  1. Looks like you should have been at the Monterey Historics.
  2. Only praise. I like it. Price seems low. You could not build it for that.
  3. Wow! 1915 ! More diamond plate than a Peterbilt, more wood than a Jaguar, a glove box. Since it is a diesel, I wonder if the pull-up on the gear shift is for a 2 speed rear end or hi-lo range transmission? Let it have a 10 speed Road Ranger.
  4. Cotacab, Maybe if yo ask nicely the seller of the red Cat on BAT would let you sit in his. Nice little drive through the hills to Fredericksburg.
  5. Yes, great screen name. Congratulations! We need more Birkin folks around here.
  6. I guess it all depends on how cozy you want to get. I am currently 230, 5'11" with an older Birkin, standard size. After some time adjusting the pedals, I feel fine. Plenty of lateral support. Find one to try on for size. If you travel any, maybe post plans here and stumble across a Caterham owner at your destination. I'm is Dallas (Hell Hole), but with a Birkin.
  7. Great tonneau. The piping and correct fit really do look period.
  8. "...got out for the Drive at Dawn...." Yeah, I like Hagerty for all the little stuff they have done lately. I sent the Dawn Patrol photo with the Birkin and look forward to the cap. I only went that early once at Pebble Beach (the mrs. can't handle such hours). 6:30 is really the only way to go. You can see each car without 50 people crowded around it. Later, it is so hard to get a complete view of something special. Bringing them over from the truck lot, and seeing most of them running is fun, especially if some nut like Michael Sheehan spins the Ferrari tires on the green. I do miss our little picnic and wine at the end of the ramp. Maybe next year.
  9. "Never been to Texas..." And believe me, you never want to come this time of year.
  10. They look non the worse for wear. Congretulations. Did you get to drive the Beemer at all?
  11. Ha. I know exactly when this was. The windshield wipers are kind of laying on the Brooklands, for my annual safety inspection. This was the first time without a full windshield, but my inspector didn't care. BTW the flag and chrome hat are for visibility in the Land of Giants. I'm as paranoid as the old BMW motor bikers. So, Vovchandr, are you local or visiting?
  12. "... I was soaked - trail of soggy clothes on the way to the shower." Does that mean the path to the showers did not stop[ by the beer cooler? Seems a bit out of character. Surely there is place to set the beer down while rinsing off.
  13. Time for your rain tires. Ha. Is it going to last long enough to just console with a cold beer?
  14. Great update, Croc. More interesting than Barcelona practice.
  15. So, since watching F1 Friday practice is a waste of time, we will just wait for your posts. Will you be in conflict with the F1 race? 9:00 in Virginia?
  16. I suspect that if you had bought a newer modal, you would also lavish attention ($$$) on that one. Just give in. There is no stopping it. It's only money. Everything said above about other expensive outlets. Guess what? It gets harder to have any secret money once you are retired. Telling the wife about a mistress (flesh or aluminum) rarely yields happiness.
  17. Another designer that really believes in low weight. All those 3,600 - 4,000 pound supercars are pigs. The video is a bit much, as a production, but since you should stay on the treadmill for at least 20+ minutes... https://windingroad.us6.list-manage.com/track/click?u=1accac98afdb136206c3ce49c&id=304b1efbc0&e=be2a685cc6
  18. Excellent results.
  19. True old school. Two thumbs up!
  20. I've heard that areas with hills often have curves, instead of 90 degree intersections amid straight roads. Pity. If my kids would all scatter from Dallas, I'd be back in central Mexico or Colorado in a second. The cost of fatherhood.
  21. Oh hush. Y'al are making me jealous in the flat lands. Hills...hills... What is a hill?
  22. I guess we now know who to call...if we want a car detailed and photographed for a sale. Hope you mom likes it, as opposed to the old "Death Trap!" scream.
  23. Remember indeed. At the Mexican Gran Prix, 1968 ? The "official car" was TWO white Miuras. I suspect they belonged to the Abed brothers, but who knows. Every time they went around, it was like a low altitude pass by an F-1 car. Wow!
  24. I do not think higher is necessary. The cone is bigger and heavier at the bottom, so that's where you want to catch it. Mine is tilted up a bit, only because my mechanic wanted to give it a little style. I have not ever hit a cone on my side and hope that the exhaust there would be enough protection.
