  1. Bruce, the coolest part was a hammerhead. After a fast dive, he headed up till the wings stalled and it fell over backwards. Plenty of altitude to regain control. The next crazy trip to that air strip was to go up in a glider. With a genuine WW2 German glider pilot. The real surprise was when we found an updraft, it didn't "glide" up at an angle, but just felt like it was pushed straight up like a strong, fast elevator.
  2. Now that is real flying, not sitting in a jet liner. I got a wonderful ride in a Steerman, aerobatics and all. Just super. I think I paid like $30-$40 for the ride. Worth ten times that.
  3. Croc, Definitely agree on the conservative color for the 400. I briefly had a grey one and it was invisible cop-wise compared to a red. No-one noticed it or saw a Ferrari coming. Makes it much easier to drive around. One of the best ways to enjoy a V12, Though I loved a BMW 750 V12.
  4. Congratulations on a job well done. Looks like you did Lars proud and I'm sure the family appreciated it.
  5. Finally, my car on a T shirt. BRG, RHD, cycle fenders and all. https://www.blipshift.com/products/the-lightweight
  6. None of the mods would be a struggle for the Unsers. If not theirs, it could be a mod that ended as "also ran". Very cool no matter what.
  7. Or Bobby Unser 1965 Lotus/Chev Or Bob Montana 1963 Lotus Mark XI Valiant (wrong series #, later helmet?) Or Dan Morgan 1966 Lotus/Ford but these are the only 1960s records I see in Pikes Peak records. Unfortunately, their records on the web only show the class winners, so if it someone else, it will require more digging. No matter which, this would be a great "period History" vintage car.
  8. Edit: 70 cc might be a bit too small, even or an Abarth. Make that 750!
  9. All save one are very light, of course. Abarth and Lotus domnate. His crazy 70 club special. Seven very near the end. The interview with the man is worth the view.
  10. As they said back in the day, "Far out, man."
  11. "Does anyone know where I can get the correct color BRG touch up paint and a fuel sender gasket? " Put the bonnet in the Tacoma and head over to your local automotive paint supplier. They will mix and match till the touch up is just right.
  12. "I'll do a proper video cut of the unveiling and such in a week or so." So many delays, but ever the optimist. Great. You've got to do something about that driveway. You'll get the tires dirty!
  13. Could not have much worse that the last Toyota Pickup I sold. 38 years old; son spun and crashed every corner; so I put on a Ford Ranger grille (zip ties). Mechanic straightened the hood to work perfectly, new headlight buckets and tail lights. No dent repair. Perfect for driving to the job. The union lads could not hurt it.
  14. I hope by bottled water, you meant Holy Water. Or at least distilled. Spring water may contain minerals.
  15. Send me a PM if you can get to NW Dallas. I have a regular S3 Birkin, but don't think it would significantly different from a Cat in terms of fit. You are one step under me in all dimensions, so I'm guessing no problem.
  16. Great looking car. Looks like the lady is a keeper too.

Some Croc might want to get one of these. Hurry. https://link.caranddriver.com/click/29804793.9021/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuY2FyYW5kZHJpdmVyLmNvbS9uZXdzL2E0MjA2MjUzNi9ibXctMzAtY3NsLXJldmVhbGVkLWRldGFpbHMvP3NvdXJjZT1ubCZ1dG1fc291cmNlPW5sX2NkYiZ1dG1fbWVkaXVtPWVtYWlsJmRhdGU9MTEyNjIyJnV0bV9jYW1wYWlnbj1ubDI5ODA0NzkzJnVzZXJfZW1haWw9Yzk4MjNjNWUxMzA0Yjk2N2M5N2YyZmQ5ZjFjMjU1ZDM0MmI4MTU4OTBkMWFlMzU0OWIxOGFkYmM4NWUyZWU4Nw/586d9a6399964a474e8b456dD223f2ebb
  18. Don't know if this is somewhere in the list above. On the Locost site: http://www.locostusa.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=20774&sid=58ae693d6ef398166411a44e1aa7f349
  19. Doctor, thank you for sharing the photos. It's nice to see a Birkin being used so well. Here's to many more trips around the mountain.
  20. Just went T or T with the grandsons. Wish I had seen this earlier. Great work.
  21. #1 rule to avoid backing accidents: Don't back! Anyway, as long as you keep the hand brake adjusted, it's easy enough to push back if need be.
  22. Looks like a really nice build. Should be fun. I especially like the way they angled the exhaust out.
  23. Are you getting excited? When are we going to fire that baby up?
  24. Yeah, I've known people that fill the crankcase with diesel for a while, then changed the oil. Anyway, back in the day, when there were dedicated VW shops around, the rebuilds were quite cheap. Now you're lucky if you can find a mechanic (excuse me, technician) that knows them at all.
  25. I could hook you up with Gordon. Anyway, having a RHD Peugeot engined car, I am happy to see another that is outside the norm. If it's largely 124 based, I should think the hard parts will be available and cheap. Go, man, go!
