  1. You most likely have the Triumph Type 14 LF. Mk4 Spitfire calipers. But you may want softer compounds for a 7. EBC brand? You can have DeDion rear with Sierra rear brakes and Triumph brakes up front with Ford PCD hubs. Or you might have uprated front brakes. Need pictures to be sure. I just read my 95 and 96 build manuals. Although there are differences in uprights between LA and DD, there isn't any mention of any other front brake calipers used other than the Spitfire Mk4, "with the exception of the brake pads". I interpret this to mean Cat uses different pads. Perhaps Cat supplied a special compound? Yes, this is what Weale states in his book, that regular Spit pads are not appropriate. The notes on pads I have taken from members recommendations: GBP574 Ferodo DS11 Comp 512539 Mntex 1144 pn:GBP574MINTEX Pagids RS15 EBC Green Stuff pn: PADGREEN1 (a lot of hate for EBC out there) Carbotech Shims: BHM7057
  2. I would have pulled out my car for that dust. Oh, you'll never need that much washer fluid Maybe to wash off all the dust
  3. Those S4 wheels are nice!
  4. I read the AA wheel bolt circle wss 3.75" very odd choice. Few wheels available for it. If I were building an AA, I'd plan around a more common PCD.
  5. I'm surprised sealant was used at all. Doesn't the gasket have bonded rubber? I don't know what it is. The cover on my Chevy diff gets 9 bolts hand tight, no sealant. No leak in 189k.
  6. Assuming it's this https://bringatrailer.com/listing/lotus-cmc-lotus-7-replica/ 1968 Lotus Super 7 I want to know who makes those seats
  7. You're not trolling. This is not trolling. I sent you my phone # to your mail, I'd like to talk about this and tell you what my master mechanic brother suggested.
  8. Dieseling? Good chance you still have enough drag in the clutch to drive the crank but its low enough for some timing slack to relax. How's your timing tension?
  9. This makes sense, especially if there is slip between the springs.
  10. anyone know the Bilstein damper part numbers for live axle Cat & Lotus? Searching for them on the UK site doesn't reveal anything. I suspect they're no longer in the 7 game? https://www.bilstein-shocks.co.uk/collections/caterham https://www.bilstein-shocks.co.uk/search?q=CATERHAM+SEVEN (CF)+Year+ maybe here https://performance.bilstein.com/en/caterham-suspensions-exclusively-made-by-bilstein/ Much better https://web1.carparts-cat.com/default.aspx?14=4&52=1&1230=9997&1231=&10=55F6D647E7E6438C9026676892784A73018004&12=102&30=1490&1250=0&31=4250&330=1704&1260=1 Bingo! https://web1.carparts-cat.com/default.aspx?34=0,1000100121&240=0&32=127267&230=29&1271=48&1272=0fc7c03c-00b7-429c-aa7e-9da827f97145&10=55F6D647E7E6438C9026676892784A73018004&14=4&12=130 6/1986-12/1991 1.6 Crossflow: Fronts: Rears: Aw, poo. Oh, well, the rears are eyelet top bush (DeDion) The very early DeDions had stem types
  11. @Ted7 do you have a Caterham & Lotus 7 club membership?
  12. @Timothy Keith-LucasWhat did you flush with?
  13. Fantastic car. Sounds incredible!
  14. $100 to anyone who can make sense of this question!
  15. Be careful if you do. These were first available with Y16 bushes before plastic ball joint ends appeared. I have Jan 95 and Jan 96 manuals and neither of them mention the ball joint end adaptation to the "Classic" suspension. The old parts catalog lists these as 75702 Top Half Wishbone. Not even the Weale book mentions the ball joint ends.
  16. Did you get a build manual?
  17. In "dies", are you saying the engine has totally stopped, or is at a loss if power but is still running?
  18. Do you have the key sensor issue? Old Zetec ECU issue
  19. Depending on the dog quality. $1.50 Gas station dog gets ketchup. $200 Ball Park dog gets the works
  20. Front Suspension: A arm top inner front 2030 (short?) A arm top inner rear 636 A arm lower inner front 2x Y16 with spacer A arm lower inner rear 636 A arm top outter ball joint grease A arm lower outter damper Rear Suspension: Radius arm front S2030 Radius arm rear S636 A frame front 636 A frame rear 2x Y16 with spacer I would also reccomend changing out the engine and transmission mounts. Yes, a press with dies would be necessary to drift out the bushes. They are not meant to rotate freely. The bushes are part of the support system. Like a round trampoline will be supported all around by the springs, or bands, the bushes support the movement of the car. The bush centers are clamped hard in the brackets and the bush outters are pressed in hard in the arms. Therefore, the suspension bushes are only tighened with the car on the ground and at its running height, dampers adjusted and your weight in the seat. Now, do you really think you need new bushings all around, or are you willing to try a for a proper re-tightening? The diff bushes and engine mounts (Jag E-type) usually need refreshing. Front hub bearings will most likely be under greased and dry. Hub and LF14 brakes are Spitfire. Your master cylinder is Spitfire 1500 with a special horizontal tank. I don't know where that comes from.
  21. You have uprated Live Axle front suspension. There are bush packs available from Caterham and Redline. I'll get you the numbers soon. Get the 7 restoration and maintenance book by Tony Weale. It will answer a lot of questions.
  22. @Timothy Keith-Lucas Ever find it?
