I agree with Tom.  Gentle break in in green group and assess progress on the day.  Sign up at the track for Sunday if you think you are in a good spot.

Just about one week to go for the 7s at NJMP event. Hopefully everyone is just about ready.  I went to the track today and corded my tires, after two runs.  Well they were two seasons old so I can’t complain. Luckily it happened today.  I have a spare set that I will take over tomorrow to get mounted. So at least I will be on fresh tires for the event . Excellent planning eh 😜

looking forward to a nice, fun event.

see you next week. Tom

Camshaft seals came in this evening.. going to machine shop tomorrow. Hopefully they were also able to get the piston rings in, then it's just assemble and easy for green run. Worst case I'll have tools and extra jack.

Saturday is a make it or break it in the garage with an expert to figure out why the car doesn't run wiring wise.

I think current forecast is 50/50 rain

Don’t fret the weather this far out.  They have no clue.

NJMP always has a wierd weather bubble around it too.

This this!  I never understand NJMP weather.  The forecast is always wrong until 36 hours before.  Any rain forecast will always go through much earlier than forecast.  Also, the weather has been known to part around the Millville area.  You see it on the weather radar and it makes no sense.

I'm hoping to day trip over -- sans se7en unfortunately because I have no means of getting it there besides driving it, and the trip is not the kind I'd take in that car. But I'd really like to meet folks in person and maybe try some seats out, since I intend to change mine out "one of these days". Also the idea of seeing a track filled with se7ens is a strong attraction.

Fresh oil & plugs, plus cleaned the coil, injector and cam sensor connections and my Caterham's raring to go!

I even polished the aluminum after Croc berated me about it last year.

I'm looking forward to this years event and seeing all my Se7en buddies.

Hi John - Do you still have your race license?  I have a person hoping for a ride along with you if you feel up to us handicapping the fastest on track!

@Croc  @John B I think that request for passenger was a pass along from me. Thanks so much. I will extend the offer to my guest coming down (likely Sunday). If he passes I may take you up on it myself since my 420 is still scheduled to go into production this month and I am running in the white group with my daily.

Regardless of weather, I regret this year is not an option for me.  I'll continue to live vicariously through this thread.  Maybe I'll map a NJMP-shaped loop from local roads that I can take my Seven on this weekend.  Looking forward to reports and pictures.....

Well the car made it through the race unscathed except for the lowered floor which I discovered has split open below the drivers seat…

…I’ll try again next year. Cross fingers for the weather for y’all this weekend.

My car is still being worked on at machine shop, but I'll bring tools, and some spare dust seals and bearing grease for people to use. I have some brake fluid as well, and a Flux welder.

Well I hate to piss on everyone’s Cornflakes but…

…NJMP just reached out to me to discuss the worsening weather forecast.  Only 12 drivers have signed up and they don’t expect any more given the weather situation.

They will make a final decision tomorrow,(Thursday) morning, using the latest forecast, on whether to go ahead or cancel.  I expect they will cancel.

Obviously this is disappointing but to put it in context:

(a) NJMP has to operate its Drivers Club events on a commercial basis. We are privileged to be able to get the exclusive run group access we do at the price we pay.
(b) I don’t think anyone really fancies getting wet on track for two days running.  One day maybe but we are looking at likely two days.   Tom’s hair is curling up already!

Given how late we are in the year I don’t think a reschedule is feasible, especially since I am traveling internationally for most of the rest of the year plus it’s getting cold as we head towards the end of Fall.

I will update tomorrow once I hear formally.  Those that signed up and paid will be refunded by NJMP directly.
