1. I think that's why it was posted in Off Topic!
2. Very nice Sebastian! Besides the Simple Sevens site you can also check out the Lotus Seven mailing list for original Sevens: http://mailman.se7ens.net/mailman/listinfo/lotus
3. Just for reference here's a copy of the original sales receipt for my '64 MGB which was sold in 1965. Base price was $2531, optional equipment $186.85, under coat $25, and tax and tags $25. Total: $2742.85. Also of note is the $842.85 that the original owner got in trade for his 1957 Jag XK140 coupe. Bet he wishes he had that one back!
4. Not sure which ECU you are running but there are a few more diagrams to check in the files section here: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/birkinowners/files/ Some good info for Emerald users here: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/birkinowners/files/Slomove%20Wiring/ And check out the three "Painless" files from Jeff Cranmer for some more info.
5. Jackal - Not sure what the build doctor is but this is the one I have from the Yahoo/Birkinowners site: http://f1.grp.yahoofs.com/v1/QJ47T547s1iK860Vp7H49rG-5ErYYyWbIWxUCPJHlZQdUqk5rQlGGYnPxR0BowpxKS01QilZjafT4qNHot07PjCm-YxrS-k8gwuA/birkinwiring.pdf
6. Bump with lowered price, $125 + shipping obo.
7. Six available from Amazon sellers, but they're not cheap: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/185532153X/ref=dp_olp_used_mbc?ie=UTF8&storeAttribute=b&submit.see-all-buying-options=see-all-buying-options&condition=used
8. Craig - I'll take the steering wheel if no one else has yet. I sent you an email.
9. Hi Randy. Don't you have a Birkin with aluminum fenders? If you do you should post some photos of it, that should pick up some business. If you could do front fenders to match the rears that would be a great deal at $300 a pair ($600/set). The only concern I would have with aluminum fenders is the beating they take in a Se7en...at least on the roads I drive! I've seen the work you do on your website, very impressive!
10. zuspiel - You're welcome, glad I could help. Have you checked the airflow through each individual port to see that they all flow the same? Adjusting that setup looks like it'd be a PITA, especially with it installed in the car!
11. Here's a photo I have of the TWM ITB's with the TPS mounting location circled:
12. Not sure what type of ITB's you have but with my Zetec/Jenvey setup it's located at the end of the throttle shaft on the rear ITB. If you have the setup with the TWM ITB's the linkage is a little different if I remember correctly. Here's a photo of my setup with the TPS circled:
13. I've been using a Tekonsha Prodigy for the last few years and have been happy with the performance and ease of use.
14. I think I'd stick with one of these if I wanted more power: http://www.flyinmiata.com/V8/ I wonder which would be quicker in the 1/4 mile?
15. For my own info, what distributor did Caterham use on their Crossflow motors? I'm pretty sure there were Lucas, Bosch, and Motorcraft (Autolite?) distributors used on the various Crossflow applications over the years. Just to add to the supplier possibilities, if the distributor matches up with the Formula Ford application you could try Pegasus Racing: https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/group.asp?GroupID=IGN1600 Or BAT: http://208.109.215.220/files/ffnet.pdf Or if you can cross-reference to a 1.6 liter Pinto or Fiesta you could even try Rock Auto: http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,carcode,1135088,pgname,Ignition If it's a Lucas distributor then you could check out Moss Motors, Victoria British, and the other US-based LBC suppliers.
16. The fuel cell is spoken for. If the deal falls through I'll repost.
17. I've had this sitting in storage since I went back to my slightly modified stock tank back in April of 2009. I switched back in an attempt to get rid of the fuel smell that would exist when my Birkin was parked in the garage. Switching back to the stock tank didn't get rid of the smell, so I modified the vent line routing which helped but didn't completely get rid of the smell. I can only assume it's the braided fuel hose that's causing the fuel smell problem. Here's a link to my thread on the problem: http://usa7s.com/vb/showthread.php?t=2335&highlight=fuel+cell+smell So I took the fuel cell apart and could not find any evidence of a fuel leak or any pin holes in the bladder. The foam blocks were flushed with water and left to dry outside and showed no deterioration. It was reassembled with new gaskets and nylon sealing washers and has been in storage ever since. The cell has only had premium fuel in it from 9/07 till I took it apart in 3/09, a total of 19 months. I also rotated the pick-up in the surge tank to pick up fuel at the lowest point in the cell....should give more useable capacity than I experienced when I first filled it up. The can is .080" aluminum, has the above mentioned internal surge tank, AN6 fittings, a bulkhead fitting and custom return line installed in the fill plate, and an adjustable VDO fuel gauge compatible sending unit. This could possibly be used in other applications or if you're building a Locost. Here are the dimensions of the can. Capacity: appr 10 gallons OA Length: 31.58" Height of Rear Wall: 9.173" Height of Front Wall: 11.66" Width of Side-Bottom: 9.075" Width of Side-Top: 7.362" Also included is the little 90 degree AN6 3/8" SS line that I used to hook up to my pre-filter. Note: Last photo shows fuel cell installed in car but with return line temporarily hooked up to vent valve to prevent FOD. Looking for $1100 + shipping OBO
18. Complete carpet set that was removed/never used from a 1989 DeDion long cockpit (the infamous Sugino Seven). According to the original owner it is supposed to be Wilton wool carpet but I have no way of verifying that. I do know that the quality is much better than my Birkin carpet and that it is bound in leather. There are also two leather covered aluminum pieces that go under the rollbar - see 1st photo. The carpet looks as new. Not sure what other years this might fit. I'm looking for $150 + shipping obo. Own a piece of Seven history!
19. I like this one too....love the 917 shift knob! Check out some of the build here: http://www.race-taxi.ch/indexx.htm
20. I have the same commute as Russ. Unfortunately my pay is about the same as my commute... :ack:
21. For Ford-powered cars (non-V8) I always liked this one: http://www.burtonpower.com/
22. Here's the R&T article that turned me on to the Westfield Eleven: http://members.toast.net/joerger/north.html It's still a good read all these years later...
23. I agree with Martin about the MG VIN number. How about this one for an MG/Lotus connection. It's an original MG TC that was race-modified back before the Seven S1 was first produced. Obviously the chassis and suspension are nothing like a Seven but the look, especially from the front, is similar to a Seven but overall it's probably more closely related to a Lotus Mark VI: http://www.britishracecar.com/DanLeonard-MG-TC.htm
24. Thanks Skip, that was great. :flag:
