  1. Yeah it was a little pushy, that weekend was basically a shakedown of the car, breaking in the gearbox and making sure there were no leaks or breakages etc. The suspension was not setup well at all at the time just eyeballed. I guess the weight of the passenger didn't help matters.
  2. Hi Atterbud, the opening where the seat goes for the SV is 17.5"-18" wide where the lower torso goes so if the opening is wide enough it'll depend on the seat selection. The seat is bolted down to sheet metal so I would think you could use anything that fits. I have Tillet bucket seats which definitely wouldn't work for you, I'm sure someone has good seat ideas.
  3. I just purchased a new set of Avon ZZRs from Roger Kraus Racing a few weeks ago, I had the tires in a few days from enquiry so they are super fast and responsive. The tires are just north of $200/tire.
  4. I wouldn't go over 1/16" toe out unless you like replacing tires regularly. I found that out the hard way
  5. Could maybe try a tach noise filter? https://www.summitracing.com/parts/vdo-291000021730
  6. So glad I started this thread after the trip lol.
  7. They warned about turtles and ground hogs, no deer, but after watching yellowss7’s video I’m surprised they didn’t mention it lol.
  8. The factory installed one I got is on the LHS....
  9. For Alabama the manufacturer was "Assembly" on the title application. The title came back as "Caterham". Go figure.
  10. Unfortunately not, I'll be racing Champcar Road America Oct 24th, then Chin Daytona October 31st. Lots of catching up to do
  11. Thanks! It's a perfect track for a Seven. The tires I had on were Avon ZZRs, 13/6 front 13/8 rear. They are really great tires for street legal, though they tend to overheat and get greasy after half a dozen laps or so, I guess unsurprisingly so. I have a set of Hoosier slicks that I haven't broken out yet, same dimensions. The tire shredding was from the other cars - the grill, my helmet and cockpit was covered in it, the ZZRs vulcanized but did not shred, I guess the car is just not heavy enough to do that. The only concern I have right now is the steering column clamp, which seems to loosen up during the weekends. The design of the clamp doesn't seem to be great to me, it's a lot of torque on a tiny radius with a small clamping surface area. And that's with the camber set to a moderate level (2-2-2 on the washers).
  12. This is from the Chin track day at Summit Point in WV last weekend, it's a lot faster than I expected and a real tire shredder, session was cut short by a bashed up but ok miata on turn 1. If anyone knows this track well let me know if my lines were ok?
  13. I would start by emailing Caterham and getting them involved, I'd have to check the T&Cs but normally if they secured the shipping to your door they are responsible for customs issues. Worst case it'll get kicked back to Caterham and they'll have to reship without the belts (you can buy them from Summit Racing in the US anyways). Another option is to check box 8 and write that import letter.
  14. Wouldn't factor in coolant fluid leaks in the equation, if that happens you're stopping anyways
  15. Are you travelling local or long distances? Serious road trips I would recommend a fully enclosed car hauler to keep road dirt, rain and thieves out.
  16. Hey Jimmy, I may be too far away but if you can make a drive to Birmingham, AL you are welcome to swing by and jump in my 420R, I'm in town during the week and the next 2 weekends. Simon
  17. Really impressive Dave, thanks for posting that!
  18. Yes please!
  19. For the track rats on here does anyone have a good pedal setup to make a heel/toe work? I have the throttle pedal with the weird circular disc on the end. Thanks! Simon
  20. Normally they would let anyone in after signing the usual waiver stuff, but the rules right now require it to be a private event. The organizers are allowing participants to submit a “guest list” and only those on that list are allowed in. Hopefully that’ll change soon!
  21. Hey all, I'll be shaking down my 420R on July 11-12 at Barber, which will be hosted by Chin Track Days. Would be good to see any other sevens on here at the track! :driving: https://chintrackdays.com/event-details.aspx?q=89cmg2TRuyo%3d Cheers! Simon

    New Build

Which software/cable you gonna use? The one I bought gave me decent real time sensor feedback but error codes were useless.
  23. Congratulations and best of luck squeegee! :auto:

Pokey - going back to post #199 about the 2 mystery wires, I asked Caterham also about this last year. They said it was used for racing 420R cars for the oil tank temperature sender, but was not required otherwise. I guess they have different ECU programs for different applications. But I had the spare sender (as you do) and so I installed it anyway in the hole near the bottom of the oil tank and attached one of the spades to that, for the second spade I drilled a hole in the bottom flare of the tank and bolted on a ground connector. I'll send a pic if you want. I ran the car with it connected and disconnected and couldn't tell any difference in operation, so they are probably right it's not used, but as OCD as I am it just felt better being connected. When I dug into the CANbus I couldn't find it there either, though I got bored somewhat after finding all the good stuff. About idle - my 420R idles at 950-1000RPM, don't know if that's the best RPM for idle but it seems fine to me.
