Croc
What was the result with Phil? Did he see his shadow? I have been traveling all week in the UK and missed the end story. FleaBay has one car - the British Racing Green Stalker. Current bid $13600 with a BIN of $19500 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Replica-Kit-Makes-Bruntun-Super-Stalker-Classic-1959-lotus-super-seven-v-6-sc-/251816244557?forcerrptr=true&hash=item3aa16af54d&item=251816244557&pt=US_Cars_Trucks Anyone looking for a racing seat for our cars - I think it could be a fiberglass Tillet? No bids starting at $200 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lotus-Super-Seven-Racing-Seat-Lotus-Super-7-and-Caterham-/251821466747?pt=Race_Car_Parts&hash=item3aa1baa47b&vxp=mtr The Honolulu Birkin with Miata drivetrain at $19000 is still available http://images.craigslist.org/00j0j_izlsXVwjF9N_600x450.jpg http://honolulu.craigslist.org/oah/cto/4831652080.html Yamaha R1 powered Locost is still around at $8000 http://jacksonville.craigslist.org/cto/4874375283.html And new this week for those who live in the northern half of the United States or even our Canadian cousins, a high powered snow plow! At least that is how I would suggest you justify it to your wife! http://images.craigslist.org/00V0V_d8v1QfxCUnn_600x450.jpg Yes Brunton Auto is doing a little advertising! http://tampa.craigslist.org/pnl/cto/4865859362.html There is a bunch of stuff still available for the previous listings so I am not repeating that. But in Washington Missouri there is a BRG Westfield with tan pleather (no not a misspell) interior. Crossflow. I think this is the CT car spotted a while back in this thread being sold in the low $20k's area. Well now it is at a dealer asking $31995. This is the best example of one of these that I have seen. This replica was professionally built in 1995 and has travelled a little over two thousand miles since. If I were to build a Westfield 7 this is the way I would have done it. The car is British racing green with a superb tan interior. The seats are piped in dark green. The seat belts are Williams harness style. The drive train has the 1700cc Ford cross-flow engine equipped with twin side draft Webers, five speed gearbox, full independent rear suspension, four wheel disc brakes and 15 inch alloy wheels. This Westfield is completely finished and includes full instrumentation, turn indicators, windscreen washers, wipers and even a heater with electric fan. A complete and extensive set of weather gear is included: top, side curtains, tonneau cover and car cover. $31,995. http://classiccars.com/listings/view/631866/1965-lotus-super-seven-for-sale-in-washington-missouri-63090 Ragtops and Roadsters has a "1969 Birkin" 1969 Birkin Super Seven S3 Lotus Replica 7200 original miles, reliable, very fast, great handling. 1996 Contour 2.0L DOHC Zetec, rebuilt, 150 hp New Sierra Type 5 transmission 5 speed, hydraulic clutch 1985 Corolla rear axle, 4.11 : 1 Honda rear/Golf front disc brakes, bias adjustable, adjustable pedals DCOE 45 Weber's with manual choke, K&N filters - re-oiled. scannon
Not a Seven but a 1st cousin. This 1960 Lotus Elite S2 project is on BaT and Craigslist here in Denver. If only I had the cash it looks to be a fun project. http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/4878434497.html http://images.craigslist.org/00X0X_3ZUO352HAH0_600x450.jpg http://images.craigslist.org/01515_lgByfV88Kgp_600x450.jpg
Sabbot
What do people think about the dark color of the elite and strong summer sun - is it really an issue?
panamericano
Blue and white = USA racing colors! Otherwise, it would have to be BRG, also dark. Here in Texas, just being in the sun is bad. Sometimes you just take your choices. This one won't be cruising with the AC on.
Paul Hill
Croc... Seems nobody wants to put you out of your misery.... As I recall only 1 of the 6 noted furballs saw his shadow. However... seems the best accuracy of the bunch is less than 40%. Meanwhile the snow is falling, ice rain mixed in for good measure. We're expecting 10-15" by Tuesday. Croc
The problem with that Lotus 23 is that it is a bit like Grandpa's axe - everything has been replaced progressively over time so at what point is it not deserving of original status. Lovely car, don't get me wrong, but I question the historical premium built into the price.
TheDingo8MyBaby
The problem with that Lotus 23 is that it is a bit like Grandpa's axe - everything has been replaced progressively over time so at what point is it not deserving of original status. Lovely car, don't get me wrong, but I question the historical premium built into the price. I think that can be said about most vintage race cars. At least this one has traceable history and the seller is upfront about it's issues over time. That being said - I'm not sure this one would be terribly competitive on track, but it sure looks nice. I had a word with Mr Elite - Mike Ostrov yesterday about the craigslist Elite. He's had 4 calls and 3 emails about it. Based on the pictures he's seen, it's a gamble as to what the bodywork may or may not due in the sun. He estimates another $30-40k to put it right. Kitcat
I received an e-mail notice around 9:00 pm yesterday, containing an interesting post on this thread by Sabbott abt building an original Lotus Elite body onto a Seven chassis. Great idea! Wonder what happened to his post tho? I also got an e-mail notice of a post by Xcar late last nite on the politics, etc., forum that is not there. Looks like the forum went through it's software upgrade. As such, I suspect the last few posts are gone with the wind. Bill S.
slngsht
Yes, software has been upgraded. I don't have an explanation as to what happened to those posts. Sabbot
I was starting to think the forum had an automatic "ludicrous thought" filter. I was pretty sure i had submitted the reply but when i checked this morning the message was nowhere to be found. I guess i offended the software update gods. Anyway to try again, the basic idea / question was "how difficult might it it be to graft a new type 14 elite shell etc. onto a short wheelbase caterham chassis?" As a slightly updated version of the couple of elan/elite that werecreated a few years ago. regards, Stewart
TurboWood
In other unrelated but equally useless information, this thread is operating at about a page a week. Nice work fellas. Croc
TurboWood - I had thought about your idea but there is so much incomplete information such as correct specs, final sales price, etc. So I gave up on things. I do find this thread gives a directional trend and a sense of an appropriate range of prices for specific cars. So it serves its purpose. So today I found the most expensive Caterham in the USA currently for sale. I thought it would be at Caterham USA given the high prices they chase but no I found it elsewhere. 2014 model. Asking $105,000 No surprise that despite asking that much there is no detail in the ad....sigh! http://www.race-cars.com/carsales/other/1423669941/1423669941ss.htm The Locost in SC with the Yamaha Rq engine is still on Ebay at $8500 buy it now. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Replica-Kit-Makes-Roadster-Locost-7-Lotus-7-Replica-with-Yamaha-R1-power-/191507646091?forcerrptr=true&hash=item2c96bec68b&item=191507646091&pt=US_Cars_Trucks Another ad with more photos is here: http://raleigh.craigslist.org/cto/4880421679.html 2005 Stalker in British Racing Green in VA - repeat from last week. $17500 buy it now.
