Carroll did a lot of odd projects that never went anywhere. Frozen cattle embryos to send to under developed countries to improve their stock; Electric car with 4 hub mounted motors in 1980s. Smooth talker that he was, he seemed susceptible to other smooth talkers. A couple of the Shelby de Mex cars were pretty wild. Maybe he bought one kit just to see what engine he could fit in it.

A low milage Toyota pickup. Pre Tacoma/Tundra. Think Hilux. R22 engine, manual of course. I had 3, new 1986, 80k 1975, 80k 1980. I did get rid of the 1980 in 2017, huge error. Only 37 years old and mechanicals showed no issues at all. Find any one with under 100k and you are set for life. Still regret getting the modern Tacoma in comparison.

I have always found that as a passenger, I tell pretty much everything about a car (and the driver's skill) from the other side. Give a good ride and a buyer should be satisfied.

Maybe a Birkin is just built better? I never had any problem switching windshield/Brooklands. At least with some one to hold the screen for a few minutes. Never had to use a drift or anything special.

If you're close to a copart, I have another idea. Watch for a recent Polaris Slingshot (not the earlier GM engine). The Polaris should be light, the ECM and harness, etc. and Miata transmission in one shot. 210 horses with factory reliability. The people that buy them crash with incredible frequency, so copart has a bunch. Alas, it may take a while to find a stick shift as most riders choose automatic.
