  1. John. Did you consider calling our friend in CO? That EcoBoost seven he built looked mighty powerful, and I’m sure he’d customize the order for you. - perhaps this is a harbinger if my se7ens future also?
  2. Congratulations Birkson. if you have basic mechanical aptitude, can change your oil, and use a torque wrench: you should be able to assemble one of these with a little patience. is that a narrow body, or “relaxed fit”? and yes: there are a few quirks. Query the group when you encounter them for assistance. for now: I’ll recommend a Tillett seat for the driver. It’s one of the best upgrades I’ve made. Very comfortable, and nicely holds you in place. Enjoy the journey- I think assembling the car was just as much fun as driving it is. cheers p
  3. There is a discussion forum on the Haltech web page & some basic information in the manuals for the Sport line of ECU’s. All regarding settings and lots of Q & A in the forum.
  4. 200mi yesterday dipping into SE VT and back home on backroads. No complaints from my back in the Tillett, tho right knee was a little stiff when I got home. Almost at 30k on the clock! (I do believe Dr. Hasegawa puts us all to shame regarding mileage)
  5. I suspect you need to re- zero the tps on ECU. I wonder if the IAC isn’t doing anything ecause at 10% i doesn’t think it’s closed? when I adjusted my ITB’s it affected the TPS reading (marginally) so I re-zeroed it to declare what 0 & 100% throttle are.
  6. Grog I've seen the following filters for 2.0 Duratec: NAPA oil filter #1056 = Thread Size 3/4in-16. <i currently use this one> - whatever Ford recommends for the 2.0 duratec Focus. I've also seen the WIX 51335 Filter recommended. it is very short but too wide to clear my pressure sender. p.
  7. V. I'm an amateur at balancing ITB [but have done mine several times] - I have AT power ITBs and a heltech ECU. my ITB's have a communal connection to the fuel pressure regulator & internal MAP sensor of the ECU. - There are individual bleed screws on the itb's and individual/joint butterfly stop adjusters. At idle/zero throttle there is a slight slack in my throttle cable to ensure butterfly's are fully closed. IIRC: butterfly's are adjusted to be fully closed and bleed screws were adjusted & balanced to maintain equal flow(suction) and the specified air flow through each horn. I don't have an IAC but would expect this should supply the desired airflow bypassing the butterfly's. I'm no physicist or engineer but assume that variability in plumbing/tube length/fittings/branch pattern, etc could also affect equal flow to each cylinder. Have you tried disabling the IAC and just balance the ITB's & bleed screws with a manometer or synchrometer? good luck p.
  8. Grog good to see your putting her to good use. bennington-Brattleboro hopefully we can meet up sometime.... weather allowing I may head up to sout Woodstock 1st weekend in June. regarding the filter: what engine do you have?
  9. I think anyone who knows what they’re doing should be able to download haltech software and update your tune... FWIW: I’ve used Alex at Granit State Dyno & Tune (Hudson NH) for several updates to my haltec ECU. He’s a good guy and seems to know his stuff and isn’t afraid of our bespoke cars.
  10. What grade & thickness steel plate did you use?
  11. A nice one from the LoCost side of things. <http://www.locostusa.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=20903>
  12. Check LocostUSA I think there are several builders in OR. Kinetic is also located there. Caterham s have come up for sale there so i expect it can be done within reason (unlike some States where it’s nearly impossible). There may also be local/PDX regulations & inspections to check for
  13. I know quantum mechanics in oxford ct has been the go to shop for our gearbox repairs.. do you have other shops on retainer?
  14. Any luck finding a more adventuresome locksmith, or take a set of files & calipers to your blank until you have something that works?
  15. That'll definitely help with all the 'covid baggage'

    oil cooler

I found the 1" thick thermostatic sandwich plate offset the oil filter too far beneath the car for comfort (even with an extra short filter). This led me to order a Raceline.co.uk straight oil filter adapter. I picked it up from the post-office and installed it this morning and am very pleased thus far. The filter no longer extends beneath the chassis and is just above the diagonal frame member in the picture below. Last week I added upper supports to the radiator to secure the oil cooler. With sunny weather forecast for Friday I hope to test out my winter projects.
  17. I've had several recommendations for Stable energies in Garfield NJ I plan to drive down this month to look for a better fit than I have right now. HMS in Devens may also have a selection in stock but may be further away from you than Garfield.

    Bleed screw

Does anyone know the size/thread pitch was used for Birkin rear caliper brake bleeder screws from ~2010 ? i know calipers are a lightly machined VW source. When I checked with my parts store guru this afternoon he handed me an ~M10x1 bleeder screw which is much larger than what’s on my car. P.
  20. Ooh. It really glitters
  21. Dr Hasegawa Thank you for sharing, I've always enjoyed your drive photos for the past 10 years ! p.

    Anti-chafe

Previously the foam rubber stripping around my bonnet needed replacing. I tried to replace it with foam weather striping which was too thick and quickly fell apart. This go around I found a thin silicone anti-chafe strip from Aircraft Spruce. So far it’s thin enough not to obstruct fitment of the bonnet and looks high quality. With contact adhesive installation went surprisingly smoothly. Three or four more things to do and I’ll be
  23. Any chance you can get it welded together? My former neighbor fixed my handbrake cable.
  24. 2nd that. I ordered my harness through them. very helpful folks
