2023 USA7s HPDE at NJMP Lightning - CHANGED TO October 14 and 15

I hate to say it, but I think Vlad jinxed us by finally fixing his car. 😜

We will try to get next year’s date out as early as we can, once we get next year’s schedule, so you can all try to block it on your calendars.  So those of you with mechanical issues or new builds or cars on order will have no excuse.

Sunday looks salvageable. But since I am in a tin top I will stay quiet.  Finger crossed it can still come together.

Lodging policy is that it's final within a week of the event unless they can rebook it.

Does the track cancellation overrule that or are we on the hook for lodging?

Edit: Still hoping this whole thing happens but double checking worst case scenario plans.

I’ve been waiting to register and keeping an eye on the weather like everyone else.   Given I need to rent a truck to bring up my trailer and need to cancel that as well as a reservation I made at Fairfield inn, I’m afraid I’m going to cancel.  I was happy when it got rescheduled since we were out of town when it was originally scheduled.  Oh well. Hope to see everyone next year!

Added some pics of the Jim Clark Museum I went to while in Scotland. Small but worth the trip. About an hour southeast of Edinburgh.

Gotta go if your a Lotus fan.

No idea.  If they cancel the event you were coming for then it seems that they should honor an accommodation cancelation.  You would need to ring and explain.  It might hinge on whether you registered for the event or not on motorsportreg.com?

I haven't yet as I was watching the forecast so decide. I still have time to register before they cancel it if that would make a difference.

We were there last month.  What a great tribute to an incredible person.

Well the car made it through the race unscathed except for the lowered floor which I discovered has split open below the drivers seat…

…I’ll try again next year. Cross fingers for the weather for y’all this weekend.

Looks like somebody was jumping on the seat at some point. For a mostly hidden repair, I'd drill a hole on each end an inch past the visible ends of the crack, then tig from drilled hole to drilled hole. If it cracks again, consider adding another layer/doubler of .050" on the inside, bottom leg one inch wide and the  upper two inches, perforated with holes (floor not drilled, just the doubler), then plug weld the holes.

Anticipation - Do I start getting things ready? The frustration of being on hold.

Ok  CROC just heard from NJMP. They are going to do the Sunday track day. So Saturday is no but Sunday is a go for those that want to do it.   Croc and I will be there.

I’ve already taken the weekend off work. So why not, I’m still in & need my yearly dose of Lightning. 🏎

Sorry I was on the road. Croc is heading home fro his SPA trip.  Looks like Sunday is a go.  Arrival on Saturday for those who want to come in.  Drop trailers at Lightning paddock and head over to Croc’s garage to hang out for a bit.  We hopefully can have dinner at the clubhouse if it’s open or if not head into Millville.

Usual format. Breakfast at 7 am Sunday in the Clubhouse. Tech from 7:30 to 8:30 in the paddock.  Drivers meeting at 8:30am  track live at 9am

for those coming please post here just to give us a rough count.

too bad it wasn’t yesterday and today. Weather is perfect.

Guys, sorry to be the bearer of bad news but NJMP just informed Croc that they are officially cancelling BOTH Saturday AND Sunday now.  So officially  the event is off.   Croc just landed and besides being jet lagged, he’s very disappointed as am I.   We will look to see if there are any possible other dates this year, but as the weather will be cooling off more and more, it’s most likely we will be looking at next year to try again.

Just got the email from joe

Good afternoon, Drivers Club Members!

Unfortunately, the Drivers Club Member Day Track Events scheduled for this Saturday, October 14th and Sunday, October 15th on Lightning have been CANCELLED due to insufficient registrations, likely the result of the inclement weather forecast.

Registrations for October 14th and October 15th will be cancelled and refunded.

Bummer. I was looking forward to getting at least a few laps in on Sunday.

Time for a spirited local drive in this beautiful 72 degree weather.

Weather is still nice up here & Vlad moved mountains to get his car running..

I can look into that and try to gather the items to convert my car into cold weather mode (windshield, doors, half hood etc)

Most unfortunate.

Any chance we can have spring and fall event next year if the numbers support it?

I am very disappointed but understand the tracks position.  I was really looking forward to coming.  I want to Thank Croc and Yellowss7 for all the effort to make this one and all the previous ones happen.
