. What do you think? https://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/cto/5576373133.html Hemmings and classiccars.com are out there to look at as well. -
I recommend the bakery and brew pub - very happy customer. However, they add spare tires and not lightness! :jester: For pizza you will be taken care of - there is a good one in town. Don't know about hot dogs but you are in a college town so I am hopeful. Edit - just remembered there is a hot dog place in the town of New Hope nearby. It also has a really good brew pub and is a top place to walk around (great character, interesting shops, restaurants, etc). Its sister village on the other side of the Delaware (short walk), Lambertville is a nice place to walk around too. A backroads tour is ideal for getting there.

Could this be a trick and it was a radiator switch and is now just left there as a non-operating switch to cover up the hole that would otherwise be created in the dash if it were removed?
-
A rear red fog/visibility light switch that supplements the regular lights?

The scarves go with the brown leather flying helmets hanging of the roll bar. Its Biggles from Georgia! I was thinking it was a BDR then the ad changed to BDA...its lowest hp cousin. Still it gives you a block to upgrade to BDR. And it is lovely to see. -
Correct Skip. When I was driving from Frankfurt to Magny Cours/Dijon via Mulhouse last May, I was able to get my Audi A8 up to an indicated 160mph (probably a true 150mph) on the autobahns. However, I stayed in the right lane and used my headlights frequently. I found the drivers being overtaken very alert and quick to move over. I cannot recall any time when cars dawdled in the left lane. That video was weird as the behavior of the traffic was very "un-German" from my many driving experiences there. Ah...just went to boobtube and noticed it was filmed on a Brazillian highway in 2011. That makes more sense as the lady was not speaking German.
