What do you use for your FIA dated harnesses?

I'm on the market for a new harness for NJMP his year and the option of going OEM Caterham is no longer available.

Looking at options that aren't... Yellow.

Post a pic or a link to what you have and how you like it.

There is a very good chance that I'll be putting these in just for the track day once a year and switching back to regular ones after at this rate.

Might have to do the seat bolt mod to make swap back and forth easier.

As you likely already know. I am running the Schroth profii II asm belts. Dated and has the ability to run in 4pt configuration with the asm tech.

I was going to get the grey belts but they didn’t have the 2029 expiry available at the time I ordered.  I did get the pads that cover the yellow stitching and tags (but as @Croc pointed out I can’t run those with a Han’s). But I’m not switching them in and out.

my car also has clip in on all 6pts which I actually may change the shoulder to be bolt in. But as it stands right now you could pull the current harness in 30sec.  Just unclip.

With the yellow tags showing

Just to be clear, you hate yellow so much that you wouldn't consider Shroth's like CBuff's even if they are only in the car a few days per year?  I believe Simpson and RaceQuip both offer yellow-free versions.

That is correct. I don't want to spend money on stuff I don't like, I don't want to see them in pictures on the track after and on the odd chance I don't swap them back as soon as I hope I do, I don't want to see them all the time in garage, nor do I want to drive on street with them.

Yes I feel strongly about this. The car came with a yellow valve cover which you never saw unless the hood was off and even that bothered me a lot.

Yellow clashes drastically with a white/red/black theme.

I guess this would be a bad time to mention I'm changing the forum's color theme from shades of blue to shades of yellow.  But I digress.  The Simpson looks like an option:

The yellow label is a patch sewn onto my belts. What if you (carefully & with surgical precision) just removed the offending yellow patches by cutting their threads?

Maybe. I'm open to most options right now.

Ideal solution of OEM is no longer valid for me.

Here is current setup and it's not ideal but it's good enough for me to not want to swap back and forth

Does anybody have a good supply source for Luke belts?

Luke is owned by Corbeau.  I don't think Luke is sold in the USA.  Corbeau USA does sell their own branded products here.  They have a website and sell direct out of Utah.

Stupid question but my Google fu got mixed results on this matter.

I think it said that manufacturers can recert the belts but I struggle to find any links to that info or a form or similar. Might have to call them.

I think they used to recert belts but don’t do it anymore. Not sure if there is a grandfather clause.  When I got my Schroth ones I asked about recert and they said they don’t do it anymore. Have to buy new ones. (But this is coming from the people who are selling them to me). It was hms so that’s as official Schroth as I can imagine.

I use Race quip. Do not like the color but like the belts. Got them from Pegasus, they were very helpful. Sent the first pair back because the adjusters were below the side of the seat

  • 2 weeks later...

Are these types of locks the same as regular bolt holes in regards to use and safety?

Most Lukes I come across have this type of mount now

Yes.  These are snap in fittings. That go to eye bolts.  That’s what’s installed on my schroths (as they come standard).  But you can wrap in bolt in hardware. Just have to make sure the pull angles are correct. They have some bendable brackets to accommodate this. But the snap ins tend to automatically orientate themselves.

the snap ins are also quick and easy to remove or switch if you need it. Since Schroth offers both I don’t believe there is any safety advantage to one over the other (assuming they are installed correctly).  But I am open to hearing any other opinions.

you can get some clearance issues with the crutch or lap belt snap in hardware due to limited space under and behind the seats.

Vlad,

I use these:

https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productselection.asp?Product=SAB-CCS622F-UN

They're formula car harnesses.  I've forgotten what your seats look like.  If you've got a hole for a crotch strap, then you don't need these. (although you still could use them)  If you've got the leather seats like I do, then you simply pull the crotch straps between the top and bottom sections in the back and use them like that.  A little more difficult to put on but you don't have any metal by those important parts down there!

Looks like you've got composite seats with holes.  Not to make things more complicated but if you look at the pic of you driver seat you'll note that the harnesses don't come through the holes equally.  The left is splayed left towards your shoulder and the right more towards your neck.  It's due to the placement of the mounts for the harnesses.  Not really ideal with a HANS device.  If you're interested I can send you a pic of the adapter I made for the harnesses so they're appropriate for a HANS.

Ive got Tillers with the hole and I got HANS.

I'm currently trying to narrow down OEM'ish Luke harnesses from UK but having a hard time narrowing it down to a a model from them that's FIA and that's also regular hole mount/Caterham type.

@CBuff thanks. I was afraid that was the case. Even the non snap in job is bad enough. Certainly don't want to make it worse
