im trying to avoid too much ragging from the amount of crap I have bolted onto my car. I have more information coming in at the moment than I can process.  
 

But for me it’s the fun part. And the fact that starting from basically scratch small changes based on yours and others feedback translate into big improvements.  Which makes it all the more fun.  As with most things as I get better things improvements are harder to attain.  Knocking off almost 10 seconds in two days is a great reward.  The next 10 seconds will take a lot longer to shave off. 

To be fair I love you being the data guinea pig for me so I can eventually copy your ideas and avoid the teething problems. You're right.

 

@Croc you're too modest. That knuckle must have humbled you yesterday. 😅

I wanted to say thank you for making me and my son feel welcome. Everyone generously shared their knowledge, experience and (in several instances) their cars. I am grateful and looking forward to joining you on the track next year. An invaluable experience. [Sharing photos that Matthew took of Desmond and Charlie at the finish line]

Despite not having my car there, I enjoyed being with everyone. I will make sure I have the car ready for next year. Croc, thank you for being the storage facility for my carelessness.  I will use that as incentive to get back to NJMP soon.

It was great to see you Carl.  Next year the engine foibles will be solved and you will be back. 

 

Also here is one from Thursday for you - the two quickest laps.  The rubbing/wop wop noises are the diff with its 40% LSD complaining about going around corners.  Sound up for some snarling noises.

 

 

 

And if you need a different engine note then this one.  Wheelspin in most corners and all gears on vintage-style bias ply Goodyear race rubber.  Brakes are FIA non-existent spec.  The unorthodox steering technique tells you how physically heavy it is.    But sound up anyway.

We really lucked out with the weather this weekend as the early forecast looked bleak. But the temp and cool breezes were just about perfect and the rain clouds skirted around the track and missed us completely although halfway through the session the dark clouds looked ominous and as the front blew through a cold breeze hit. 

 

Other than Simon’s engine, and Vlads wing stay it was a pretty uneventful couple of days.  And I had a blast alternating with Yellow and Orange. Haven’t done that in a long while.  My heel a toeing skills deteriorated after driving With paddle shifters in Orange. It was good to get some practice in. 


Everyone seemed to enjoy the event and hopefully we will see you all next year.  Now all you have to do is lose all the weight you gained from the breakfast and lunch buffets.😝

Off this topic, but @Croc you're going to have to tell me about the 1965 Holman Moody Mustang.  Certainly doesn't look like a FIA Group 2 from '65.  I dragged a 68 or 69 customer H.M. back from Mexico, and a bunch of '65-69 Trans Am Mustangs and Shelbys.  PM or post in "other cars" section.

I’m surprised you could raise your wine to your mouth after that upper body work out

Man, this thread is amazing, looked like a fantastic event! I will have to meet some of you in person perhaps next year, but I fear that I may overfeed my dreams to join the club one day. Also Croc you seem to know everyone's name around here, not like your average car owners club forums.

since @Croc gets dragged into any type of chat, reprimand or formal hearing for any attendees at the track event. He gets a chance to put a real name and face the online handle.  (This group gets a solid C with its “adulting”)

Its a private club style of facility.   Members are responsible for their guests so we try to keep things under control.  If not then this event does not occur next year.  I think we want it to occur. 

 

Anyway, a few "offs" are normal as people get to grips with the place.  Too many "offs" and you get kicked out.  I think the record for a USA7s guest was 8 offs before 2pm on one day - he took himself out early.

Croc deserves a lifetime achievement award from Caterham for being the biggest unofficial ambassador for the brand on this side of the pond. Over the years his work and engagement has probably put more butts into the cars than any single dealer, especially considering that his work has lead to many dealer sales.

Amazing weekend, great weather, good people, how could it get any better. Looks like I did leave all my bad luck at Gingerman. On both the trip to NJMP and the return home I95 was shut down at some point, but both times it was in the other direction. So I witnessed some huge backups on the other carriageway but my drive was smooth sailing.   The car ran well all weekend, I even let Mr Blown Engine Simon take it out for a session. With a self built car you have nothing to compare it too. The design is much simpler than a Caterham, so I just wanted a second opinion from a good experienced driver. It got the Simon stamp of approval, the car is quick with no major faults. That is the answer I wanted, but it also means it is me that is slow not the car:) I suspected that anyway.

The videos are really good at showing the difference in the two cars. Of the two the Mustang looks like the more fun. It is a brute with a lot of torque from the good old American V-8. I do not know how many laps I could make, but it would be a blast trying to tame that thing. Croc and I have had a back and forth on engine sound. I love the smooth V-12- and 6-cylinder sound. V-8s have a deeper rumble because most V-8s fire two cylinders on the same side one after the other. The uneven exhaust pulses change the sound. Both sound good to me, but I prefer the even firing sound.

Great seeing everyone over the weekend again and chasing each other on track.  It's always nice to see people who have come down just to look at the cars and decide if they want to pull the trigger on a purchase.  Love what they've done to turn 1.  It's now basically makes turns 1 & 2 into one big sweeping turn with a blind track out over turn 2. 

 

The weather on track held out great.  I left around 3:00 on Sunday and 8 miles west of the track, it was pouring and really windy.

 

Thanks to Mike and Tom as always for organizing!  Hope to see everyone again next year.

It's great if you're looking for a simple lightweight trailer. The air suspension is perfect for a lightweight car like a Caterham, and   loading and unloading is a breeze as it lowers eliminating the need for ramps. Tows very smoothly, fits through a standard single garage door and even folds for the winter.

I definitely added a few pounds between the clubhouse Chef’s cooking & the Green Olive.

Which further added to my lap times.
