Vovchandr
Despite only one person missing me, I am back posting this. Usual rules apply this year - I have no interest in these cars. Posting as a favor to save you looking. There may be other cars for sale out there. Do your homework before you buy. I am not responsible for your divorce if you buy a seven from these links..... anyway the car is probably better looking, less expensive to run and does not nag you in the evenings when you grab another drink while watching football on TV! Don't sell yourself short and give yourself too little credit. Myself and I'm sure plenty others look forward to updates to this thread on the regular. Whether we already have one and are just curious about others for sale or somebody is a potential buyer as using your thread as the ultimate "7 for sale" reference guide that it is. My join date might be recent but I've been a lurker of this thread and forum for years. Edited January 13, 2019 by Vovchandr
ashyers
Agreed! This has been one of my weekend reads for some years now. It's a great resource and I suspect more than a few on the site have purchased cars found here.
Anaximander
+3 on the appreciation of Croc's weekly postings. VERY informative/entertaining and has been the source of one Caterham and two Stalker purchases. Thanks Croc! Certified Lotus
Despite never owning a seven, I read Croc’s posts every week and have done so for years. One day.......

Kitcat
If Croc doesn't return to Australia at least 1x a year, he forfeits the right to be called "Croc" on this site and instead reverts to his American nickname, "Bubba". And, at that point he has to enter remedial speech classes with Xcarguy and brush up on his southern accent.

kaptain86
Thanks for posting these, I keep tabs on this post as well. One day I am hoping to own one, figuring out what I would be looking to spend by looking through the for sale ads.
speedwagon
Wish to chime in, Croc; You have been the "market maker" for 7s for a few years, there is no telling how much time you have saved both buyers and sellers by helping to create a pool of knowledgeable people in both categories. My car is going to out live me one of these days and a realistic value, is of value. Thank you very much for your time and knowledge. john
panamericano
While Croc is basking in his (well deserved) glory, there are cars of interest(?) on BAT: Caterham: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2002-caterham-super-seven-2/ Modified, ahem, Panoz AIV that could wake you up: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2003-panoz-custom-roadster/
11Budlite
I don't think I've seen this one on Ebay before: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1919-Lotus-Other/333018508206?hash=item4d89732bae:g:l6IAAOSwZ-9cP2U0:rk:12:pf:0&vxp=mtr There's also a possible Caterham business opportunity noted by the seller. Kitcat
Sounds like Ben at Rocky Mountain Motorsport. He sold Cats to a lot of folks, incl Croc and Alacossie and was the main U.S Caterham distributor for years. If the car is set up for a Signa engine, the wiring loom may only support that engine directly, tho it can be rewired.
yellowss7
Don't think so Mike, pretty sure it's Jon Nelson. Want to bet?:seeya:
Kitcat
Tom: they worked together for many years at R Mtn Motorsport, no? Anyhow, you may be right.
yellowss7
I'm certain Jon was the US Distributor in 2000. Initials of Seller are JMN. Coincidence? Jon new his stuff and was very helpful to me.
Croc
Its Jon's Ebay ID. Jon Nelson was the importer/distributor. The old kit import rules were that the kit importer could not be the same as business that sourced the engine/transmission or assist with build. Thats how Ben Wofford and his father (name escapes me for now) were in the picture as Rocky Mountain Sport Cars (I think I got that right). Prior to 2000 I am pretty rusty but I thought Jon was part of RMSC as a dealer but made the change to independent when the import/distributor role surfaced in order to comply with the import rules. Jon and Ben coordinated well but there was legal separation in order to be compliant with law. All of my paperwork from my parts/CSR/etc purchases reflects that legal separation. The rules changed sometime after 2013 but thats another story. When the mess around Caterham dealerships occurred, Jon retained the legacy inventory from his days as Caterham importer/distributor. I bought some parts I think after the transition. For anyone thinking of dealing with Jon, I would vouch for him as a total gentleman in my lengthy dealings with him. Very knowledgable on Caterhams. I thought the Caterham UK people treated him poorly at the time and made a complete hash of their US distribution/dealer network. He was an asset to Caterham UK and they squandered it. Ben's now at Tesla these days.
Croc
And on a separate note - that Panoz AIV now on Ebay has been bouncing around Ebay and on consignment with a classic car dealer for about a year plus. I included the ads on here for a few weeks before I decided it really was more like a fire engine than a seven.

After my encounter with the bear, I had some extensive dealings with Jon also, further complicated by the interaction with my insurance company, and he really went out of his way to help me. Kitcat
Maybe Jon should list his parts inventory for sale here? Most of us Caterham owners like to keep a spare or 2 of everything, so when something breaks, we aren't frustrated by the typical Caterham response:"Part not currently available."
