1. An advantage of having a red line higher than the normal shift points is the ability to "stretch" a gear. Auto cross and mountain rally special stages are good examples. If the next corner is close enough to only allow a couple seconds in the next gear, it's better not to shift and then down shift. The extra shifts provide an opportunity to miss a gear, or upset the chassis on corner entry. Personally, I hate banging against a rev limiter.
2. The video sound track is nice,. Probably thanks to what appears to be a rust hole in the muffler.
3. Auction: https://www.handh.co.uk/auction/lot/-2000-Caterham-Seven-18-Superlight/?lot=49822&so=0&st=&sto=0&au=489&ef=&et=&ic=False&sd=0&pp=96&pn=1&g=1
4. It would be interesting to know what the Toyota motor weighs. The Chevy is pretty hard to beat power to weight. A turbo Supra engine can pass 400 HP without doing anything internal.
5. Or he could just go the Locost route. Perfect fit.
6. http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=17001&stc=1&d=1589057841 This is the color scheme my 600 had. I really wheeled and dealed on that car. Sold it to a BMW dealer. Doubled my money. Bought for $250, sold for $500!
7. True story. The first test in Bandera went to lady as seen below. Bandera is a nice little town, not far from San Antonio. When I was young, used to ride up that way on my motor bike, after work.
8. Sidemarkers on cars did not go into the FMVSS until 1969, so forget about it.
9. Some nice photos. Glad to see they are https://www.collierautomedia.com/adding-lightness
10. From my wife's doctor:
11. The original owner of my Birkin cut the fiberglass bottom out of the boot, leaving about an inch of floor around the perimeter. That holds the thick aluminum that is the new floor. It lifts out easily with a paint can opener, giving good access to everything below.
12. http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=16971&stc=1&d=1588440415 A Gogomobile(?) next to an F40. That's funny. Never sat in a Gogomobile, but I did have an Isetta for a while. A big limo, 600! If my boys had been closer to driving age, I would have kept it for them. Some kind of BMW is mandatory in North Dallas. Did get to drive an F40. First thought, after 20 years, finally a car faster than a Cobra.
13. Perfect hood ornament for one of Croc's cars:
14. Pretty sure this thread's name should be changed from Losing It to Lost It. Maybe a touch of Mary Poppins:
15. "Some are taking wearing their masks below their noses a bit too literal....." There have been great strides in the technology of masks recently. I'm going to ditch my N95 and get the kind I see people using at Walmart. These new masks are so anti-viral that you don't have to cover your nose, the air is purified as it wafts over the mask. Even more powerful masks protect so well that you can just wear it around the neck. That might be something our president should look into.
16. Nice photos to have, congratulations. As always, a small person finds it's just the right fit. Great number plate and easy to remember. Definately a KAR and definately NOT a 965, C or otherwise.
17. He turned off the sound of the doctor saying turn your head and cough.
18. Social distancing could mean a picnic?
19. Maybe the frat boys lighting them off are doing a public service.
20. Autoweek - Stop us if you’ve heard this before: Lotus is planning on building a car for the masses. At least, that’s what CEO Phil Popham told Bloomberg recently.
21. But, tattoo parlors are essential. Especially since since there are blood and open sores involved?
22. On early Miatas, the bolt pattern is 4x100. The regular 7 spoke (similar style to Minilites) weigh 12 pounds, which is hard to beat if you find a set for $100-200. Not sure if the M spec BBSes are 14", or the later hollow spoke, maybe 15.
23. Epic drive! Moving from back of the pack to FIRST place in the first lap! That lad's really going places.
24. Another silly video of a tiny, useless roll bar. This one is of inerest to me because I say the Mextico GP where Richie Ginther won Honda their first GP. I remember that the Honda V12s sounded very different to the Ferrari V12. But, oh, when we got to the 3 liter formula, the BRM H16 was just the best sound ever. 2,00 RPM more than the V12s. Too bad they could not keep the oil in it's proper place. https://racer.us7.list-manage.com/track/click?u=4229144cd7b7395ebde1911ab&id=68eae4fba8&e=666e8d6b01
