Snig
I guess it was a short honeymoon... Too much car. I don’t even think the owner knew what they bought.
SanderGA
He definitely did not but then he started talking about an engine swap. I’ll be curious if a buyer pays anywhere close to the premium paid on the last sale. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
seschm1234
He didn't seem like a bad guy, many reasons he could of sold, perhaps he did want more power, perhaps over his head. Given the lack of information the criticism seems too much.
MoBoost
In the BaT for sale advertisement, he states that he is moving and cannot take the car with him.
rccsr
I test drove the 2015 Birkin S3. It was absolutely raw. It had somewhere along the lines of 280HP, which is hard to beat at $30k. I've never driven anything with a faster than 8 second 0-60 so it's a bit too much for me. I would be fine with a lower HP for less $.
Kitcat
rccsr: sounds like a X-flow Caterham would fit your needs: drive it flat out all the time, lift before corners, brake only if absolutely essential. All that frontal area + clams serve as an air brake. Very hard to over drive it, or lose rear traction.
Croc
I test drove the 2015 Birkin S3. It was absolutely raw. It had somewhere along the lines of 280HP, which is hard to beat at $30k. That was the green with yellow stripe one at Wirewheel? I think that was one of the run of supercharged Birkins when Dick Brink was experimenting with for a bit. With that hp, you would want the Birkin IRS, something the ad is silent on. A live axle rear end would just be wrapping itself up in knots and tramping. Congratulations on the wise choice to preserve your license!!!

panamericano
True story. A dealer here in about 1986 had a 289 Cobra. Could NOT sell it - Brown. Lovely, if you like brown. Gave up, painted it red and added $20,000 to the price. Sold right away. Edited December 3, 2020 by panamericano

Croc
Link did not work but I went hunting and found it. Looks like you cannot link it - have to be a FB registered user and logged into FB Marketplace. Try this link to see it plus some others I found. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/105756796124329/search?category_id=vehicles&query=Caterham That Caterham is a great find. Good value at $22K. Anker
My apologies for my very negative reaction. I was caused by the ad claiming that it is Lotus 7 or Caterham. The build seems to be completely different from a standard S3 chassis. The Marketplace ad also headlines it as a Lotus Elise. All very strange. Croc
Week beginning December 6, 2020 Based on some feedback this week, I want to state that a listing here does not constitute a recommendation from me or USA7s. Always do your due diligence, first on both the car and seller, before buying. A quick google will always tell you a lot about a selling dealer. I have no financial or legal interest in anything posted here. NEW Caterham and Champion - Facebook Marketplace. Browse the linked page to find them. That Caterham is a bargain if it stacks up. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/105756796124329/search?category_id=vehicles&query=Caterham The Champion from Facebook Marketplace is also listed separately here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1957-Lotus-Seven/184566363199?hash=item2af903343f:g:5f8AAOSwuDBfyrJM Westfield pre-lit https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/lotus/super-seven/2424257.html Lotus 7 S1 https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/lotus/7/2450326.html and here https://www.wirewheel.com/inventory/available/1957-lotus-7-series-1/ Westfield https://greenville.craigslist.org/cto/d/simpsonville-westfield-se-lotus/7239875025.html Birkin https://pensacola.craigslist.org/cto/d/cantonment-1992-birkin-super-s3/7241215761.html REPEATS Lotus 7 S2 https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/lotus/super-seven/2409828.html Stalker https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/lotus/7/2167534.html Caterham https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/lotus/caterham/2416012.html Locost https://classiccars.com/listings/view/1382221/1979-lotus-seven-for-sale-in-arvada-colorado-80005 Wharton 7 https://classiccars.com/listings/view/1299993/1978-lotus-seven-for-sale-in-cadillac-michigan-49601 Stalker http://www.race-cars.com/carsales/lotus/1437589044/1437589044ss.htm Birkin https://www.wirewheel.com/inventory/available/2015-birkin-s3-for-sale/ Lotus 7 S2 https://thesmiekelcollection.com/1967-lotus-super-seven/ Caterham http://www.beachmanracing.com/inventory Caterham http://rockymountaincaterham.com/inventory/ Mitusoka Zero https://www.ebay.com/itm/1994-Mitsuoka-Zero1-Roadster/373377543132?hash=item56ef092bdc:g:ISMAAOSwCaBff3wu and here https://www.duncanimports.com/vehicles/547/1994-mitsuoka-zero1-roadster Lotus 7 S4 project https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/d/hereford-lotus-s4-seven-project-car/7232085841.html Diva 7 https://phoenix.craigslist.org/nph/cto/d/prescott-diva-roadster-1962-lotus/7232431342.html CANADA Deman SR20DET https://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/city-of-toronto/2013-lotus-seven-deman-sr-sr20det-turbo-like-caterham/1536286420 Project chassis https://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/chatham-kent/lotus-7/1532626254 Edited December 6, 2020 by Croc
