  1. Wow, Croc. I gree with everything you said! neat trick with the turn signals to abate the nannies. Yes, I agree that BMW has lost their way. The newest front ends are hideous. It started with Chris Bangle screwing up the trunk lids. Trunk a % looked like came from a 7..Trunk on a 7 looked like off a proto-9? And they are not the "driver's car' any more. Several years ago, I went to a mfg drive/test thing and basically autocrossed a new 3. Unfortunately, I had a really nice prepped 2002 (Webers, tires, shocks, minilites, etc) for a few weeks at the time. The new car was no match for the 2002. Huge let down. No problem with Mercedes, they have always been a reliable truck. Even, also, sworn off VW after a terrible experience.
  2. Seems I have noticed that Croc has not posted his daily driver. Maybe ask the chauffer or car service?
  3. 2017 Tacoma when I need a pickup. Truth is I drive the Wife's 2013 Civic more. Like em? For driving, the Civic can't hold a candle to the Jetta before. The Tacoma is just so big, after my 1980 Toyota pickup (La Milagrosa).
  4. Anyway, when you're ready to blast off the line, switch off the compressor. Everything should cold for some seconds...
  5. When it comes down, you better have your back off the seat, like "posting a trot" as we used to say with horses and motorcycles.
  6. Not to get carried away, but cold fuel is great too. I used to have trouble with vapor lock in rallies at high altitude in central Mexico. Got fed up and put a drag race (Summit) cool can in the fuel line, in the engine compartment. Add ice, or even pop cycles if all available, and the engine roared off the line. Really like a different motor.
  7. A truly impressive piece of work.
  8. https://www.automobilemag.com/news/blaze-ev-classic-microcar-japan/ Maybe tell the friendly man at US Customs that it is a kid's toy.
  9. So important to have goals. Congratulations from 12-3 in the evening.
  10. I would not recommend that in Texas. After the shouting, you might get shot!
  11. Great thread. Thanks for the nice read.
  12. I can't believe you said that. Obviously, you have been going to "meetings." 'Hi, I'm Croc. I'm a caraholic...'
  13. Glad to see from you, Doctor. Looking forward to your next trip. It's good to be negative!
  14. All good comments. I agree that a bright color "may" help. Mine is BRG, I also have a flag up at the back. But the main think is assuming they are all dummies. With all the electronic toys, people drive even worse now than 15 years ago. It is hard to see with a phone held in front of the face or looking down at the lap. Years ago, people ran red lights and would swear it was still yellow, close to the light change. Now about once a month I see someone go through a red light that may be half way through the cycle. They are truly driving blind. Same with stop signs. Not a slight roll, but straight through at 35 mph. Yikes! Stay away from everyone and keep your head on a swivel.
  15. Welcome aboard. Looks like we've added some class. Love some of those details. Thanks for posting
  16. John, if you eliminate all that, you would either cut the Croc eggs off or get rid of him entirely. We are a tough skinned lot, so just leave him alone for our amusement. :smilielol5:
  17. That's a lot of hard work. Especially for volunteers. Big THANK YOU from users.
  18. And a Merry Christmas from Texas. I don't know whether to congratulate or pity all you folks with a White Christmas. Hopefully you have kids around to make that worthwhile.
  19. Speaking of Christmas, here's a story of Christmas eve at Lotus with the Elise prototype. Looks like a crazy Seven from the front. https://media.lotuscars.com/en/blog/%E2%80%98the-alternative-christmas-story%E2%80%99-from-lotus-the-birth-of-the-elise-proto-one.html
  20. FB worked fine for me. FUN, is a bit silly. Wonder about the camera car that passes the Cat.
  21. Well, didn't Chapman start out with a trials car? Real continuation.
  22. But, Croc, even Formula One chooses to run rubbish tires. State of what art?
  23. I found all of this quite interesting. Not quite so technical as their usual fare. Learned a lot of details of my favorite prewar car. Good section on non destructive testing, including on composites. I've seen an old mag wheel blow up, sitting still, and a few years ago a Ferrari F1 tub broke in two at Monterey. Plus modern builds of the Coventry Climax. https://www.racecar-engineering.com/digiissues/MASTER.pdf
  24. Nice car. Good luck with the sale. In the photos, is that a wind blocker mounted to the roll bar? Or is it only used with the reef? How does it work?
