  1. Great Photos Gert......Thanks for posting them up for all of us who have been following your tour.
  2. Now that is knowing your vehicle......very impressive....
  3. Funniest add I have read in a long while.......
  4. I am not an expert but do tow several different types of trailers and if you have trailer brakes on the trailer (not mechanical surge brake type {think boat trailer or rental trailer} that are controlled by the trailers weight pushing on the hitch [i will not own a trailer with that setup]) and a controller in the tow vehicle you should push the manual override to cause the trailer breaks to put a drag on the trailer to make it pull straight behind the tow vehicle and then start to slow the tow vehicle down to a complete stop to inspect the trailer and load as an improper loaded trailer (load has shifted) or the loss of a tire or even a large gust of wind and going too fast or the sezing of a wheel bearing can all cause a trailer to do a death wag like the video depicted. If you happen to have the mechanical type brake system on the trailer you had better catch it quickly and get on the breaks so the trailers mechanical break system loads the brakes and come to a complete stop and figure why the trailer is having an issue. My read of that video is the tow vehicle was going way too fast for load and type of trailer and is way too small of a tow vehicle to have been towing that size setup to start with, so it is my belief an accident was waiting to occur as it did. Yes I do realize that there are a lot of people out there that have and due tow trailers with marginal tow vehicles and get away with it but the video shown in this post looks like the tow vehicle was towing a trailer that most likely was meant to be towed by much larger vehicle (think dump truck) and then had the same size and type vehicle loaded onto the trailer which most likely made the combined weight of the trailer and load more than the rated tow value of the tow vehicle but that is just my belief and as I said at the start of this post I am not an expert so take my advise with a grain of salt. One of my setups and it gets used a lot.
  5. I would have to agree but what do I know....I sure will not be putting in an offer....
  6. That is for sure.....:jester:
  7. Scott you have a PM.
  8. Now that is the TRUTH in most cases........very good description of the 911 models.:smilielol5:
  9. Now that is a good tip and one I hope to remember.
  10. SO TRUE SO TRUE :iagree: I have been told that the Cayman line might be going away as it seems to be cutting into the market share of the 911 just like the 914-6 did back in 1970 as the 911 is the model most people think of when they hear or see the word Porsche. WestTexasS2K here is a link that shows the different models of the 911. http://www.porsche.com/usa/models/911/
  11. This car looks like the first CMC Seven that was used in their original promotional photos and before they developed their Miata based car just before they when out of business. Looks to be a heck of a good deal but that is just my belief.
  12. Hi Ryan, For the cost of the gas you will spend you can have it shipped to your new residents I would suspect if you do not sell it before the move west. Just a thought.
  13. She had to be a true BLONDE would be my bet.....:jester:.......:smilielol5:
  14. Thanks for the posts as they are great and I look forward to reading the groups next adventure and the photos.
  15. Wow one of 500 built and one of 32 shipped to the US as far as I know....I have only seen one and it is owned by the local dealer in Santa Barbara, CA. who uses it as his daily driver....but he is a dealer..... I agree with Jon W to find a Porsche Certified Pre-Owned vehicle as it is the best way to go on a used Porsche unless you know the owner of the vehicle and its history.
  16. Mike, Just my belief but the Porsche and BMW owners that I have encountered (an I am a Porsche owner along with several other makes [six in total]) that have more than just one car (like a lot of the members of this forum have) that they enjoy always seem to know what our 7's are all about and usually want to look over the car or get a ride in it if they do not have one of their own. The ones that are not looking are most likely driving a Porsche or BMW as a status symbol and really have no idea what their cars are capable of or doing let alone what a 7 is able to do or why someone would own one. This is just my belief so take it for what it is worth which is nothing by the way but as a side note I have taken my car to the PCASB Alternate Vehicle Porsche Breakfast that our club has once a quarter and the 7 seems to always have a large number of the members looking at it and asking if they can sit in it and asking all kinds of questions and the members of our club have some very very nice alternate cars compared to my clone 7 which are considered to be rare and very expensive to say the least. Here is a link to our clubs magazine for May that shows my 7 at the April breakfast just for grins. http://pcasb.org/pcasb/DerAuspuff/2011/2011-05.pdf :driving: and enjoying life.
  17. Interesting to say the least.....something to do with the speed the car was going when the photo was taken and the shutter speed of the camera I would suspect....I come to this conclusion only after realizing that the photo of the Miata was taken from another moving vehicle which was along side if I am not wrong. Neat illusion that would be hard to reproduce I bet. :driving:
  18. I bet those rims are heavier than a standard rim....just looks to weard for me.
  19. Now that is funny.....ashame you did not have a GoPro setup and running to post it up as that is funny and priceless.... I think I would have been laughing to hard to have turned or to have waved at him being a big olf of a red neck.....:driving:
  20. Now that is my kind of refridgeator.
  21. Avery, Stay safe and thank you for serving your country.
  22. Neat video but I would not like to be in the car with the loose RECARO seat at time stamp 05:20 (driver with the Orange helmet and DORF on the front). Seat looks like it is really loose or missing some of its attachment supports. Yes I know the forces are strong but that seat is really moving around a lot I do believe after watching it a couple of times.
  23. Here is the web site your looking for. http://www.monstermiata.com/
  24. That is interesting.
  25. Proj217, Just was reading your wedothings.org blog and you have realy done some traveling which is something a lot of people will never get the chance to do. A week at a dog rescue shelter Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia, Vietnam (I have spent sometime their and I would like to go bad someday to visit) South America, Antarctica to go swimming (I lived in McMurdo Station and Dome Charle (South Pole Station) for three seasons while attached to the NSFA in the late 80's) and Africa. So how do you and your wife plan on getting to be on the first space flight to a neighboring planet.....just kidding as I feel if the two of you wanted to do that you would figure it out some how. Thanks for the travel log and photos as S1Steve said their are a lot of great photos to see and a lot to read about your travels. Keep posting for all of us who are stuck in the rat race of work and family and day to day life and be safe.
