Slonie Posted July 14 Posted July 14 Our annual Norcal "7/7" Fish and Chips Run (actually on 7/11) was a big success AND came with free Slurpees! With 12 sevens attending I think this was the biggest west coast gathering of sevens in quite a while* and there's still plenty of room to grow! *with absolute respect to the California Caterham Club and their trackdays — had 12 sevens on Streets of Willow in 2005! See LowFlying July 2005) Looks like this date falls on a Sunday next year so I'm looking forward to doing it all over again in a year. 7 2

IamScotticus Posted July 15 Posted July 15 (edited) I havent run this in a group, but the HOGs run this: Morgan's point, or Kemah, 146 to Seabrook, NASA Rd 1 to Hwy 3 to Galveston. Could take 146 all the way to Galv but I think 3 is wider and safer. Edited July 15 by IamScotticus 1

I actually want to take his lead but claim to be saving myself for an illuminated sand rail whip flagpole. The S4 is Ken of the Golden Gate Lotus Club. Twin Cam! And yes, this drive nominally takes place on 7/7 but 7/11 was the closest weekend day and I could not resist suggesting this date. We had a big group for most of the drive and everyone made it to the Fish and Chips destination without any mechanicals. And who has time? Well, I've been wrangling all the local 7 owners for the past couple years with things like this as the goal (as well as general drives and meetups and just connecting the community). Since this was "the big one", people really made an effort to come out, including from pretty far afield! Next year 7/11 is a Sunday so I'm pretty sure we'll do a repeat! Edited July 15 by Slonie 4

Another friend suggested trying to find an XI to join us but that was a tough ask. If we had stopped at 7-Eleven on the way to Fish & Chips we could have really made a scene. A tad surprising, but the many small hurdles were cleared and it was done with a pal helping in maybe 90 minutes, including running and splicing the wire to the brake light.

I had to pry it out of the chassis with a wrecking bar my father had made out of a car spring. This is after taking out the secret bolts that required the removal of the coilover units. Upon reassembly, I thoroughly cleaned the cup in the chassis and the tubing end, then swamped them with anti-seize. If I ever have to take it out again, I don't want to repeat the hours of prying.

Yes you get to hold the rear dampers in your hands to get to the “aggravating” bolts to the roll bar underneath. Seriously, love the access to the top bolts on the dampers.

A few of the local folks have them and say it works great too. And most of them don't have a top.

And most of them don't have a top. I bought a 1/4 " Lexan 9x36 off of Amazon...just needs some edge trimming. Anything less than 1/4 in. is too thin.... wind'll make her flap. 1
