Did you lap in the new valves or at least check the seat? Graham

I have found one way to control oil loss from the gearbox tail shaft is to zip tie a rubber glove over the end. Looks strange but works well. Graham

You might want to look at a more modern battery isolator option. Checkout https://www.pegasusautoracing.com//group.asp?GroupID=CARTEKBATT Graham This is probably the model you would want https://www.pegasusautoracing.com//pdfs/BatteryIsolatorXRInstructions.pdf

Looking great, that valve cover is certainly red:) Graham

Help with hesitation at high RPMs - fuel starve?
fastg replied to KnifeySpoony's topic in General Tech
On most cars I have played with including my Honda system. The fuel pump runs for 2 seconds when you turn the ignition on. As soon as the engine starts the fuel pump is switched on, it runs until the motor is turned off. I had this with both a return and a non-return system. Any fuel delivered to the engine is controlled by the injectors. Graham -
I would say fit and finish look very good, my next thought would be, WTF were they thinking? Graham

I did the track days at Pittrace, great facilty. Well it rowdy, everything work well, the motor just pulls to the red line and the 6 speed trans have turned it into a 3 (3,4,5) gear car rather than a 2 (3,4)gear car. Much better drive out of the corners in the lower 3rd gear. The only minor issue was a stutter when crossing the VTEC point at less that 100% throttle. I forgot to take the Hondata cable with be otherwise John from Absolute Pro-formance would have had me fix it at the track. So it was a great event, played a little with brake balance, as I have too much forward bias. I rented a garage and was next to a couple of NASCAR's. Great guys, enjoyed there company, great fun, one was an ex-NFL lineman, his buddy says he has taken way to many blows to the head:) They were fast, just about the fastest cars in the Advanced group. But they were unbelievably loud, as soon as I heard a started turn is was finger in the ears and run out of the garage, I wish I had my shooting ear mufs with me. Graham

I have tried a couple of aero screens with mixed success. I use Brookland screens, if you play with the angle you can get a buffet free ride. I wear ear plugs and a Simpson open face helmet. One of my other hobbies is high end hifi, it would be a waist of money if I was as deaf as a post, so I look after my hearing. Graham

How do you know you have fuel? Check the power supply to the coil, The coils should receive a 12volt constant power, they are fired by being grounded by the ECU, injectors work the same way. So just because you can hear the fuel pump running does not mean you have fuel. Graham

It has flat side bars, the top of the frame rails, I though all Caterhams had the sloping down bars. The forward sloping bars look a lot better in my opinion. Graham

Looks like a fun track, but the run off is a dirt bank! Great race, I would have a WORD with Yellow #71 Graham

I would trust Dorman products as far as Croc's vertical leap. As a last resort only try and find a better brand, Dorman in junk. Graham

It's a simple flat, one dimensional bend, should me no problem. Checkout this amateur attempt. http://www.lesnewell.co.uk/Bodywork.html Graham

Unless they have changed Gateway a lot it is on the very high end of the dangerous scale. For the motorcycles that actually had a NO PASSING ZONE. WTF a no passing zone on the race track! Graham

Proposal for a new 2021 Sevens HPDE in SC - Gauging interest

Love Barber, driven it on a motorcycle, it would be great 7 track. Dates are the deciding factor but I am up for it. Graham -
That should not be that big a problem to re-create that panel. Every Locost owner has to make the exact same panel from scratch, and most of them to a good job. For a skilled show it should be no problem. Graham

I used the new style Caterham fender on my Locost last year. I thought the approved installation was a bit naff. So I made some threaded tubes that I glues in to the fender and then bolted them the the stay. This way that are removable and you can make adjustments for different tires/wheels. I am not sure if the new style fender is more aerodynamic, but it makes a great parts shelf when you working on things. Graham

WTB/RENT OR BORROW Portable English Wheel
fastg replied to ChuckM's topic in Parts For Sale / Wanted
The tools are simple, the necessary skill is not. Basically a ripple is caused when metal stretches, so it gets longer, but the surrounding metal constrains it. This new longer piece of metal has to go somewhere so it curves in or out. To fix it you need to get behind the ripple using a block or dolly, then hammer the top of the ripple to shrink the metal back down, a slapper is often used. But it takes skill and a good eye. See is you can find a skilled "painless dent removal" specialist, and see if he can help or point you in a good direction. Graham -

I cannot see the roller shape in you picture, but English Wheels stretches metal, if you have ripples you generally want to shrink metal, so you might be barking up the wrong tool. Graham -

Gingerman is a great track, fun, changing, safe. and 7 friendly. I have done trackdays there on not bikes and cars. Graham -
It could be a lot of things, you need an AF sensor, you will learn more in 5 minutes that you will after hours of faffing around. Using a vacuum guage, go old school, try a piece of hose, stuff one end in your ear, he other and in the throttle body, with a little practice it amazing how good you will get. That assumes you have something like regular hearing. Graham
