  1. John, if you eliminate all that, you would either cut the Croc eggs off or get rid of him entirely. We are a tough skinned lot, so just leave him alone for our amusement. :smilielol5:
  2. That's a lot of hard work. Especially for volunteers. Big THANK YOU from users.
  3. And a Merry Christmas from Texas. I don't know whether to congratulate or pity all you folks with a White Christmas. Hopefully you have kids around to make that worthwhile.
  4. Speaking of Christmas, here's a story of Christmas eve at Lotus with the Elise prototype. Looks like a crazy Seven from the front. https://media.lotuscars.com/en/blog/%E2%80%98the-alternative-christmas-story%E2%80%99-from-lotus-the-birth-of-the-elise-proto-one.html
  5. FB worked fine for me. FUN, is a bit silly. Wonder about the camera car that passes the Cat.
  6. Well, didn't Chapman start out with a trials car? Real continuation.
  7. But, Croc, even Formula One chooses to run rubbish tires. State of what art?
  8. I found all of this quite interesting. Not quite so technical as their usual fare. Learned a lot of details of my favorite prewar car. Good section on non destructive testing, including on composites. I've seen an old mag wheel blow up, sitting still, and a few years ago a Ferrari F1 tub broke in two at Monterey. Plus modern builds of the Coventry Climax. https://www.racecar-engineering.com/digiissues/MASTER.pdf
  9. Nice car. Good luck with the sale. In the photos, is that a wind blocker mounted to the roll bar? Or is it only used with the reef? How does it work?
  10. And don't forget the possibility of reworking pedals. The Birkin has had some work. My first sportscar was a Dinalpin (A110 Alpine) and the previous owner had removed the gas pedal, leaving just the lever with a roller on the end. That worked great and was perfectly placed for heal/toe. Where there's a will there's a way.
  11. Peach baskets. I love it. Probably weighted with rocks, but just imagine if they were brimming with peachs? Smacking one would be a sight worth seeing. That would be betterrent than John Fitch's plastic water barrels.
  12. Walter Cronkite narrates about sports car and racing. Couple shots of Moss at Monaco in Lotus 18. https://thedrive.us11.list-manage.com/track/click?u=228bd4d5416080e946054be51&id=6f2decc4dc&e=3191b22b7b
  13. Try one. That's the only way. My old Birkin is very faithful to an original S3 and I have size 12. The driving shoes are mandatory, but then it's no problem.
  14. Oh. I see. The weight is in the OPTIONS.
  15. I'm impressed. Didn't know a Champion could weigh only 700 pounds!
  16. I have my Birkin insured with Hagerty, though it is titled as a 65 Lotus. No problems. Agreed value, etc. Great service on towing especially the first year. They do offer event track insurance, so maybe they were going down that path ?
  17. True story. A dealer here in about 1986 had a 289 Cobra. Could NOT sell it - Brown. Lovely, if you like brown. Gave up, painted it red and added $20,000 to the price. Sold right away.
  18. Westie on Locost USA http://www.locostusa.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=20774&sid=9afca4f4c7ef0854bd46419c7dbdeb5c
  19. We Birkin owners are hoping that USA7s will enjoy the good doctor's posts. I have, for years. He has over 114,000 Kms on his Birkin, so one true believer. Always beautiful photos of his trips. Our Birkin Yahoo site has shut down, so we are begging him into this community.
  20. Lexan is used in some armored vehicles, but to be effective it is quite thick. A Secret Service guy told me you can't drive one more than about 1/2 hour till you get a crashing headache.
  21. Oh sure, make the poor gringos jealous. If one lives in an EPA Non-Attainment area, as I do, the closest non ethanol gas is 60 miles away. Haven't bothered to try and con some avgas.
  22. NOT mine. There is a new post (11-24) for a large selection of Birkin parts on LocostUSA.com
  23. If the spare wheel is alloy, you might want to have it crack/fatigue tested. It doesn't take a lot to lead to a wheel failure. Not to worry you. Seems like you were very fortunate.
  24. Encourage one of the locost guys to make one. I'm thinking the back half like the GTO Breadvan.
